You made a bunch of errors and didn't pay attention to positioning your artillerythe only excuse you have for this is the unexpected bombardment. th-cam.com/video/TbSEvR51NAo/w-d-xo.html
19:40 I can explain. There were two separate hills. Breeds Hill and Bunker Hill. During the actual battle the original fighting took place on Breed Hill while reserves were on Bunker Hill. The British had the wrong map and they thought Breeds Hill was Bunker Hill, and Bunker Hill was Breeds Hill. So what is known as the Battle of Bunker Hill actually takes place on Breeds Hill. It took the British 3 times to try take the Hill but during the 3rd charge they were successful. The real Dr. Joseph Warren was shot in the head and killed instantly. When the British stormed the hill they bayoneted his body to show that they had no respect for him. Hope this helps :).
Historically speaking I believe the British Navy was just out of range to bombard Breed's hill. They instead used the ships to land a whole lot of troops. Most of which died.
This mission is intentionally this difficult, as the Colonial forces lost the Battle of Bunker Hill. I don't think you were supposed to win no matter what.
You can stop commenting about how X TH-camr beat the mission on his X try. I played this mission on HEROIC and I'd like to see them hold the hill for as long as I did. I decided to go back into the game and replayed the mission on EASY/NORMAL (makes no difference) as X TH-camr also did. I played the ENTIRE mission on times 5 speed and without calling in a single unit as reinforcements. I could have held that hill with the men I had until they all would have died of age. Watch my next video to see what I'm talking about. Now please. Stop commenting.
DiplexHeated Well, Y TH-camr completed the mission in Y Time and if you solve the equation Y=X(a/b^2)-3xy*7 You would know, that they did it faster than you. :P
The rebellion at bunker hill was put down, Lexington and Concord is were the revolution began. "The shot that was heard around the world." What just happened was historically accurate.
The actual battle went a lot like it did in your video. The battle was one of the first battles of the revolution taking place before the Declaration of Independence. The battle pitted 1200 militia men against the might of the British empire. The militia repulsed two attacks leaving a great many red coats to liter the battle field. The third British assault drove the militia from the field as the militia ran out of ammunition. The militia retreated to fight another day with few casualties. The British victory was hard to swallow as the casualty count was extremely one sided. The British victory felt very hollow because of their extreme casualty count. The battle was fault June 13 1775 while the Declaration of Independence was signed July 4th 1776 over a year later making it official.
I wonder what Mel Gibson would say... ((Edit: To all those who keep saying: "hurr hurr Pixilated Apollo beat this like a pro" Yeah, anyone is a pro on Easy. I love both these youtubers, but the facts are facts. However, Pixxy's still a beginner to Men of War, so you can't totally blame him. Lol))
Good video Diplex. My only suggestion would be to used these revolutionary war assets to fight Panzers to simulate the defeat of Poland. Make sure you give the Panzers a good stab by men in horses to give my buddies in the hidden Nazi retirement home some good laughs.
Diplex if you like spreading out your men into defensive positions from small groups, I suggest that you download and play some kind of Winter War map as Finland.
In the actual battle, the action took place several hundred yards east on Breeder's hill. The militia was outnumbered 6 to 1, and repulsed 2 forceful attacks (most on the left flank) before retreating to Bunker Hill, from which they organized a withdraw. It was during the withdraw that they lost most of the 200 who perished, though it was considered a masterpiece of retreat. The loss of 1000 troops (200 officers) by the British, who thought the Americans unable to even fight, resulted in a much more cautious British approach in later battles, which in turn helped win the war for America after 8 years of bloodshed. The British commander was fired for this British victory. The most significant detail of the battle was that the Americans ran out of ammunition. If they had not, it is probable that they would have repulsed the British entirely, converting a strategic victory and tactical defeat into both a strategic and tactical victory, totally against all odd and partially because of poorly conceived attacks by Generals who underestimated the enemy's resolve.
I love seeing battle of bunker hills stuff because I'm related to Joseph warren, came across it and had to watch because it was a diplexheated vid of it in mowas2!
As for the name the Continental Army intended to defend bunker hill to shoot upon the burning Boston full of flames thanks to the British, it was on effects the biggest hills so it would serve it's purpose well. They overshot the hill and ended up defending Breeds hill. They army had little no ammunition with about four musket bullets per soldier. "Don't fire until you see the white of their eyes!"-William Prescott. The British being u inform and against the American 'Gorilla Warfare' so they charged up the hill in lines. They would get close, the line would be shot, and push down the preceding line. after 3 waves the British changed tactics and mounted bayonets on to their weapons and charged, final volley was shot by the Americans, and then they retreated. Bunker Hill everyone.
The battle took place on Breed's Hill, but it came to be known as the Battle of Bunker Hill because the Colonials fortified Bunker Hill the most. The British attacked Breed's Hill instead which was adjacent
19:45 they were probably trying to say "Breeds Hill" as Breeds Hill is where the battle was mostly fought but the battle is still called Bunker Hill, probably cause Bunker Hill sounds cooler and signifies the battle more than calling it the Battle of Breeds Hill
It's technically is Bunker hill but the main source of fighting that day was on Breeds hill. Though bunker hill is where the commander was that famously said "don't fire till you see the whites of their eyes"
Popularmmos Mmos what? Aren't I correct? the British did win the battle after the rebels retreated after they ran outta ammo, and they lost a considerable amount more than the rebels, therefore a phryic victory
In all honesty, this mission (to me) seems more to represent how bloody and hard fought bunker hill was then to give the player a simple victory (such as the one Pixelated Apollo got). Congrats for attempting this on heroic though.
The British won the battle IRL but took enormous casualties. Of the 2200 men the British sent to capture breeds hill and bunker hill 828 were wounded and 268 were killed and with their depleted numbers they were forced to retreat from Boston shortly after.
WASTELAND. Honestly how many times will people have to ask for something on season 2. Diplex, I don't care if you don't want to do season 2, but if you have made the decision to cancel it at least tell us. That was one of the best series you ever made if you don't count some of your Total War campaigns. Please tell us something.
The Battle of Bunker Hill was not actually fought on Bunker Hill. Tasked on the night of June 16, 1775, with fortifying 110-foot-tall Bunker Hill on the Charlestown peninsula, which jutted into Boston Harbor, Colonel William Prescott instead directed the 1,000 patriots joining him to build an earthen fort atop neighboring Breed’s Hill, a shorter peak with a closer perch to the British under siege in Boston. Whether Prescott ignored orders or was simply ignorant of Charlestown’s geography is unknown, but the subsequent battle that unfolded was named for the original target-Bunker Hill-even though most of it occurred one-third of a mile south on Breed’s Hill.
Real Battle. British won, but suffered more than 2x the number of casualties as the colonials along with around 100 officers killed or badly wounded, and the colonials only had to retreat because most of them had run out of ammunition. The battle marked the highest casualty rate the British had for any battle in the whole war and also marked the last time they chose to launch a frontal attack on a fortified defensive line in that war.
7:07 ahah! some french recognition~~ as a french, i'm pleased~~ to me there's nothing to discuss, as long as the french intervention and USEFULLNESS is recognised, i'm pleased~~ because how many time have a i heard or seen american all going "huh we saved you in WW2" but NEVER, never do they mention or even remember how we came to help their asses~~
heh, i feel that it's more like in the second, i mean, in the first, it wasn't really the governement/country moving by itself, but because some american that were living/visiting France decided to join the foreign legion to help with the defense, and then america officially joined in, and it was actually because they wanted to defend their principles, actually it seem they wern't really pleased with joining the war, both the governement and population, so yeah honestly i'm not a big history specialist, but i feel like we could have won WW1 without you guys fully and officially entering the war, of course i'm thanksfull for the brave men that voluntered and all before that, and it would have been a much less dessisve and more painfull victory without you guys officially entering the war while WW2 was much more of a desesperate situation, with that bastard of traitor selling half of the country to the german and the important lack of ressources, even if the resistance was fighting well and the british where helping, i feel like it would have been harder to retake the coast of normandy with only the british troops tought there will always be a point i'll never be abble to accept, even if i understand how usefull and necessary it was, the nuking of japan was too much
don't get me wrong it wasn't necessary but action had to be taken and you can't fight a war on two fronts without sustaining heavy casualties so... but all in all yes it was bogus and I can't justify my countries rough past. also opinions on the battle of Verdun in ww1.
Here is a fun idea for you, Diplex, replay this mission but with WW2 era UK and US, it would definitely make for a more fast paced and chaotic battle. It would require some editor work, but I'm certain the battle would thrill you.
Americans gave up the hill due to lack of ammo. One of the defenders fought so hard and pissed off the Brits so bad that they bayoneted his corpse like 20 times.
WOW!! Best defenses of Bunker Hill that I have ever seen, but it really was "Breed's Hill"!!The Colonials used all of their ammunition & destroyed the first 2 waves ... & then it was a moot point! The Regulars would take the hill by the bayonet point ... in any & all scenarios!!!

Bunker hill is what we called the battle. Breeds hill is what the Brits called it.
Bunker hill was the hill behind Bris (Pronounced Breeds). I forget the reasoning, but the battle was named after the wrong hill. :)
