Someone needs to tell Amanda that donkey's have long life spans.
All my neighbors have a donkey or two on their ranches. I guess they are good to scare off the coyotes and Mountain lions. I like them because I can tell when I big storm is coming. They start making noise from thunder.

However, left to their own devices chicken would probably stop laying eggs and sit on the one they produce to see if some offspring is arriving. I’ve read somewhere that would come up to maybe 15 eggs a year...
nommh No not chickens. Geese just lay one clutch a year of about 15-20 eggs. If you didn’t take chickens eggs away and you had a rooster so they were fertilized, the chickens would lay about a dozen eggs, sit for 20 days to hatch the eggs, care for the chicks for a month and then lay another clutch. They’d do that about 3-4 times a year and take a break in the winter. So around 48 eggs.

@@kored927 First world problem that's being reffered to is probably the fact that she owns a chicken, and her caring for it, a vet proposing ICU for it etc. The phrase you quoted was about the donkey, and how he's kinda old i guess, so the fact that he's kinda dying, will in-and-of itself teach the kids that things, at some point, die. To be honest, it's densly philosophical phrase and i applaud her for saying that. I don't know what the fascination was about... That's when Colbert replied "i'm glad your mother's on the farm", meaning she (the grandma) will teach them about life instead. That's all ^_^

Do you die laughing when you hear a person has been sent to the ICU then? Speciesism isn't justified or based on any scientific evidence. Chickens have been thoroughly studied in the world of biology: they are very intelligent and emotional animals. Most people don't know this, or don't want to know this, because then they would have to face the fact that they pay into the suffering and death of trillions of these animals annually.
By assuming the "worthlessness" of something based on indoctrinated assumptions, you lower your cognitive dissonance so you don't have to change your behavior to align with your morals. This is a classic psychological tactic, and demonstrates why our own species is actually quite unintelligent.
@@DA-js7xz says the person concerned about one animal killing another. What do you think happens when a coyote gets in the chicken pen? Does it show concern for the well being of the chicken before it kills it?

Love Amanda. Ironically looked her up after her portrayal of the ultimate pretty airhead on Mean Girls and discovered the real person is the complete opposite of the character. Great actor! Wonderful person!
