Could you do a video of “why items fail” more from the aspect of why a tester would fail something? Could then pass the link onto some of my customers.
Good video, Ben! The Code of Practice 5th edition is an essential for anyone doing the C&G 2377 as it's what their exam is based on - it's an open book exam so you don't have to remember it all. It's also great for anyone who doesn't have a huge amount of electrical experience - it's well illustrated and explained.
May I suggest a subject for your next video ----" How To Pat Test A Washing Machine." I have looked at practically every PAT video on youtube and I have seen nothing on washing machines. Not only that, but I'm sure it would be very popular video and garner a lot of views. Keep up the good work.
Hey there great video, I know there are some plugs which if you just tap on the plastic housing it makes a kind of rattling sound which shows something's loose on it, Is there a way it can be fixed or is it an instant fail and cant be fixed?
Hi Ben. I have a floor lamp bought from Ikea with metal parts and should be classified as class I but the earth plug is not metal instead its a plastic so there’s no earth connection. It can’t be classified as class II. So is this a fail in PAT Testing. Thanks
Hi, so I’m confused why you think something can’t be a class 2 if it has metal parts. Does your lamp have a class 2 logo on it? Lots and lots of items including lamps will be class 2 with a metal body. Have a look at my class 2 video which explains this in more detail. Most class 2 items will have either plastic of even a metal earth pin too.
@@caterhampattesting Thanks Ben for the reply. I’ve got the wrong perception. I thought any electrical item with a metal body is automatically class I. Thanks for the enlightenment and I’ll gonna go and watch your other videos on PAT testing. Thanks for the knowledge. Keep it up.
Question if you are thinking of doing C&G Electrical Equipment Maintenance and Testing (2377) do you get this book for reference on the two day course? anyone know how long the test last?
So you will have to buy the Code of practice as the C&G course is completely based around it and then the exam allows you to use the open book but without any notes.

Have a copy of this myself - working as a facilities manager & maintenance person I find it a valuable source of information.

Hi so it’s probably either loose terminal screws or a loose cable grip, both of which can be repaired!
@@caterhampattesting thanks!
