The man narrating all the wonders of Ghanaian football is a very intelligent man. Am a Ghanaian living in UK/ Liverpool, aged 70years. All the scenes he mentioned are TRUE. The names of footballers mentioned and the years they played for clubs and national team are just wonderful. He is a real football historian. Let the young of our time learn from him fast.He is a real football icon for the country 👏. I love this. He has made my day. I was a school goalkeeper till I left school abd played for George Allhassan Braves at Accra New Town. Adabraka and Mantse Agbona were our favourite parks. There were days of glory and joy. As at now, colts coaches must visit youth playing fields to help them locate young and future players. Ghana football go go ,go. God bless 🙌 Ghana.
12:56 I’m surprised he forgot Robert Coffie of Cape Coast Mysterious Dwarfs fame. I don’t think any goalie ever saved Coffie’s penalty kicks. He added drama to his penalty kicks by taking off from the centre line with the entire stadium giving him a huge standing ovation whilst still on the way to take the penalty kick. Such a spectacle
John Taylor was my coach at Tema Paint division of GIHOC, i played alongside with Tieku, A pleh, Oko was our captain who passed away after our game against food specialities Tema played at the Tema Newtown. It was a fantastic game. I also played with Kankam, Lomo Mitchelle, Oheneba siaw, Moses Okyere.Asabe Boakye call me smart Boye because of my body swerving abilities. My son is Marcus Rashford of Manchester United. Ben Kayode Selas Tetteh Teivi, all my playmates. But John Taylor thought me a lot. It was good old days for football. I also played for Ghana Water and sewerage corporation Koforidua at Prisons Park against Highways authority where Opeele Aboagye was Highways. My name is Marquaye. Owuau Kankan and Nkrumah was my team mates at Water and sewerage corporation.

Rest in perfect peace, Robert Mensah. The sad news reached me at Kumasi market where I was helping my mother. My mother, a Yoruba, asked me why I was crying and I broke the news to her, she could not believe why a young boy, old 11 years could be crying over a footballer. However I explained to her that I am a die hard Kotoko fan. RIP Rebert Mensah. I was then in the midst of Cornerstone of Kumasi. After Mensah Robert demise and Kotoko turning to only Ashanto team, I went over to 11 wise and people start to call me " Dakota".
Great interview @ about 4:54 he said Oboɔtabri was at Tafo area. Corection: Oboɔtabri was based at Koforidua. K’dua Eastern Rovers were named Oboɔtabri by Daasebre Boateng, the Chief of K’dua. Thanks.
Such intelligent and smart guys are our historian living legends but couldn’t get anything from Ama GHANA 🇬🇭 to be proud of their own motherland.. These guys are the asserts of GHANA 🇬🇭 to run the GFA but our leaders will go in for their families and friends who knows nothing about football to spoil our sports…
Gone are the days, John Banerman, Kofi Badu, Anas Seidu, Kofi Abbrey, Opoku Nti, Kwesi Owusu, Dan Owusu, Opoku Afreyie, Douglas Tagoe, and many more. You will never regret when you go to stadium.
Good job there bro, Mr Yaw Sam is my dad, so i believe what he is saying is true, but when will the sports minister remember the old black star player, cos the lifted the flag of Ghana on high, they were national player so the minister have to do something to help them before it too late thanks bro keep it up
Television CK you never ask the historian about one of our legend...The golden boy Abdul Razak. He also reign from the 70s, ask him on ur next episode. Good to have such a historian today. Agaspa Lee Germany
@7:03 The Interviewer is a young man. The guy was talking about sportswriters like Ken Bediako (Daily Graphic; that had a sports paper called Graphic Sports, which was modeled after The Sporting News, Oheneba Charles (The Ghanaian Times and her sister paper’The Sporting News’ a weekly which was published on Tuesdays) There was also an Even Quarcoo ( Graphic) who was also a good sportswriter. Kwabena Yeboah ( Winneba Sec. School) and co were Latter Day Saints.
James Adjei was a church member at Community 4 Assemlies of God and I happened to play in casual church games under him as training instructor. I don't if he's still alive. He's used to live at Community 8. The reason he's not mentioned enough is cz he stopped playing early due to injury.
impressive memory. But one thing: Northern Region also had two football teams: Gbewa United and Savannah Stars. Tamale United was formed with an amalgamation of these teams
Well done my brother. So far so good. I am sorry he could not comment on the Dwarfs vrs Kotoko league match in 1969 when we defeated Kotoko 5 -0 with the late Robert Mensah at his best .l am sure he was then young.
That was the time Ghana was Ghana. Kotoko and Olympics met in semi finals of African cup of nation. That was when Jones was captain and goalkeeper Fred Tetteh for Olympics were terrific. Kotoko too had goalkeeper Robert Mensah. Sunday Ibrahim was there and Malick Jabir .
Robert Mensah died some few days to that historical match which ended 2-1 in favour of Kotoko. Essel Mensah was then named to replace him and he was excellent Unfortunately,it was in the second league match in Accra that Jones Attuquafio got injured and was replaced. That injury affected his football career and had to retire from active football.
I will finish the story of Abedi. Abedi went to Green Hill Preparatory school at Achimota, played for Great Farcos as his Colts team, then went to play for Real Tamale United before being invited to the Black Stars and making it big internationally.
This guy knows his stuff. He was talking about Ghana's celebrated SportsWriters like Oheneba Charles (Sporting News), Ken Bediako (Daily Graphic then Graphic Sports) etc. Oboutabiri was formed from Koforidua Eastern Rogers. Some teams included Ho Sunset and Mighty Eagles, Tamale Savannah Stars, Tamale Gbewaa United, Agona Swedru Fankobaa and All Blacks, B/A United and Bofoakwa from the Brong Ahafo Region, ofcourse Hearts, Kotoko, Cornerstones, Olympics, etc. Then there were the non-League Clubs including City Paints Supply (Accra) and the Industrial Area Teams in Accra and Tema, oh I miss the good old days
Some of old teams Akosombo Akotex, Akim Abuakwa Susubiribi, Obuotabiri, Nsawam Ghanacan, Eastern Rovers, Asamankese Eastern Stars, Eastern Region, Accra Standfast, Tema Hurricanes, Great Olympics, Hearts of Oaks, Sweden fankobaa, Sweden All Blacks, Ebusua Dwarfs, Venomous vipers, Ho Mighty Eagles, Ho Sunset, Eleven Wise, Hasaacas, B A United, Bofoakwa Tano, Kumasi Cornerstones, Ashanti Heroes ,Ashanti Kotoko, obuasi Adansiman, Savannah Stars, Gbewaa United, Northern United, Tamale Real United.....
AFRO JOE..just passed away in the USA few days ago. The presenter is too young for this interview but did his best. The presenter must be well prepared to meet such a soccer historian. Today's soccer is money and athletics and just not enjoyable. Peter Foley,Anas seidu, Ahmed Polo,Christian Maus etc Yes soccer was soccer.
Duru Lamptey was very big but not tall. He was heavy weight but very active. He kicked the ball from his post and it landed straight in the opponent’s post. His real name is Lamptey France and his football name was Duru.
The historian is very good. However, he forgot to mention such greats like Kofi Badu ( Kotoko), Francis Kumi ( Swedro Fankobaa & Kotoko), Papa Arko ( Kotoko), Opeele Aboagye ( Okwahu United), Mama Acqauh, Anas Seidu, Robert Hammond , all of Hearts, John Yawson ( Hearts & Kotoko) Kyenkyehene ( Kotoko) and a host of others.
20 years to come, the players you described as yeye players, will also be described as real footballers. Will you believe that in 1958, an English select team came to Ghana and beat Ghana's national team by 7:0?
This interesting I was also doing exactly what this is saying I my school art book I will vut news paper all the interesting football pictures every Monday news paper, I had one special book for Asante kotoko.
20:55 Ben Kusi was the Kotoko nr. 2 not Dan Oppong. Dan was a Yaw Sam age group mate. Ben Kusi and Odame, Oliver Acquar , Malik Jabir, Osumani Orlando, Abukari Gariba were Kotoko club mates Dan Oppong was not in the Kotoko team during that period.
@5:59 Memories. Hugo Sanchez joined Real Madrid in 1985 from Atletico Madrid. By that time Osei Kofi, Sunday Ibrahim, Yaw Sam, Sam Amartefio, Joe Dakota, Dodoo Ankrah, etc have all retired. Robert MENSAH died in 1972? The guy is good but since it’s a long time ago, he’s mixing things.

In the time before even elementary school players can play today's national team. They're talented players, who played for love.
Rev Osei Kofi's name is on every football historian's lips. I wish there's a video clip of him. It appears he's the best Ghanaian player ever.
There’s a Facebook group called West African Football Players. It features a lot of west African players. Osei Kofi is there also.

Kofi Nti, aka Kofi Leftie( may he rest in peace) emerged the best colts player in the said tournament. He later played for Dumas.

Where is the second and third episodes.
Ghana football is dead today as compare to those days because we will never see those talented players who played to make their supporters happy.
Robert koffie and Kwasi owusu of Bofoakwa tano had power pack shots.
l was waiting to hear Razak's name because he was also one of my favourite players those days from corners to kotoko.
Razak 1st mach game with the black stars was Ghana and Lone stars of Sierralion in Accra sports stadium early 70s.
Duru Lamptey was very big but not tall. He was heavy weight but very active. He kicked the ball from his post and it landed straight in the opponent’s post. His real name is Lamptey France and his football name was Duru.
