    It's understandable that people don't like it, or just don't care for it. That's perfectly fine. But for the people saying it's just waving your hands around and moving your arms, that's completely wrong. It takes work to be able to move in a specific pattern and to memorize it is another, not to mention the work it takes to make your hands and fingers aline up in the different forms. To call this 'easy' or 'just moving your hands around' is basically an insult and wrong to the people that do it. Can we all just stop with comments about it being stupid or easy or whatever? It's fine you have an opinion but try not to be rude about it.

      Josh O'Connor See that's the thing though lots of people have jobs where they are miserable. So many people get jobs to try and support themselves and get fired. Jim Carry says "If you're gonna do something why not do something you love" His father was funny but decided to just stick with normal jobs and got fired anyway Jim Carry decided why not just do what he loves and now he's making bank. Some people get paid off for this type of stuff cause lots of people still are interested in seeing it. It's a form of dance. Every dance has a story or meaning even twerking I must sadly say it's pretty much a mating dance if you think about it. I mean everything that started someone called worthless. The Wright Brothers worked on flight everyone said it's worthless now look it's one of the biggest means of transport. When you call something worthless in the end something comes out meaningful. Just saying, to YOU it may be worthless cause you have no interest but to others it may mean something cause to some kids dance is the best way they can express how they feel cause dance is an expression spoken through movement of the body

    Take this from a dancer, who pops, locks, waves, glides, and yes tuts. Out of all those styles of dance, Tutting is probably the hardest. Anybody can learn to pop, or wave, and stuff like that, it becomes second nature to move that way to the music. But tutting takes creativity, along with technique. So anybody dissing tuts, let's see you try to do it. It really is hard, and art. Now please, bring the hate my way!

    • @emancules
      @emancules 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      GWizJackson definitely agree. I never learned how to do those other dances really I’ve just always been able to since I was young. I could copy a dance perfectly just by seeing it a few times. Can’t say the same about tutting which takes actual practice and work to get it down

    You can tell by the comments made who among the commenters are dancers and artists and who are narrow-minded simpletons. Any person with an iota of creative spark knows that just as music is organized sound, dance is merely organized movement.
    Tutting is one of the oldest forms of street dance and one of the most underrated. Keep on keepin' on guys.

    So, I've been tutting (arm and finger) for months and people criticize that it isn't dancing because there isn't and "emotion". For those of you who don't understand, tutting is just a hip hop dance style, and I won't bother with denial. Don't tell me about emotion, if emotion is one of the things us humans find hard to understand. Don't act like you know so much about emotion and art, that you can build a boundary of what is emotion and what isn't. Emotion is expressed differently, maybe through music, maybe through drawing, and you can't rule out what shows emotion when anything can show emotion, just totally different. People have got to know this, it's the most basic thing when you're in the emotionalism of art. Plus, we live in a world where we should be aware of the things that make everything different. It takes the simplest mind to know that.

    While I may not be youthful in age, I certainly am at heart. To understand the purpose of such a dance is to understand the creativity and imagination involved in getting it perfected. There are many things unsettling about the youth of today but instead of criticizing perhaps we should simply just listen. I wish I had the dexterity to perform at this level :-) Now, if it can be channeled into something more meaningful perhaps that would take it to an educational level. Or is it already there? Did you know Tutting is derived from the positions people were drawn in the days of the Ancient Egyptians. It is these positions seen in these portraits that have been adopted by dancers today.

      Tutting was first done in the dance popping, it's a sub style that falls under that category however if done by itself without "hitting" is a style of it's own. So understand that it's both it's own style and a style of popping...Yes it is created from ancient egyptian hieroglyphs and 90 degree angles, boxes, shapes, fixed line, other concepts etc...Finger tutting was later introduced by a guy called tiny love I believe with the influence of other tutting styles before it aswell as yoga hand mundras, qigong hand positions, meditation & healing hand signs, etc.. Now there's all different styles of tutting varying from king tut, 3d tut, wave tuts, reptilian finger tut, finger tutting, connecting, too many to name. All the above tutting styles don't just fall under the popping category but under multiple different styles such as turfing & gloving. No matter what dance style you do tutting in, it's still an individual style of it's own and always called tutting. So for example if you see tutting in a popping battle or turfing battle, it does fall under those categories of dance but it's still called tutting.

    It's pretty funny to see all the haters describing Tutting as a useless talent. I guess you aren't really telling a story but the whole point of it is to mesmerize your audience with a fluid and rhythmic motion using your arms, hands, bodies, and sometimes even your legs. This is extremely useful when dancing to pop and dubstep. I've even seen people use it in their breakdance choreos.
    tl;dr. This isn't a "useless talent". It's a difficult skill to master and it works well with other dance types (i'm not talking ballet or some shit)

In absolutely no way, shape, or form, does this video negatively impact any living being on this planet, yet you go out of your way to openly put it down. Is there anything to gain? No. However, we do know that when exposed to high levels of raw talent, people of your type suddenly feel extremely inadequate inside. You are threatened by this and it deeply hurts you. If only there were a way to get back at these people who are making you feel this way... I'll just call then stupid!.. Yeah!, that'll Show Em'! Tutting is not new, it's just new to white people. Like a lot of dances we've been doing for years. And it amazes me to see the folks who call it dumb or useless, yet there are tons of these kids, myself included, who grew up being inspired by this kind of art and therefor picked it up as a hobby and a passion of our own. And for most of us it's the kind of thing that prevented us from getting involved in negative shit. And like these guys, some of these performers who get really dope at it end up being able to travel the world and compete in competitions, and teach classes, and be filmed for the enjoyment of others and to inspire others with their art. Just because you don't understand something or because your non rhythmical ass could never aquire enough skill in your entire lifetime to pull something like this off, doesn't make it stupid. It's a form of art. It inspires others and it's harmless. And for those who understand the tremendous amount of skill and time required to achieve this level of performance, it's absolutely breathtaking to watch.

    this kind of stuff takes more skill than most people give it credit for it takes along time to get your body used to certain movements and stretches in order to do certain moves. it also takes allot of muscle memorization in order to complete combos. like me i have been doing it for about a year and i still kinda suck compared to allot of people on here

    From a breaker point of view( Bboy ,not break dance.) this stuff very much does require skill and patience to learn. It takes months to learn a single power move in breakin( flare,windmill,crickets,air chairs, etc.) and this right here takes patience and skill. Let me also add that I enjoy watching tutting and turfing and its impressive to me and yes I know about pocket,funt,lilou,boby,kolobok, all the top breakers but still I respect this as a art and as its own dance it's entertaining it's awesome to watch. Keep doing your thing and for the haters show some respect. (This is their basketball,football,golf,hockey)

    I'll give props to anybody who can gain the dexterity and finger independency to bend their fingers in these angles, and being able to move a single finger individually at will. (Not as easy as you think... Especially the ring & pinky fingers...) Not only that, but Bone Breaking and getting the perfect 90 degree angles in your fingers and wrists takes even more time. I stretch my wrists whenever I have free time and my angles still aren't perfect. People think tutting is just some new trend that randomly popped up. However, Tutting has been around for quite a long time, hence the name "Tutting" (Like the ancient Egyptians and King Tut, get it?) Though tutting of this style is new and only evolved to be this way recently, the roots of tutting go back to the 80s when poppers would dance to funk music and hit an Egyptian styled pose, then move on to the next. Dubstep, Nonstop, the rest of Dragon House, and the whole Popping/Animation style dance community among all types of other dancers definitely brought it out into the open more, and Tutting has constantly been evolving in ways to create geometric shapes and the transitions between these shapes. Some people might disagree, but to myself, to many other dancers, and even many people who don't dance, Tutting is an art form. It illustrates your music with an illusion that makes the mind go crazy. Most people I've tutted for look at it as if it's magic or something, so from my experience I'm going to say more people enjoy tutting rather than dislike it.

    • @jsmiles6889
      @jsmiles6889 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ronald Mcdonald You don't dance. there differnt styles in the one category "dance" and in each style a dancer does all those moves mostly come from how they feel they are expressing them selves thats why they say what its like but behind it there expressing how they feel inside and in the music. i guess your not a dancer so you dont under stand but don't be fooled by the eyes and guess something that its not. it is art. not just a performing art. think of it like someones painting a picture. look closely when you see them also making a picture and with in the picture they are making a story connecting while moving them and certain ways

    Tutting is a Sub style under the umbrella of dance called Popping. There are over 30 different styles in Popping. A lot of what you see here is Finger tutting. The style of Tutting involves making Clean 90 degree angles with ones body. It's basic routes started like the 2 detentional inscriptions that can be seen in many ancient Egyptian tombs and relics. The style has morphed into fingers tutting along with elbow breaking which is mainly what you see in this video. The beauty in this dance is in the creation of different angles while dancing to music. I enjoy tutting it is very difficult and takes years even decades to get a full grip and probably never will be mastered as new moves, styles and angles are developed. Thanks for posting. Just a glimpse into my world.

    Can't believe so many people who haven't even heard of the "funk styles" are hating so much on tutting, all of these styles have their history and yes, they are dancing, its a type of street dance, you don't need to be a professional dancer to know that or learn the history. I appreciate it, and it's not easy at all.
