Glee star Jane Lynch narrates this documentary about LGBT rights in America. The video features a candid interview with President Obama, who speaks about the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell, why he supports marriage equality, and what's at stake for the LGBT community in this election.

Thanks president Obama. I´m not american, but your message went far beyond the boundaries of your country. I feel so much better to know that a great leader like you respect the dignity of human beings like me and many others.
I remember crying when he mentioned our community in his inauguration speech. I'm balling my eyes out now. Re-Elect this man so that more can be done BUT elect a Dem house and Senate that will work with him not against him.
This made me cry and i not even gay.
I used to live in a certain area of Michigan where being gay is an absolute no-go. Having Obama fight for the LGBT community is such a relief for me! Now, even when I moved out of that area of MI, I still root for Obama. Because that I am able to walk hand in hand with my girlfriend, is something everyone should be able to do: Walk with the one you love without having to be super careful whether or not people are watching you.
I'm going to forward this to the next person who tells me they're disappointed with the Obama presidency.
Isn't it strange how we get so excited for something that should be obvious?
THANK YOU PRESIDENT OBAMA!!!! This really means a lot to young homosexuals!!! Obama 2012!!!!
i actually think he's done pretty well.
too much was expected of him; he's genuinely done a lot.
Thank you do much for being there for LGBT America! This means so much to me. Obama 2012!!!!
It is impossible to walk down the street and hold the hand of a person you love when there is no one worthy of your love in sight.
Im not American or live in the States, but I always supported Obama from the start. and he earned it.
This just makes my heart sing with joy.
im australian so what obama does doesnt affect me at all, but i must say that this man is my hero
"It's not just a matter of head, it's a matter of heart. It's who I am. It's what I care about."
Bravo, President Obama for standing in the right side of history!! :D
Great to have such a current-thinking leader.
Awesome video, summing up the President's support of LBGT civil rights and showing he understands this issue and CARES about it. Go, President Obama. I can't express properly how happy I am right now.
Takes a strong person to take this stance and I'm proud that person is our President.
I am a born and raised Canadian.. and I fully support this message and video. It's time for people to realize the truth.. People should not be defined by their ethnicity, race, sexual preferences, or any other "label" in Society .. WE ALL BLEED RED! Way to go Barack Obama! =]
Im not even in america and i'm impressed with what he has done for the LGBT community over there, which in turn, has lead to changes and discussions in the uk parliment too, like the gay marriage topic.
I really want Obama in for another term, the LGBT community still has problems and this man can help us on our journey to getting equality :)
I'm really starting to like this President. He's not the greatest President we could have, but I'll take him over Mitt Romney any day.
These three words that came to my mouth when I heard he is for same-sex marriage were
YES WE CAN!
Thanks President Obama!
It is a truly beautiful thing to have a President that fully supports our rights.
I love our president! So proud to have been part of the new wave of compassion that got him elected! OBAMA 2012
What I like the most about President Obama is that he has his views and his ideas of what is right, and he actually ACTS on them. God's message is to love one another, and twisting that message to suit your own prejudices and confusion is not what an enlightened and moral person would do. As he said, this isn't a nation of "Don't Ask Don't Tell." it's a nation of "Out of many, one."
As a Canadian, I cannot vote for him. But I SUPPORT HIM. I'm so glad, American LGBT, that your president FINALLY advocates for you. HOORAY!
such a fantastic man, people will be reading about how he has changed history in years to come.
Barack Obama is a really special man. I may not be able to vote for him (I'm Irish; I've lived in Ireland all my life) but I would if I could. I hope America realizes what it has here and votes him in for a second term.
He has supported civil unions in the past to give gay couples all the rights of a marriage while respecting traditional marriage, but the fact is that this would still reinforce an idea of inequality and wouldn't give the full respect and social value as a marriage would.
Truely a President who cares about the individual rights and freedoms of his people. Something that should be important of every President that is sadly over looked at times.
Marriage Equality is well overdue in the USA, and other countries around the world. Civil rights and laws are for everyone - regardless of your 'beliefs' on a subject, most importantly, the choice of religious belief should not stand in the way on Equality For All. Religion is a personal Choice, always a personal Choice even if your State attempts to force a Chosen deity upon all. Thank you President Obama - for all of your work supporting LGBT people here and abroad.
I'm from Colombia but I would vote for him if I could! I hope my president and all presidents around the world were more like him
Yes, it is Jane Lynch narrating.
And I sincerely hope that every single person who is singing his praises in these comments and in the whole LGBT community remember to show our appreciation by doing whatever it takes to make sure we are at those polls come Election Day. Our president has fought relentlessly for us..we are obligated to fight for him!
Lady Gaga said: Obama, Are you LISTENING?!?!?!?!?!?! And I think he heard very well!
Great video for LGBT community and for everyone in the World! Leading by example with this! Thank you Mr. President...... President of the Free World!!! from New Zealand :-)
Watching this vid made me tear up... I'm Canadian/gay but omg PLEASE let Obama get elected in November. I really hope he gets reelected. I just want to see America keep evolving because this is such an incredible time for not just the American but also int'l lgbtq community. I simply can't imagine what would happen if he didn't get reelected
Thank you Sir for all you have done. You are my president!
Why hate when you can love? I watch this video and I'm uplifted and joyful for my gay brothers and sisters. Some will watch it and feel hate. Hate for LGBT people and hate for President Obama. Why? How is that fulfilling? How does hate help you? Stop the hate. Start to love...or just live and let live.
Thank you so much for giving us hope for the future of our place in this country.
This is amazing. Now if only the whole country could have the same views. There needs to be marriage equality in ALL 50 states!!
Obama 2012. I wish I was American for one day so I could vote this man for a second term.
Thanks for all you've done President, I'm not from America, but from Argentina and I'm glad to say that in my dear country LGBT people have the right to marry the person they love. I'm also proud to see that in that great land of the North there have been advances in this legal question, and hope our American brothers get that waited natural right!! Espero que todos, en algún futuro cercano, alcancemos la felicidad de ser quiénes somos con tolerancia y respeto:) AMOR .
This heterosexual man thinks Obama has made the right call.
Beautiful video, made me cry! I like when he said 'it's the most important part of the (american) character to constantly expand opportunity and fairness to everybody!'
Thanks Ellen for the notice!
“No on in America should ever be afraid to walk down the street holding the hands of the person they love" *clap* I really agree with you Obama, I support you!
Also I love the fact that Lady Gaga is on the video, I mean no one, in the last couple of years, have been fighting for equality harder than Gaga.
(sorry for my bad english, I'm from south america)
Although I don't approve of gay marriage, this was very gutsy by Obama. Good move to fight for the rights of everybody. He should get reelect
I'm so proud of our President. Liberty and Justice for ALL, not just some.
Thank you Mr. President. I'm in!!!!!!!!!!!
You are the MAN President Barack Obama-You are the best President we ever had, and Thank you for doing what's right-Treating people equal. You definitely have my vote for 2012. Keep up the good work. Luv You.....
I am not sure I saw anything referring to the T in LGBT. Did I miss it?
If I lived in the US I would vote for him without a second thought.
Even if you believe in the sanctity of marriage, America is all about freedom to be who you want to be. Obama is just giving everybody the choice to be married, he is not forcing everybody to be married. The same goes with abortion. Women should have the choice to have one, even if an important official personally doesn't agree with it. This is why I fully support Obama, even though he is not perfect (who is?), because he gives everybody a choice.
I'm crying I love him so much.
Gaga and Obama♥
Together, yours can change the world, change how people think homophobic, because all are equal, WE ARE BORN THIS WAY ♥
PAWS UP!
so happy, and I'm not even American, I live in Romania
These comments seriously make me proud!! We cannot go backwards any longer. On to 4 more years moving forward with progress!! OBAMA 2012
AWESOME VIDEO MR. PRESIDENT THANK YOU STANDING WITH OUR COMMUNITY YOU JUST SHOWED WHY DEMS ARE SO DIFFERENT THAN REPUBS.... EQUALITY FOR ALL!
IT DOES GET BETTER!
Well Done! (From Melbourne, Australia)
I don't always sign in to youtube to like a video... but when I do it's about Obama
Thank you from just one of your many VOTING LGBT brothers......4 MORE YEARS
Brought tears to my eyes ! I'm out for Obama | Biden 2012 ! Thank you Mr. President ! You've changed the world for the better ! #firedupreadytogo
What a great man. What a great moment in time.
in tears. This is lovely and I'm from Canada. Go Obama!
Would also like to sat that I love my partner very much. We are getting ready to move to Las Vegas in a few months, and we VERY MUCH want to be legally married in our new home. It would mean SO much!
Thank you Mr. President your support means a lot!
Why do people get married? Can anyone answer that question? Is it to partner up with someone to make life's challenges easier? Is it to receive medical and financial benefits? Who is the biggest opponent of same sex marriage?
Although it brings electoral results, President Obama's support to the equality is something very noble, comparable to President Kennedy's efforts for equality of white and black people.
That's what America needs! BRAVE LEADERS. Obama2012, France stands for you!
Thank You !!
Oh Obama, you're not making me cry of happiness or anything...
Thank you, Mr. President!
Dear america, you did good with this one.. Don't mess it up. Love Canada.
he's definitely not perfect but THIS is the type of person that I want in office. Not a close-minded, disrespectful imbecile with no spine. You can tell that Obama has an incredible compassion for people and ultimately that's the type of leader this country should have.
Thank you, Mr President! You are a true leader!
Could this please be captioned?
yes, why yes it is. Such a great video, really share this one, we can't go backwards on the civil rights issue of our generation, lean forward and vote for Barack Obama
I wish I could like this a million times over.
55 people are uneducated people. Not bigots, just uneducated and misinformed. (This is also my way of saying we need to stop calling those who oppose LGBT rights bigots because it is not right to do so. That is just spreading hate back at those who hate us. Just something to think about.)
Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, Transgender
FIGHT FIERCELY MR. PRESIDENT! (Although with words, not violence of course)
This is incredible. I hope and pray that Obama has another term ahead of him, because he is truly a force of good and change in the world. We need him.
I would do anything to meet such an inspirational man. Obama 2012!
Clinton/Gaga 2016?
Thanks for the support Mr. President, it means a lot!
fighting for some of the best people, friends , I've ever known.
I think your English is great! I love what you wrote and I agree with it.
Well done Mr. President.
David B
Thank you so much Mr. President!!
America is truly lucky to have such an incredible President. It would be deeply sad if this great leader, with his strong convictions and unparalleled ability to be driven not by politics, but rather by the understanding of right and wrong (ending the war, saving the auto industry, passing the affordable care act, supporting gay marriage...) were not re-elected. America is making so much progress under his presidency. To lose what has been gained now would be a travesty and a crisis.
OBAMA 2012!
Out of many, we are ONE.
Obama is really awesome, although I don't really know why he is the first one to be supportive of gay couples. If a person loves someone, he or she should be with him or her, no discussion. It is really great to see Obama speak fo those people :)
My hero!
Lady GaGa ♥ LGBT :') Que orgullo...
Once again, our brave President proves that he cares less about politics than he does about PEOPLE. Thank you, Obama, for fighting for the beautiful, loving and awesome people I'm lucky enough to call my friends and family.
This is why I love him!
He appointed the first ever transgender appointee to his administration.
About Time A President Shows Love To The LGBT!!!
This is, I can't even...I'm just...speechless
great pleasure to hear american presiden ..,fight 4rights
a prez with guts and brains!
BTW Jane lynch is amazing!!!
I'm SO happy that I am old enough to vote this year.
Obama, I love you. Thank you so much for understanding our pain, and joining our fight to finally be treated equally and not judged solely based on who we love.
i know what love is and am thankful for the rights i have to my lover and i can't fathom the idea of taking those rights away from someone else. im glad legendary people are fighting for LGBT rights
