Then at last, he finds Andy; the guardian who failed to protect him from the horrors of Sid. Andy was the master of the puppets; the one who kept all the Toys enslaved in the desolate prison of his bedroom. And after all these years of torment, agony, anguish, Woody was the big kid now...

I think I understand. Sid is a metaphorical representation of Woody's insecurities and anxiety over the idea of not being Andy’s favorite toy anymore.
