Was there in 2018. I ran out of power using my phone camera taking pictures of each artifact displayed. Once in a lifetime opportunity but I should return in the near future 👍🏼. This was my culminating Etruscan experience after having visited the cities of Volterra and Populonia in the same trip.
If anyone is concerned about crowds, this is the museum to visit. Even in high season there aren't many people there which is sad because the collection is incredible, vast and very well organized plus the setting, the villa itself, is stunning.
@@furanpyon Yes, I was there in August 2021, high season, and most of the time was alone! The labels were just Italian, I translated some with Google Image Translate, but learned more from watching this video at home than from visiting!
Sir, i didnt get the part about a tomb. It has been found and transferred to a museum? If i got that right, why? Where from? From underground tumulus? What for, i dont get it. Could you explain that?
It seems odd that the narrator is using mostly Roman names for gods and goddesses that existed long before Rome. Please use the proper Etruscan names especially if you’re standing in an Etruscan museum.
etruscans > latins European Union values come from Etruscan values, not Latin or Greek. Also the reason why the renaissance and reform movements started in Florence is not the immigrants from Constantinople, but the descendants of the Etruscans.
You are holding in your hands one of the burial vessels, in which the soul was before ascension to heaven. A naked man is depicted on the vessel - this is a new celestial body, the wings indicate a soul in a new body, because a bird serves as the image of the soul.
Etruscans were a branch of the indo aryan Lydians neo hittites who are the Hittites who came from ancient Anatolia. They were 100% not European Caucasians. They were mixed with the dravidians of the West who are original Mediterranean and Sumerian people who are canaanites. They were fair and dark

The statue of the couple looks so modern. Fascinating.
They are stars in the museum. Truly a famous couple that inspires us today!
thank you all for your comments and sharing. We are going to feature many more videos from the Etruscan Museum, so stay tuned!
Endlessly fascinating, this stuff really gets me going.

Well worth the visit...easy to get to on public transport.
That’s on my to-do list now! Thanks for the excellent video!
Always a pleasure to see Darius' latest videos......besides, once an Etruscan fan, always an Etruscan fan.....:)
you are to kind. WE look forward to also sharing Darius with a whole group of experts of Rome and Empire in 2020.
Well stated, thanx😁

Great episode thanks
Incredible. SO many famous works here. Yet another wonderful place I wasn't lucky enough to visit while I was there.
Couldn't agree more! The video serves as an enticing (we feel) video on the rich collection.
For all the spectacular greek and roman statuary, the simple elegance and beauty of line, that is almost modern, should be celebrated so much more.
Fantastic!

Yes, that tomb was transferred for conservation purposes.

The boxers fought to the death, heralding the colliseum, and gladiatorial fights...death games became popular
