History of the Etruscan Culture: the First Great Italian Civilization

  • The Etruscans, who knew themselves as the Rasenna, were a culture that flourished in central Italy in the region of Etruria between the 8th and the 3rd century BCE. They are first mentioned by the Greek writer Hesiod in the 8th century BCE and were the first great Italian civilization before the Romans. They were a major trading entity in the Mediterranean, and in the ancient world, they were renowned for their mineral resources. Although much of the Etruscan culture and history was obliterated or absorbed by the Romans, many Etruscan tombs and their contents, wall paintings, and Roman adoption of Etruscan material and religious culture have survived. The Etruscans lived in independent city-states, linked only by their common language, religion, and general culture. This means that art, governmental and architectural developments happened at different times in each city, since they were working autonomously.
In central Italy during the Iron Age, a culture began to develop in around 1100 BCE, and they have been called the Villanovan culture. These peoples were actually what we know as the Etruscan culture in their early form. The lack of evidence showing that there was warfare in the region, or migration of new peoples, suggest that the Villanovan people never left, and the Etruscan people never arrived, but they are one and the same.

The Etruscans took over the culture from the Greeks. ivy, vine, pottery. To the early 5th century B.C. By Bucchero Bucchero was being replaced by finer Etruscan pottery, such as black- and red-figure wares, influenced by imported Greek pottery of the period. The Etruscans had their own language and script. The script evolved from an early Greek script. It is read from right to left! Although readable, it is completely incomprehensible as it is not related to any known language. The religion was also influenced by that of the Greeks. Important gods were called Voltumna (later also called Vertumnus) and Tinia. It is noticeable here that the ending -a in Etruscan is not automatically a feminine ending (unlike in Latin). Tinia's wife was called Uni (corresponding to the Roman goddess Juno), her daughter Menrva (Roman: Minerva). Three temples and gates were dedicated to these three in Etruscan cities.

Destroyed with reason but today history science says that they can not understand ( I think reading to) their language! Like the forcing the name "etruscan " but in reality they never used such name ,they called them as Rasens ( and they know that, but are they want to hide or to mislead something?)like in the comments Etruscan are Turks, reason is only similar name and means that Asian mongolid tribe has traveled from today Turkmenistan across whole Asia and central Europe over the Alpine mountain and settled in the today Italy ,grounders of Rome , hi advanced architecture, alphabet, culture and tradition and at once very skilled overseas sailors!!! No offense to Turks( turkmens, huns, azers, kazakhs, tatars and not sure for the mongols are Asian tribes who belong to somehow turkic nation or origin!! The Huns are the first known Turks in Europe, second are Bulgars than the Selchuks who have settled in small Asia and at last the Osmans in ca 13 century but until 1456 (not sure exactly what year) they conquer the Constantinople (second Rom, today Istanbul) and over take the imperial throne were they have rights to claim impartial crown Al's the ruler of whole Roman empire (western and eastern)! Today like Gobekli Tepe ist introduction as a turkic ancestory without doubt even if the Selchuks were first settled in 8-9 century (tribe who had been integrated into the culture and peaceful people) ,the Osman Turks were invaded in Anatolia in 13 century are the bye today history science directly decedents of the oldest culture in Europe history, only honest the today Turks are mixture of the (romantic people- let's say today Greek) Persians (Kurdish, Iraq, Iran) arabs (Egyptians) and Balkan people ( all conquered countries we're someone converted to Islam they are became Turks those who are not agreed (in my country every 3 years have the Turks in every village invaded and searched the children from 3 to 8 max 9 years old boys and abducted from parents (because staying in the Christian fate and paying the taxes this one was special tax only for some nations named "paying in blood " those children are trained and educated in special warriors units called yanitchars and elite army of the Osman Turks!!! Many of these children have not forgotten their language and their names and with gain of power they have helped their people and resurrected church (Mehmet Pasha Sokolovic have recreated Serbian patriarchy and reduced tyranny and to same time rebuilds the orthodox churches and built mosques but bridges and rebuild the cities, he on the highest position right under the sultan and his brother is Patriarch of Serbian church) time of rebreathing and prosperity in Serbian and Bosnian territory and funny thing is that the first converted to Islam are arbanasen or the today Albanian the second and the last one are the today (Bosnian Muslim or new Bosniaks) differences are that Albanian from beginning and Bosnian much later ca 300 years later in middle of 15 century ( those Turks who have invaded Bosnia have spoken same language and they accept Islam with out resistance until that moment because on opposite sides they are under constant attack of Roman catholic (the highest number of crusades wars was in today Bosnia and Serbia region) same after battle in Kosovo 1389 right after second battle of Kosovo are against Hungary and allies, and if the battle is lost against the Turks why they retreated back and after 50 years invaded again (the first one and the biggest battle of defending christianity and Europe, where after first defeat in battle of Plochnik the Turks are using the whole power, number of from 100000 to 300000 thousands on their side and our from 30000 to 100000 warriors, relatedness 3 to 1 for the Turks ( western Europe speak over the myth and lost of the Christians and the numbers are 12000 to 18000-20000 Turks ,they minimized the number (biggest battle in history of Europe) and unimportant to Europe future (why the Vatican send congratulations for the Christian victory or in Not hre dame the bell's are baling for Christian winning) but why the same Germans ca 50 years before are the personal guards of Serbian imperator like teutonic kings or before them the Saxons are the miners in Serbian kingdom or before at 4th crusade the Keiser Barbarossa is received and his 30000 horsemen as guests in Nish from Serbian " despot " to relief and refill groceries for the mission (the German chronicles recorded the art of music and the instrument (gusle) and the art of the revival and what kind of food have been presented (30000 knights and horses are usual) and what are they behaving before and after? The chronicles say that the armys have understand they like if they have one language spoken (German chronicles means german or slavic , but the Sorbs or real name Serbs are ingenious in eastern Germany some 600 years ago before! What can be the language?)And how is possible that this despot has married the princess of Anguan blood lineage the oldest France rulers and directly descended from Isus Christ! After that marriage later the Bosnian ruler have married from her blood and last the Hungarian king have bond with this bloodline, the today Bosnian use the lilly flower as they only have been used and the Kotroman ruler as the Bosnian king only Lillian flowers are in use bye the Serbs about 250 years before ( Serbian propaganda because this is the Bosnian legacy) and second first Bosnian king his testimony was king of the all Serbs and the claim territory were he only remark the Serbian people and their territory upon his ruled in his legacy he is proud of his Serbian holy blood and his Serbian accent even origin of documents they are (Serbian propaganda) but 350 years old Muslim intervention are enuff to forget real name and past that they belong and to be biggest enemy of the people who are was same

I will explain who they are exactly:
The discovery of Tartessos has been one of the most important recent discoveries in Mediterranean archaeology, showing that the Tartessians were in many ways the equivalent of the Etruscans in Italy. So far they have only been known from a couple of obscure reference in Herodotos, but now archaeology is uncovering this remarkable civilisation, comparing Tartessos with the Etruscans.
Both cultures are considered to be unknown mysteries, both languages are undicifered yet based on the Phoenician alphabet, AND both belonged to the same world's trade route of their Phoenician (Canaanites) partners:
    Tyre --> Tarsus --> Cartage --> Etruria --> Tartessos
Tarshish is not just a name of one place, it is a nation, a greek sub-race of people, and all that proves that the people of Tarsus-anatolia, Etruscans of Italy & Corsica, and the Tartessians of south Spain, Gibraltar are in fact one people who gave their name to all 3 places: TARSHISH
The geographer Strabo states that Tarsus was founded by people from Argos who were exploring this coast- another proof of Greek origins.
Recent DNA research appears to show that at least part of the Etruscan population was related to people in Asia Minor, similar DNA tests on goats and cattle suggest Herodotus was right about Anatolian origins
Old languages have called Etruscans by different names. The Romans calledthem
    Tursci or Etrusci.
In Attic Greek they were called
    Tyrrhenians.
    The related name
    Teresh
was used by the Egyptians, who also knew them as "Sea People"
DNA analysis of Etruscan remains has revealed their links to northern Anatolia, whereTroy was located. The latest genetic finds in a few isolated towns in Tuscany have showncloser genetic ties to ancient Anatolia among the living population, unlike what is common in the rest of Italy. That points to their earlier home, before their coming to Italy. And since the Dardanoi derived their name from Dardanus (Dodanim), the founder of Dardania, an ancient city in the Troad, and Rule of the Troad was divided between Dardania and Troy + Homer makes a clear distinction between the Trojans and the Dardanoi- means that: Troy = Etruscan colony
Dardania = Dorian colony -->2 sub-races of Greeks (Yavan)
The root for Tarshish in the Semitic hebrew language of the bible is RSS, which quite resembles the name the Etruscans used for themselves: Rasana

The most common motif for mirror decoration was mythology, and scenes are often framed by a border of twisted ivy, vine, myrtle, or laurel leaves. The Etruscans copied everything from the Greeks. The Greek gods had ivy in their heads and most of the pots are copies of the Greek pots. The script also contained Greek letters, only the Etruscans wrote from right to left.

Demaratus (Greek: Δημάρατος), frequently called Demaratus of Corinth, was the father of Lucius Tarquinius Priscus, the fifth King of Rome, and the grandfather or great-grandfather of Lucius Tarquinius Superbus, the seventh and last Roman king.
Demaratus was a Dorian nobleman and a member of the Corinthian real house of the Bacchiadae. Facing charges of sedition, in 655 BC he fled to Italy, according to tradition settling in the Etruscan city of Tarquinii, where he married an Etruscan noblewoman. They had two sons, Lucius and Arruns.
Demaratus introduced Greek culture to mainland Italy, and brought potters from Corinth; Greek potters worked at Tarquinii and its port, Gravisca.[
Tacitus reported that Demaratus brought literacy to the Etruscans.

@@wardafournello Demaratus was the king of the Tarkynians
Corinth in the middle of the 7th century BC. century it was a thriving commercial city where goods from the ends of the earth gathered. From East and West, ships laden with all kinds of goods anchored in its two ports, Lechaion on the Corinthian Gulf and Cenchrees on the Saronic. The city was ruled by Kypselos, father of Periander, one of the 7 wise men of ancient Greece. At this time in Corinth also lived Dimaratos, a man of noble origin from the family of the Bacchiades. Kypselos, for reasons we do not know, expelled Dimaratos from Corinth. Having no other choice, he took the path of alienation like so many other Greeks before and after him. He boarded a ship at Lechaio and besides his intelligence and boldness, he took with him a painter and 3 potters who made large clay statues. He knew that these four would be very useful to him wherever he went among the barbarians.
The ship full of goods crossed the Gulf of Corinth and opened into the Ionian Sea, from there it sailed to Hydrunda (Otranto) which was at the "heel" of the Italian "boot". He crossed the Straits of Messina in Sicily and from there he crossed to Naples, reaching his final destination in Etruria. He arrived at Graviska and the port of the city of Tarkynia where he settled together with the 4 artists. Dimaratos became well-loved among the Etruscans with the intelligence that distinguished him and the culture he brought with him. He began to trade in technical and artistic products of Corinth such as black-figure amphorae, jewelry, perfumes, textiles, copper trinkets, etc., making great profits.
Corinthian vases became popular in the market of Tarquinia and then throughout Etruria, thus spreading Greek art in central and northern Italy. The three potters he brought with him made large clay statues that adorned the temples of Tarquinia, who were the first to introduce this technique to Etruria. The Etruscan cities were now decorated in the Greek way. The painter he took with him created many works worthy of admiration for his contemporaries. Dimaratos spread the arts and letters among the Etruscans, thus raising their intellectual and cultural level. He married a local woman and in time became king of the town. He acquired wealth and power after a few years of residence in Etruria.
This spread of Greek culture brought many Greeks to Etruria, thus creating a district in the Tarkynians that consisted only of Greek craftsmen and artists who trained nearby the local craftsmen.
The years passed happily for Dimaratos, his wife became pregnant and gave birth to a baby boy, Tarkynius Priscus (616-578 BC). The little boy grew up, became a man and went to Rome to seek his fortune, which was then a small and insignificant city on the banks of the Tiber River. There he befriended the king of Rome, Agos Marcius. When he died he assumed the guardianship of his sons and ruled Rome for 38 consecutive years building great technical works such as the great hippodrome and the great aqueduct, a marvel of engineering that survives to this day. He was called Tarquinius Priscus the Elder and was the fifth king of Rome. We do not know how and when Dimaratos died, but he probably died of a peaceful old age always thinking of his beloved homeland, Corinth.

      "Italian cattle DNA
A study of DNA from eleven rare breeds of Italian cattle identified Near Eastern
haplotypes in Tuscan breeds,28 and this led to a hypothesis that the cattle arrived
in Tuscany with Etruscan settlers in the Late Bronze Age. Earlier studies of cattle
DNA also detected genetic variation in European cattle that can be associated with
southwest Asia, where Bos taurus was originally domesticated. Those studies also
identify the highest levels of alleles associated with Bos indicus (zebu) in Italian
cattle and relatively high levels of them in Greek cattle, and these are said to derive
from cultural associations between Anatolia, Greece, and Italy over the past three
      millennia.29
A more comprehensive study concluded that the cattle originating in the Neolithic
in the Near East also have mtDNA deriving from North African cattle and wild
aurochsen; it presents a circum-Mediterranean distribution of cattle DNA illustrating
that the African (T1) and Near Eastern (T and T2) haplotypes are found around most of
the northern shores of the Mediterranean, making the Tuscan cattle less of a special
case that could be associated with a hypothetical migration of (Etruscan) people from
      the Near East."

The Etruscans or as they liked to call themselves the Tursaka's were a frontier Turkic state, part of a huge central Asian confederacy stretching back to Japan, being a front line state they brought with them all the advances of a Turkic nation such as farming, mining the extracting of Iron and steel but most importantly they brought their religion of GÖK TENGRI (one creator of everything from sky), and how to adopt it socially for a society that is just and masterful, one of the artefacts unearthed in tuscany shows a female wolf, that wolf is called Asena, a Turkish diety could be as old as 30 or even 60, 000 years old, and suckling the one found in Tuscany are non other then Romulus brothers themselves, this Tursakan depiction also them telling us who were the real culture that made it possible for them to found the future roman Republic

Etruscans were called themselves as not Rasenna, correct is Arsenna. (According to the Chinese historic empire writing, Gökturk's were called themself is Asenna. By the way, there is no R letter in Chinese language) Their origin is Turan family. or you can call them as proto Türk. Their religin, language, culture and also their wearing are Turks's middle asia culture. (According to the climate, their daily life they wear less thing than middle asia but their religions man called "cam" (Turkish "kam") wear as in the middle asia. he wear trousers, boot and hat that top is sharp and it cover his ears), red and white colors are holy in Etruscans and Turks (Turkey's flag colors are red and white), wolf is holly/respectfully, also they and us have wolf mithology, mars is war god's symbol, they sacrifice horse for gods (as proto Turks) and also before this sacrifice , they had a festival (as proto Turks in middle asia), etruscans alphabet have 6 letters shared with GökTurk alphabet (Orhun monument, 5-6 centruries), There are 2 letters only in the these two etruscan and Gokturk alphabets. ....Their language writing right to left (not like latin alphabet), etc if you interest Etruscan language, you can read isac taylor's book.

The etruscans are fascinating, i just came back from Italy were i visited a lot of old etruscan sites.
However, the etruscans can´t possibly be the first great italian civilization. Proof for that can be found at the many sites with mgealithic and polygonal walls in Italy, like Norma for example, that are claimed to be etruscan, but the sophistication of the stonework is so far ahead of etruscan and roman stone work that this had to be there before. the etruscans and romans just built on top of it.
on top of that the exact same style of polygonal walls can be found around the globe, in turkey, greece, the middle east, egypt and south amercia. this stuff is way older and the remnant of a lost global civilization, probably destroyed by the great global cataklysm that brought the ice age to an end around 12.000 years ago.

FI… some etruscologists agree on that, others believe they arrived from the Black Sea. Some German etruscologists believe they are indigenous to Central and Northern Italy. . There are other linguistic origins that coincide with Etruscan, including Rhetii , in the Tyrol region of Central Europe and the Danube.
Unfortunately, their language was generally written in ink on linen and other perishable materials. They’re still making new discoveries though. Hope we’re still alive when they make the latest breakthrough.
