  • Munqst has been going crazy with his Sledgehammer Scorpion setup. In this mechabellum multiplayer game we face the composition. Can we defeat the treacherous Scorpions?

    I think Fortress, and mustangs works pretty well, they clear chaff, and distract hard hitters like marksmen. They sit under the shields, and are protected by it, instead of regular chaff, that just charges forward into certain death.

    A good idea might have been the elite hackers because they would distract the slow double shots of the scorpions and delay the approach of the crawlers.

      yea hackers are very good against any board without fast clear. Don't need them to be elite though

    The Stormcallers were perfect against his composition, also 2 Vulcans behind the Fortresses could have helped more than 2 extra fortresses.

    He had a lot of crawlers. Your forts were too busy shooting at them. If you went vulcans sooner or maybe wraith, you wouldnt even need the nuke

      maybe, its hard to know the exact point to go them since the fang summon clears a lot as well and you never know what the enemy will do

    Nuke and similar are op. I understand why he rage quit. They defy the strategy of unit choice and placement all game for something you can't plan or defend against, other than keeping your units spred out

    I really like sledge starts too they turn into a good a “heavy chaff” in the latter stages of the game that lets melters and other carries sit back longer they are a bit weird to play with and around though because of their hybrid nature of a dps / chaff unit
    To be fair though I’m a lower mmr player so things are diff down there

      I also have no idea why he didn’t shield for a nuke that late in the game with like 8+ forts down its asking to be clinched

    shield fangs are good against high damage low rate of fire units like Scorpions. Also you already had some fangs and fang production on multiple fortresses.

      Yeah but the Scorps already had double shot, would make no difference if the Fangs had shield or not since the 2nd shot would take them out anyway.

    His comp did not have a single anti-air unit. He just knows your love for fortress spam all too well :) Im also surprised you didn't shield the fangs.
    Extended range sledge is a monster of a unit, especially if you don't deploy on the line. Forts are so overwhelmed with good teches and people rarely put extended range in their comp. Once EMP hits its game over for forts. You just need something to actually pump the damage. I personally think he would have been better served by melters in this game, but he got the scorpi for free and commited to them.

      No point in shielding the fangs when the opponent has double shot on Scorpions ... First shot disables shields, second shot makes them go toast... To be honest, his mistakes was not taking mustangs + range to deal with the constant fang summoning. Just 3 or 4 units + range will have cleared the chaff in front of those fortresses, while the scorps do the damage to the fortresses, instead of constantly on the fangs. Also not sure why he used underground crawlers, replicate might have been more useful as a longer living chaff in between the fortresses. also: Lack of scorpions... He leveled them too much, going level 2 = ok, but after that it becomes a resource sink because most of them keep shooting summon fangs. He needed more scorpions ...
      So in my opinion: Mustang + range, use the level resources into more L1/L2 scorpions + Not fire on the storms but EMP!! Kills fortress shields faster, disables the tech = less damage on your troops from that ##@# punsh, slows down the enemy, and kills chaff anyway.
      People just love to use fire but emp is way stronger, especially on a giant spec or defensive opponent (what technically Rat is because Fortresses are slow).

      @@benjiro8793 I think Scorpions are more often than not used 'weirdly' like this, also not sure why anyone would pick double shot over acid?
      Sure double shot deals with shielded Fangs but if you are using Scorpions as chaff clear idk what is going on in the game... and yes they do a lot of damage with double shot but acid more than makes up for it, small/medium things die anyway to a Scorpion due to high initial damage and the acid % damage per second is amazing against high hp targets AND the additional +250% damage on ALL following attacks is also crazy good value.
      Meanwhile double shot be like: huehuehue now it takes even longer between shots so any shot wasted on chaff hurts even more and the only real use for it is to kill shielded Fangs! Amazing!
      Get some Mustangs or something to deal with Fangs/chaff instead and you get some anti-air as well which the Scorpions also need help with!

    Just gonna drop that Elite lvl3 Hacker will basically make scorpions useless. So many shots to be wasted on single crawler picks.

      they are bugged. Sometimes they dont even shoot it if they die pretty slowly. but they are supposed to shoot it even if they are one shot

    Are vulcan’s just bad now? I feel like they get outclassed by mustangs, wraiths, and fire badgers at this point

      they are pretty good with items against certain boards. But not a unit you can go often

    Why no fang shields? Maybe fang range would have helped to deal with the crawlers?

      in the mid game he had doubleshot scrops and i was expecting fire later. If i go something i go mech rage on them
