Staying in NE, I just love how passionate Sekhar ji feels when he speaks of this region. He always pulls up interesting anecdotes of his tym here, possibly could write a book on NE. This one particularly felt like it was not driven with the tons of paper work n research, it felt like he just heard Mizoram n felt passionate to speak about it n loved doing it. Perhaps the rest of India should be a more generally aware of NE and it's history pre or post independence, which the academics miss, news from here don't make it to headlines unless some polarizing statement comes forward. Shekar jis interest is the only silver lining in an otherwise ignored NE

Brilliant, SG. Though small in numbers, the Mizos have won the hearts. They have shown how, if one wants to live and let live with dignity and peace, Indians and Indian Constitution can fulfil their aspirations. Our northern brethren should hear out Zaari, the young militant who now is part of the political process.

Well the pentagon chief Lloyd Austin did mention in his recent India visit about northeast India for a start. That's the advantage of living in an interconnected world. The peculiar aspect of Indian journalism is its lopsided attention to limited geographical areas. Whether it is intentional or habitual like carrying
out a tradition inherited by someone. As a result,we know nothing or very little about each other. Deep inside ,we are muzhiks , our attention being limited to our villages. That frog-in-the well kind of looking at the world is now expanded to the borders of our province. Our world is co-terminus with our state boundaries. What evidence one needs?. One has only to look at the mushrooming provincial or regional parties and their kind of politics. They are too pre-occupied with their politics and have hardly any time for promoting knowledge about inter-state education. Print under Sekharji is trying its best to fill up the big gap in Indian journalism, which includes all the media and trying to cover the areas ,hitherto orphaned like N-E and to some extent South of Vindhyas. Watching you, Sekharji , gives an idea about the little known aspects of life in NE. I am 68 now and many of the events and episodes, you speak about in retrospective are known to people of our generation. But when you say, you have also been in the midst of action as an eye-witness or at least had the opportunity to meet the protagonists as in the case of gulf War or Naga peace talks or most important the ISRO spy case, you lend an authentic note to the event, besides being a living encyclopedia of these events, about which we had only known through newspapers then. There lies the importance of recapitulation of some of those events in modern context.

Mizos are homogeneous tribe while nagas are heterogeneous . Naga insurgency won't die soon , because all the tribe have a different view and there is always a replacement of leadership by one or the other tribe . Though many different opinion of the tribe , the view of unification of all Naga inhabited areas is the same .
Insurgency still has support but vast majority also believe in the democratic secular India but without compromising their demand for unification .

Most Mizos would still prefer independence from India. *They want to form a separate Christian republic.* Likewise for most Nagas and Meghalayans. “Nagas will never be part of Indian Union nor will they accept India’s constitution” NSCN’s Thuingaleng Muivah
Reiterating its position that there can be no "honourable solution" to the Naga Peace talks without a separate flag and a constitution, National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah) chief T Muivah on Friday said Nagas will "not merge with India".
In his annual 'Naga Independence Day' address, Muivah said, "Nagas will co-exist with India sharing sovereign powers as agreed in the Framework Agreement and defined in the competencies. But they will not merge with India."
"The Naga people have neither accepted the Union of India nor her Constitution at any point of time. History will ever speak of that fact. We will not accept them today and even in days to come," the NSCN(IM) chief added.
Muivah claimed that both flag and a constitution were symbols of Naga nationhood. "We are not asking for Naga national flag and constitution from the Government of India. Recognize them or not, we have our own flag and constitution. The Nagas must keep their flag and constitution," he said.

If every state start demanding special status, independence, then what will happen to Union of States, that is India.

states that keep getting ripped off economically and culturally/linguistically(hindi imposition) will always complain-though they wont demand spcl status indep., etc - as they're settled. the states that do the ripping off - the bimaru ones - wont want out coz they need the money while wasting their enormous human and natural resources riches. they're just biding their time until we all completely destroy our regions, dont have enough population to sustain growth, etc . then the swarms will come. states like the NE - if china wasnt the monster it is , they wouldve probable seceded long ago - though now chin, burma, bangla all believe its just a matter of time now. nuclear?? why bother - world now believes we'll implode on our own.

You talk as if Mizos don't deserve having a state, as if Mizo people are a nuisance. Mizoram was already on its way to becoming a separate state even before the rebellion. The MNF after all didn't fight for statehood. Mizoram was an autonomous District Council even while it was under Assam. And got UT status in 1971. It would have been granted statehood anyway even if the Mizos had not rebelled. One thing that changed however is the introduction of Article 371 G which grants Mizoram considerable autonomy besides being a State in India.

Next year is elections, but Mizoram will not have an election and all our leaders will also be not able to campaign. The reason for this will be that they will be all dead or ill. And one thing for sure is that, our leaders will also be not from our state from next year. (Sorry my English is rough😅😅!). Before 1966(The year in which we Mizo revolt), a man named Saikhuma, the last Zawlnei, who foretold about the future of Mizoram in 1962-1965, said about, Thimthuahkhat, Thimthuahhnih and Zoram Khawvar. Thimthuahkhat was already fulfilled which is the 1966 revolt, and now we are in the era of Thimthuahhnih Prophecy. After that Zoram Khawvar will be fulfilled. No projects in Mizoram should be given to the Ambani's and Adani's.
Gautham Adani has got Projects with the Military Junta in Myanmar and this will have Great International Border Security Problems in India like in Ladhak and other regions.
For India buffer zones in our Border States are very important since China is a Major Threat.

Topics related to NE gain such low views while any random topic related to mainland will have millions of views within hours. Sad . It shows the mentality of Indians. They don't seem to be interested in this area. A sense of nonchalancy comes out of this. Don't know when mainland people will open up their small brains. Only when NEastern jawans die or during an Olympic medal success heads turn this way. Floods, fires, politics, violence are not even reported by MSM. Such bigotry by a set of people who have relatively no foot in the international stage.

No mention of Bru-Reang crisis. Just because Mizos are Christians and Brus are Hindus . Isn't it ? @ThePrint @ShekharGupta. This hypocrisy and sickularism of yours prevents me from subscribing to you irrespective of otherwise great content .
