For real, I ended up adding a mod to increase the level cap because I was already level 12 by the time I hit Act 3 and there was no motivation for me to continue if I wasn't getting anything for the XP I was gaining. By the end of the game, I was level 16 and almost level 17. Larryan could have very easily made the level cap 17 like a proper six-book adventure usually is. I don't think I'll ever understand why they opted to cap it at 12.
I don't need sequels. I could be just as happy recognizing a voice actor in other games or media, that doesn't mean I don't like sequels, most of my faves are sequels. Anyway I'm rambling sorry.
Also, they have given us modding support so now the players can make DLC and the game goes on living. Completely agree that BG3 is a complete game and completely agree I wouldn’t want someone slopping out a product they don’t care about anymore so I’m cool with it. And I hope Larian Studios finds their next passion piece
Larian really did an AMAZING job with this IP. It felt like it was made by people that actually play DnD at a table. The writing, gameplay, voice acting, and attention to the smallest detail were all so phenomenal. I can appreciate their honesty in saying that they won't do a sequel. And Neil really hits the nail on the head. 100% agree.
BG3 is one of those games where you can play again and again over and over and still have never gone through every piece of dialogue and every role with and every map. It's truly an amazing game.
BG3 doesn't need a sequel or DLC or anything. The game is so expansive and well-done that it's a prime example of what games could be if they knew their desired playerbase well, and they develop it with both quality and quantity in mind.
It ALSO shows that they gave us the full package. They didnt hold anything back from release, and yes sometimes they have ideas for additional content after the fact, or something during production prevents them from including it at release. But lets be honest. DLC became about more money, not more content.
the voice actor looks better fitting than his in-game character. [in-game] Astarion just chills at camp 99% of the time except for that one time I "accidentally" threw him into a chasm.
The biggest reason they aren't making more games in the series is it already took a small eternity to make BG3. And it was long enough that even the fans were questioning if the game would even be finished. And while they delivered a quality product, having a big project constantly second guesses by the people you're making it for is extremely disheartening.
I think the main reason is Hasbro firing all the people on the D&D team that Larian was working with on a daily basis during their downsizing. Larian announced quickly after that that they wouldn't be doing a sequel or DLCs. It may not be public facing to most BG3 players but Hasbro has been a villain in the D&D community for several years now they're really killing the game. They took a game that 95% of players didn't need to spend a dime to play and are trying to turn it into a subscription based online-only IP and then quit publishing books once they're making enough money.
@@MannyBrumso heres the reality of the situation. They cut down a team with nearly no work. It was over twice the size of the 3.5 team, they weren't putting out even close to the same number of modules, they didn't have even close to the same number of IP licenses that they had to help out, they no longer had 2 magazines to manage, and they no longer play tested material, instead they sent it to notable players to play test. As for moving to online, without doing so they've been unable to protect their IP from an entire multimillion dollar industry that has formed, such as roll20, playroll, Dungeon Alchemist, Talespire, or any of the other companies that rely on DnD for their own product without giving a single cent back. They legitimately need to if they want to be able to protect and control their own IP going forward.
Fantastic response, the source material is still there, a new comaony can pick up BG and he can still easily make a return so it isn't anything to worry about.
Its a great call from the devs to not do a dlc because theor hearts not in it. But please maybe look for another studio with people who would want to. Even just adding modding tools wpuld make a great addition to the games ecosystem
Baldur's Gate 3 has had mods for a long time, but they've already announced that they are implementing modding tools in the next major patch. Larian Studios has never really done expansions or DLC for their games, And I really respect them for that. When you buy a game, it's a complete game. And I don't feel like they're trying to squeeze every penny out of me like a cash cow. (cough Paradox cough)
GM mode is coming and they fully support the modding community already so I imagine we'll be building our own worlds out of what they offered us. Many other sales-driven from the top, while the artists and devs are at the bottom would be an entirely different scenario. I never worry about a micropayment out of Larian.
Wasn't it not because Larian didn't had interest in doing BG4 or something else in the Forgotten Realms, but because Hasbro did inexcusable things like laying off a s**tload of people because short term benefits of shareholders and Swen still has a spine?
I don't recognize the actor at first sight at all but I immediately knew who he was the voice of upon seeing the thumbnail. Hearing him speak only confirmed it
Fortunately, Baldur's Gate was a complete story and didn't have (too many) cliffhangers demanding a sequel. I think Neil also knows that whatever Larian makes next, they will call Neil to do a voice again anyway.

By the end of the game, I was level 16 and almost level 17. Larryan could have very easily made the level cap 17 like a proper six-book adventure usually is. I don't think I'll ever understand why they opted to cap it at 12.
@@PalleRasmussenIn Baldur’s gate 2, a character can get beyond level 20 and it works well imo. Maybe 5th edition is different.
I don't need sequels. I could be just as happy recognizing a voice actor in other games or media, that doesn't mean I don't like sequels, most of my faves are sequels. Anyway I'm rambling sorry.
A full game needs no DLCs. And this guy did so well in his role, it will get him other cool jobs.
Man I can see Astarion in his movement and voice lol...Bro just acted so well in game lol. Glad he got the award...
Also, they have given us modding support so now the players can make DLC and the game goes on living. Completely agree that BG3 is a complete game and completely agree I wouldn’t want someone slopping out a product they don’t care about anymore so I’m cool with it. And I hope Larian Studios finds their next passion piece
I think he internalized a lot more of Astarion than just his laugh. He is looking mighty fine in that outfit
His va looks like him ahahah
You can tell they modeled the characters after their actors to some degree.
Well they are also the mocap actors so it makes sense
Larian really did an AMAZING job with this IP. It felt like it was made by people that actually play DnD at a table. The writing, gameplay, voice acting, and attention to the smallest detail were all so phenomenal. I can appreciate their honesty in saying that they won't do a sequel. And Neil really hits the nail on the head. 100% agree.
WotC lost a golden goose, but then WotC is known for pulling bullshit both with products and the people making their stuff
Artist recognizes artist while answering corporate greed question. They will never understand walking away.
Love Neils response and completely agree, respect that mindset of the devs and I super love this look of Neil. Like…come on now 🫣🔥
BG3 is one of those games where you can play again and again over and over and still have never gone through every piece of dialogue and every role with and every map. It's truly an amazing game.
For real. I'm a completionist type gamer, and even going through and doing as much as I can, I can tell there's just SO much I'm not seeing.
Been Neil's fan for years.. The experience of watching him finally make it, was unreal.
If you feel like a rock star, dress like one I say lol
I love this man
BG3 doesn't need a sequel or DLC or anything. The game is so expansive and well-done that it's a prime example of what games could be if they knew their desired playerbase well, and they develop it with both quality and quantity in mind.
He has the heart of a artist not many of those around these days
in the normal hollywood space, not really, but honestly there are a ton of really beautiful souls in the voice acting space
It ALSO shows that they gave us the full package. They didnt hold anything back from release, and yes sometimes they have ideas for additional content after the fact, or something during production prevents them from including it at release. But lets be honest. DLC became about more money, not more content.
*Neil Succeeded a Wisdom Check (Critical!)*
...
🧛🏻♂️ *_Astarion Disapproves_*
I could not adore Neil Newbon anymore. He's such a fantastic voice for gaming and gamers.
steal this man
the voice actor looks better fitting than his in-game character.
[in-game]
Astarion just chills at camp 99% of the time except for that one time I "accidentally" threw him into a chasm.
I hope Larian cast him in another big role in the next game
Lots of respect to the company for not just trying to make money but actually make quality products
I think the latest patch (or at least the upcoming patches) for BG3 would be focus on modding support, so there's that!
Wow, that was really concise yet deep. Well said!
He should narrate romance novels.
What a guy, he has never had a bad take in my opinion
Wasn't it not because Larian didn't had interest in doing BG4 or something else in the Forgotten Realms, but because Hasbro did inexcusable things like laying off a s**tload of people because short term benefits of shareholders and Swen still has a spine?
Larian doesn't like publishers, and layoffs were definitely a big factor in their decision
I can't believe they interviewed a goose about baldurs gate 3
Non elf Astarion
I appreciate all this, too! He makes many great points
They need to make an Avengers style live action movies for each of the main characters for bg3, then culminate into a Bg3 movie.
Underrated comment
Excellent choice
Hello no...
WotC would ruin it, hard pass
"Neil approves"
"Astarion disapproves"
He looks like till lindemann
How?
I've always kinda thought this too, it's the jawline and eyes I think. This is comparing him to younger till
Larian gave us the foundation. Time to build our own kingdom with it.
He gives me the same vibes johnny depp gives and i love it
Terrible man to compare to Neil
True, he seems similar to Johnny Depp on this video.
I don't recognize the actor at first sight at all but I immediately knew who he was the voice of upon seeing the thumbnail. Hearing him speak only confirmed it
This is why Larian and the entire cast and crew involved made a fantastic adventure with BG3
He did such a great job, I hope to play more games with characters he voices in the future.
Why is he so beautiful and well spoken?? Ahh. Im so pleased to be in neil's "i'm him" era 😭
His outfits kinda giving mintharas camp clothes in the best way
he's so beautiful, im dying
Wow, Astarion irl really is just happier, less murder-y Astarion.
His goth meets rockstar look is amazing.
Fortunately, Baldur's Gate was a complete story and didn't have (too many) cliffhangers demanding a sequel. I think Neil also knows that whatever Larian makes next, they will call Neil to do a voice again anyway.
so he is actually Astarion in real life now, word
Hes so well spoken I love it
