I think the reason Nogla stood and watched the lava is because he thought it would be as slow as regular lava but in the nether Lava moves as fast as water.

Heres a small tip: when youre in the nether, you cant place a water bucket. But if you make a cauldron and put water in it, you can put yourself out (from fire).
