As i local of Fredericksburg I'd like to share some helpful advice 1. DONT waste time at wildseed farms theres literally nothing to do unless you are over 70 and love flowers, not even any hiking trails. 2. you will regret going on 290 i know 3 ppl that have already been hit there in this year, so many drunks, if youre looking for a drink id recommend altsdorf or the fredericksburg brewing company. 3. lyndon B. Johnson park is actually is stonewall a 30 min drive from fred 4. DONT EAT AT AUSLANDER IS SUCKS SO BADDDD. thats pretty much it other than the theater company is bad

That WW2 Navy museum is real good. My Dad served on the battleship Pennsylvania during WW2 and was even at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked Dec. 7, 1941. After the battle was all over, he and a buddy of his took apart a Japanese fighter(I think it was a Zero) plane's engine and took souvenirs. My Dad got a piston and used it as an ashtray until he had to stop smoking in 1986. When he passed away in 2002, I got the piston. It's pretty big and heavy. It's 5" (129 mm) across and weighs over 2 1/2 lbs. (1.167 KG stamped on the underside of the piston) You can even purchase a brick there that has your name and what ship you were on during WW2. They will verify where you were and then put the brick in a walkway there.

This video is too fast. The guy speaks like a robot, you barely have time to read the name of the location he is speaking about, I’m not even able to write them down. Man, slow your pace. Take it easy, people watch these video because they are going on vacation.

Having been through Fredericksburg many times, don’t get why they refer to that as a hill country…there really are not many hills and it is definitely overrated. Nevertheless, there are a couple of good German restaurants there in that town.

I'm surprised that many German's emigrated to Fredericksburg since the climate is so much different than in Germany. I grew up in New Jersey and my mother who grew up in Bremen Germany could never acclimate to the summers here.

I used to go to Fredericksburg when I knew a gal that lived there. The countryside is Nate and Luckenbach was fun.
But I think Fredericksburg is overrated and way overpriced. I haven't been there since 2002 so I imagine by now you would have to have two pockets full of gold even go eat lunch. And that is not just my opinion. 🤔

Maybe I will retire there? I see the summers are a bit hotter than New York for example but the autumn looks very nice. Cost of living looks very good, and all the German food I could want! :)

How about crime, cost of living and real estate costs?? Age range??
    Taxes?? Medical care?? Airport??

Lived here for 25 years now after retiring from the military. Crime? Very low, good Police and Sheriff departments. Cost of Living and Real Estate. Cost of Living isn't too bad. Real Estate however, lots of people moving in and bidding up prices. I'm going to skip to taxes as they're related. There is no income tax in Texas and Sales Tax is reasonable, Property Tax is the prime funding source. Your property tax is determined by the size and location of your property and the most recent sales of similar property. People are moving in and buying property. Guess what's going up. Age Range is about normal. It could be the German Stock of most of the population, but there are quite a few "older" people living here. Medical Care is excellent, much better than could be expected in a smaller town. Additionally excellent hospitals are available in Austin and San Antonio if specific specialization is required. The Airport is Business and Recreational aviation only, no scheduled airlines. But, both Austin and San Antonio Airports are about an hour or so away.
      Great place to live.
