What a thorough kit Mark, excellent, I was going to say you could print a lozenge pattern onto tissue paper which is a technique used a lot by freeflight modellers. You could tissue over doculum. Anyway you've sorted it now so Jonathan's technique will be interesting to see, cheers
Wow Mark great complete Flair kit. Looking forward to seeing you build it up and seeing your scheme. Thank you for encouraging me to finish my clipped wing cub build. Jeff in LA USA
Happy days mark really enjoyed that box reveal, great score ,I just received my new build today for next year from the wife, well I brought it ,and told her thanks Darling for my present, she is not happy ,ya can never have enough planes 😂😂😂
I'm way across the Pond, Flair has always been highly thought of here. I nicked one for $65 off of Ebay. I can't wait to watch your build. I'm using Spoonflower covering. Cheap and easy. Watch the TH-cam video how to. Engine a .70, .80 or .90. I'm not sure what the best would be. Advice is a Welcome. The problem I notice is, Americans are Lazy. Foaming Electric what we Fly now days. I love building. The Flair kits are Outstanding, having all the little bits like hinges and tank etc. That comes in the kit. I have the Ben Buckle DVIII also. That ones gonna be Modded like crazy. A upgraded balsa covered wing. Thanks again for another enjoyable video!!!!
Looks like a great kit. Too bad they are out of business. I will have to see how fit they build any WWII kits. That is more my style. Wishing you and your family a blessed Thanksgiving from this of us across the pond. I don’t think it’s a holiday for you, but you can live vicariously through us. Crack on!!
I was going to mention Cliff Harvey's method of printing the lozenge pattern on tissue and putting in on top of Doculam, but I see Cliff beat me to it!
I'm SORRY, but I have to correct you on the Flair DR1, It was most definitely a kit in it's own right at 1/4 scale. I built and still fly one. Looking on some other sites I think it was model part number 1031. Yes it followed the same build style as the Baronette and was/is a cartoon scale. I can however be made (as you have been doing) to look much better. I have powered mine with a Super Tigre 2500 / a EME35 petrol (to much really) and when it gets it's next make over in the new year a DLE30 petrol.
Think you misunderstood me while there is a 1/4 scale DR1 by Flair this is not build from a kit but has been build from the plans. A practical stand off scale design.
Hello Mark Croucher, So this is your new project? Another very nice model. I hope you enjoy putting it together! I would like to know how much wingspan and weight the model has. Greetings from Lübeck Germany
Will definetly follow this build Mark🤠👍🛩️🇿🇦

Think it's going to be a great project, I love building and it's even better if I can encourage and support others in giving it a go.
I can't wait to see the D.7 build. I have one too.
Yes, those isometric drawings are a real plus . Can't wait for the build videos 🎉
I could look at plans like this all day long.

Thanks for the kind comments, I have a Flair D7 with a 90 4 stroke up front, rarely get past half throttle but no lumps of lead up front.
That Flair Kit is a treat Mark, thanks for showing us. So sad that great precision Balsa Kits like this are no longer made. cheers Paul
It's a real shame, I was very fortunate to snatch this one up.
Very true regarding kits now day s ya can get em but ya pay though the teeth for em or if ya lucky there around

To steal an idea from one person is plagiarism to steal from many is research 😂
Another fun project, at least you are starting it next year 😊
That's the plan! 😅
@ Tomorrow then 😂

It's such a shame that they are no longer available.
A very interesting video, showing a brilliant Bargain from a swap meet. any chance of putting a link so we could all see Jonathan's work ?
I'll post a couple of photos with his permission.

Hello Mark Croucher,

Wingspan is 1550mm weight 3.3/3.8 kg. Stay tuned
Okay Thanks!
So nice to see some one building thier own planes. The sea of ARFs at the field every week is just so boring.
Its not for everyone but it's an important part of the hobby for me.
