Magma Dragoon, a mix of a bunch of different street fighter characters, specifically, Ryu, Ken, and Akuma, heck, Magma Dragoon has Akuma's prayer beads.
It could be because at the time, Capcom was celebrating the 10th anniversary of Street Fighter, so why pay tribute to their flagship franchise by immortalizing it in a maverick?
Nailed that melody, Ren! Also it has a lot more energy than the original - not sure if that's good or bad, as the original was extremely subdued. I salute the only Reploid in the X series who spoke before AND after his defeat.
Don't forget the distinctions of being the only Maverick to appear in two games (in the same form) and to have two battle themes: he appears in X5 as well.
Oh shit, it's here! Hot damn, this is freakin' fantastic. Really captures both the atmosphere and power of the original, and hell, amplifies them even more! Loving that driving bassline, and the lead sounds brilliant. I don't think I've put a video into my favorites quicker than I have this one =P
Actually, he's Akuma in Maverick form. Look at how Magma Dragoon holds his hands in his fighting stance, and what he's wearing around his neck. He's totally referencing Akuma, which makes him the most badass Maverick around.
There's that Power Rangers The Movie drum once again. I LOVE that drum beat. Also, this and Jet Stingray tie for second place on my favorite X4 tracks.
He was in Power Fighters, though. Not sure how different the instruments between the two games are, although I remember the sound quality being significantly worse while playing through Power Battle on the Annniversary Collection, as opposed to Power Fighters.

Timothy Parham No. He's the boss of the Training Stage you access from the menu. The fire-themed boss of X5 was Mattrex.
It's actually Burn Dinorex.

Another tell is the diagonal flying kick he performs. Ryu has no such move in his arsenal, but Akuma most definately does.
