There is a resting spot you see when they softdrop into the spot, when the top right mino or pixel rests on that mino, it helps and the official tetris company also know this as it was featured in puyo puyo trtris

I think it only works when there’s the 2 wide gap above the hole. I’m assuming you do the opposite rotation than normal (so for an S spin you would do ccw?), but i haven’t tested this yet.

The z on top of the l makes a landng slot for the z piece to rest on, then he rotates the z clockwise while softdropping causing the z piece to kick into the z shaped hole below(according to hardrop wiki,its a -2,0 kick since the piece's center of rotation is kicked 2 blocks down). This is a quirk of the standard SRS rotation system most modern tetris platforms use where piece kicks like this are possible even though they seem impossible
