🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺 Well "Gooday" BEANS! Love the UK .... my Ancestral Home ! Granddad, the 6+ one left Preston, Lancashire, in 1834 met his Irish lass, married and started our Australian family, (on my Dad's.) Just made it out of England in March 2020 before we locked down. Meant to come back August to organise a 60 birthday ! So very keen to come back to my second home !
Cheers guys 👍 I've been to Exmoor. Stunning place! And as a fellow Brit, I too can confirm what you said about how we like to moan. WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS BLOODY WIFI 😂
Cornbeef Hash: 1 tin cornbeef , 2 carrots sliced, 1 large onion finely diced, 2 potatoes diced, 1 beef oxo cube. 2 - 3 teaspoons bistro gravy granules. 1 - 1 1/2 pints water. Method: add onions, carrots, potatoes and most of water to pan, boil gently until all veg are soft. Add oxo cube and can of cornbeef. Gently simmer do no over stir. Then add gravy granules and more water if required as there should be a thick ish gravy. You decide how much water you prefer. To bulk out, this recipe 2 good quality sausage could be added for extra flavour browned in pan first before starting veg. Then just slice sausage and start the recipe. Hope you try and enjoy, good source of iron from cornbeef. ❤️
Fave one pot meal.. xx cook up a spag bog mix - however you normally do it Once cooked, pop into a large place (or whatever plate you will end up eating from) Grab yourself some fajita breads and a bag of grated mozzarella, Then start layering like a lasagne - spag big mix - cheese - fajita - repeat. Lid on and leave on low for a bit to let everything mix up Then slice like a cake and eat :) Yum yum :) Fellow camping Brit - I can cope with any weather apart from the in between stuff !!!! Give me howling winds and thunder and lightning- but who needs drizzle !!! No one !!! Love ya both x
I love seeing the English countryside and all of those quaint little towns. When we were camping we would make “omlettes” in plastic zipper bags. You have to use a larger size because the bag is thicker. We would crack a couple of eggs into the bag and mush it all up. Then we would add our fillings of choice like maybe onions, cheese, mushrooms, ham, etc. Then you place the bottom of the bag with the egg mixture into a pot of boiling water until the egg is cooked. You can eat out of the bag. Only dishes to clean is the silverware and you already have hot water from the pit the eggs were cooked in 👍🏼
That beef stroganoff looked easy & delicious! Bravo 👏🏻💜❤️ I love ❤️ watching all of your adventures. You find the good in everything. Complaining is part of life but you do it with class! Have a fabulous day, From Northern Virginia, next to Washington DC
Kara's peanut butter Ramen 1 Onion 1 green or red pepper 16oz mushrooms 2 cups of broth three Tbl spoons peanut butter ramen noodles cayenne pepper salt start by sautéing the diced onion, then pepper, then sliced mushrooms, add the broth and season, add the peanut butter and ramen noodles. If you have problems finding ramen noodles, buy 4-5 of the cheap instant ramen bowls and just take the noodles for your dish. Let it all cook until the noodles are done and eat! Love you guys. PS Garlic, I forgot four-five garlic cloves finely chopped.
When Alex said his breakfast sandwich was so beige I about died laughing. I often think that about our favorite winter comfort foods like chicken pot pie and sausage gravy and biscuits.
No way to be remotely sad watching your videos!! Maybe before watching but never after…so delightful being allowed in to see a truly joyous couple! Ofcourse, laughter is like a medicine…no doubt that’s why y’all are continuously healthy! Thankful for this spoonful of medicine today!!
Ahh Gwen! That’s such a lovely thing to say 💛 thank you! It makes us so happy to hear that our videos can bring a smile to your face 🥰 thank you for your lovely comment and for watching!
With both of you laughing all the time, I bet your baby will be born laughing, no crying. Lol. It will be wonderful to have you both as parents. Will you adopt me. Lol.
We Dutch have similar weather and a similar love of complaining about it 😂 When it rains my husband let's me know about 50 times a day how miserable the day is. But in summer he complains it's too hot! My go to one pot meal: chop garlic (lots) and 1 yellow onion, sauté with lots of olive oil, chuck in 500 gr of washed risotto rice, add chopped courgette (we do 3) and ham cubes(250gr?), add boiled/hot water until covered. Keep at a soft boil and stir now and then until water is almost gone, add more water if risotto needs it, when done add lots and lots of (goat) cheese, mix well and enjoy. It looks like mush but tastes great!
For someone like me who cannot afford to travel abroad, i get to see those wonderful places through your videos. Thank you for sharing for experiences. I really adore your vlog. God bless and safe travel always.
I'm pretty sure it's the lack of vitamin D. Over cast winters often made me miserable. But during the pandemic doctors encouraged taking vitamin D for immunity and inflammation benefits. Now with vitamin D 10,000 IU I'm happy every day no matter what the weather. Try it, prove me wrong Alex!!! That's a challenge for you mate.
AG1 Should help with that too as they apparently give you a years worth of Vitamin D - but remember your body cannot absorb it without A And K very key elements there people don't know or forget
I agree!! My dr even thought I was anemic by my symptoms and appearance. Nope! Vitamin D deficiency! Got on a high dose regimen and never felt so good in my life!
Alex you are lucky to have Emma as your partner. She laughs easily 😂 Your videos are a joy to watch!. How perfectly suited to each other you seem! I wish you both health and happiness 😊
Love your videos so much, lots of lovely laughter and honesty. I love the idea of a beige sandwich, I know exactly what you mean!! I really love Clovelly, the sleighs are for the residents to fetch their shopping and transport things up and down as cars aren't allowed. Apparently they used to be pulled by donkeys but that's no longer the case. (By the way I believe it's pronounced Clo Velly not Clover lee lol). Keep up the good work, so many great adventures to come and, soon, a lovely new bean to join in with them 🥰
I loved seeing the English countryside, absolutely amazing! And I wished that I were sitting there in that little pub having biscuits & tea, in front if a fireplace on a chilly winters day! I could have spent all day there! But, I can’t imagine paying to enter a town, how un-hospitable!
One pot meals?? Ramen is the ultimate! Buy a good quality ramen like Shin Ramen and then you can supplement with any leftover veggies, proteins and eggs cooked right into the broth. ANYTHING goes with ramen. You can't beat it for convenience, transport and preparation. The possibilities are endless. Oh and if you're worried about sodium content, just add more veggies into the mix and less of the seasoning packet. Taste as you go. It is so yummy and versatile. It never ceases to amaze me that a woman's body is capable of producing and carrying another life. Women were born to sacrifice and nurture. Emma, you are amazing!!!! Stay safe!!!!!
Clovelly is so pretty but so steep to walk back up. The sledges are used to put their bins out as no bin lorry will fit down the street, so they have to pull their rubbish up to the top.
Try some scouse lad a Liverpool staple look it up on the tube on how to make it but only use proper stewing steak an a little kidney you will love it one pot meal great show you guys keep it up 👍
I love Low Key Beans, when you play that smooth Jazz and just be domestic. AND We adore it when you complain because it makes you so British and shows you are real and most likely just like us. Love you Beans and that cute Baby Bump is killing me.
Greek beef stew (stifado) You can look up a recipe but it is basically a stew with pearl onions, tomato, red wine, garlic , allspice and serve over mashed potatoes. You can use any meat the name in Greek means game stew. The onions take out any gamey taste
Really enjoy your content, you two are just lovely together , and yep too much dreary weather wears on the body and mind and spirit- I have to actively cultivate joy by literally imagining the feeling of joy! (complaining doesn't do it for this American) however, Alex if you make this dish for Emma, I predict you BOTH will be experiencing a lot of joy!!! 😉😂 Brazilian cod (fish) Stew Recipe - 🌸1 1/2 to 2 lbs of fillets of firm white fish such as halibut, swordfish, or cod, rinsed in cold water, pin bones removed, cut into large portions- I have also used salmon 🌸3 cloves garlic, minced 🌸4 Tbsp lime or lemon juice (used to soak fish in before cooking but also a total must during serving!) 🌸Salt & Freshly ground black pepper 🌸Olive oil 🌸1 cup chopped spring onion with the greens, or 1 medium yellow onion, chopped or sliced 🌸1/2 yellow and 1/2 red bell pepper, seeded, de-stemmed, chopped (or sliced) 🌸2 cups chopped (or sliced) tomatoes 🌸1 Tbsp paprika (Hungarian sweet) 🌸Pinch red pepper flakes 🌸1 large bunch of cilantro, chopped with some set aside for garnish 🌸1 14-ounce can full fat coconut milk directions: In a large covered pan (such as a Dutch oven), coat the bottom with about 2 Tbsp of olive oil and heat on medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook a few minutes, Add the bell pepper, paprika, and red pepper flakes. Sprinkle generously with salt and pepper. Stir in the chopped tomatoes and onion greens. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, uncovered. Stir in the chopped cilantro. Lay the fish pieces on the vegetables, Pour coconut milk over the fish and vegetables. Bring soup to a simmer, reduce the heat, cover, and let simmer for 15 minutes. add more salt (likely), lime or lemon juice, paprika, pepper, or chili flakes to get the soup to the desired seasoning for your taste. Garnish with cilantro. Serve with rice or with crusty bread, or since I am low carb I add in riced cauliflower, which can be added with the onions and peppers- this is a very tasty dish that is super nutrient dense & I never tire of the taste😋
You two are so much fun! And it's so nice to hear British English. I am Belgian, but my late dad was from Oxford, married my Belgian mom and lived here in Belgium for most of his life. I was thus raised bilingually (Dutch/English), so proper (British) English will always be my favourite 😊 Mind you, I have also lived 7 years at the Arctic Circle in Finland (Rovaniemi) and 7 years in Odessa, Ukraine. The stupid war forced me to come back to my home country Belgium. Not regretting it though, I have certainly found a second love for Belgium again ❤ As for one pot recipes, one thing I always loved was a mix of all kinds of stuff: Boil chopped up chicken breasts with some bouillon cubes, and add some pasta (I love the spirellis). Add some diced up potatoes as well. After a bit, you can add whatever else you like. I used to add onion, garlic, mushrooms, carrots, peas. Spice it up with some curry. When it's all tender, add cream and/or flour to make the liquid thicker. And enjoy! I loved this during Winter time 😊😋
In that private village you are exactly right about the sleds they're for goods because it's so steep and cobbley and the fee is the control over tourism is the summer
"hamburger soup": brown some ground meat and onion, add broth (chicken, veggie, etc), add a bag of frozen veggies, whatever herbs you want (I usually use thyme and bay leaf...I'd add thyme to just about anything if I were allowed), add a can of diced tomatoes...let simmer til veggies are the consistency you want).
I can’t believe you’re not even at 300K subs yet. My goodness, your videos are funny, informative, educational, and just a darn good time. You two are so sweet together. Keep the videos coming. Can’t wait till the littlest bean arrives!
I live in Perth Australia. It has the most sunshine of all major cities in Australia. Over 300 days a year. So a cloudy, wet, cold day looks beautiful. I yearn for that weather.
One pot meal- can of pork n beans, 1/4 cup ketchup,1/4 cup brown sugar, dash mustard,2 cut up hotdogs. Mix all together and cook in a pot til heated up good and enjoy. Crackers are good with it.
Recipe please! That meal looked delish. Getting recipes from your subscribers is an excellent idea. It would be a great segment to your travel series. I suggest you watch the TH-camr channel MAV that is also an outdoor/camping series. He also cooks meals on his channel inside his camper van and tries recipes his fans send in. I recommend an Instant Pot if you have the room. Love your channel BTW.
We're not sadd, We're going to Mexico tomorrow... if our flights okay...and they don't lose our bags! Wife and I always look forward to watching you Beans every Monday night.
Speaking of weather and mood: I remember a group of young Israelis visiting us in Germany some decades ago. After 10 days of tourism in lots of interesting places we asked them what they had enjoyed most. Their answer: "The walk in the rain..."
my current favorite (very simple, but very delicious & affordable) one pot meal: sauté chopped onion + chopped poblano pepper in a little coconut oil. Add garlic powder + ginger powder. Then add the flavor pack from one package of ramen (my favorite is soy sauce flavor.) Add chopped bell pepper + chopped tomato. Next, add the noodles from the package of ramen and water - not completely covering the ramen, just covering it about half way. Cook with the lid on over medium heat. Stir the noodles around after a couple minutes so both sides get submerged in water (they come apart easily after cooking for a little bit.) Next, add two slices of swiss cheese (I use dairy-free cheese, but I’m sure regular swiss cheese or any cheese you have on hand would be great.) Finally, stir in some garlic chili sauce and serve sprinkled with chopped green onions - seriously so easy and creamy and packs so much flavor!
They say : "You can never go home again ". In your case Alec and Emma, it's the van. It gave you an opportunity to reconnect with family and familiar terrain. It's not always about the weather. You asked if we had any suggestions for one pot dinner recipes. The simplest is stir fry anything you have available and add some of your favorite oil and spices. Well done Alec for the wonderful meal you made. Harriet and I never miss a video. Sending much love 🙏❤🙏 Harriet, Jim and Yuki. Richmond, Va.
One Pot Chicken Orzo - chicken thighs with skin and bones (trim fat), salt/pepper, brown in butter until skin is good and brown. Take it out. In same pan, sautee portabello mushrooms sliced (or any mushroom), spinach and a bag of orzo. Fill up with Chicken broth or water or combo (chicken broth will be more flavorful). Put chicken back in skin up cover and cook until chicken is done. One pot Ground Italian Sausage (or Ground Turkey or Chicken) - sautee shallots/minced garlic until translucent. Then ground sausage/turkey/chicken whatever you prefer.... season with S/P and Italian seasoning... once it's no longer pink - add orecchiette (ear pasta cuz of the shape) by feeling amount.. then add chicken broth... cover and cook until pasta is done to desire. Add arugula (rockets) at the end. Grate parma cheese to finish. two of my go to recipes on our travels when we roadtrip. Enjoy! ~Lissa
We visited Clovelly many years ago, at that time there was no admission fee. It is such a beautiful little village, we have two prints hanging on our living room wall called “up along Clovelly” and “down along Clovelly”. Brings back great memories of that charming village.
Your mushroom stroganoff looked delicious. A dish that I find fairly quick and easy to prepare and cook is bacon tagliatelle. It needs two pans though to cook the pasta separately to the rest but it only takes about 15 minutes to cook and ten minutes to prepare the ingredients 4 slices of bacon sliced and diced , frozen bacon is easier to cut as it’s not slimy. A couple of teaspoons of green pesto , a clove of garlic chopped, half a yellow or red pepper sliced into small pieces. A couple of sliced mushrooms. Half a pot of crème Fraiche, and some grated Parmesan cheese to stir into the sauce. Fry the bacon off with chopped garlic then add the mushrooms and peppers and cook until soft. Stir in a couple of teaspoons of green pesto and cook through until the pesto is cooked into the ingredients. In a separate pan boil 4 bundles of tagliatelle for around 12 minutes with a pinch of salt to season. A few minutes before the pasta is ready boil some frozen garden peas in the same pot as the tagliatelle or cook in the pan with the bacon and other ingredients. Carefully stir in half a pot of crème fraiche but don’t let it get really hot or it will split. Add the cooked pasta and stir to cover it with sauce and serve. Also add some grated Parmesan to the sauce and stir in to melt. Quick and tasty food and cheap to make
I absolutely get affected by the weather here in the west of Ireland in winter... wake up and see sunlight and..wow ..energy and the winter landscape is so clear and it's more beautiful than in Summer. Wake up and see dull grey cloudy sky, that sheet of gentle Irish rain blown sideways past the window by a gale force wind ..and knowing that grey sky will shorten the already shortmid winter day.. and the energy saps right from one before the kettle's even boiled.. ah well then it's, on with wellies and the raincoat .. and who knows, tomorrow might be sparkling clear and beautiful again... oh the joy of anticipation and living in hope .. it's worth it! 🤣🤭🥰
1lb. Ground beef, browned in skillet; 1 can spicy diced tomatoes; 1 packet taco seasoning; 8 ounces spaghetti, broken into smaller pieces; 12 ounces water. Brown beef. Add everything, continue cooking, covered, until pasta is tender and liquid is absorbed.
I lived in Seattle for 22 years. My depression was horrible. I now travel full time to follow the weather in the US. I'm fortunate that I don't have to go far to find dependable sunshine. I think having sense of humor, as you both do, helps with not letting the gray weather get to you. Love your channel!
I love how much you too laugh with each other, I'm on my own now with 3 kids but watching you guys and some of my other favourite you tube couples really does make me smile!
I have a favorite 1-pot meal that is super easy: Turkey Chili I'm in the US, so some of the ingredients are in ounces. I don't know how they're measured elsewhere. 1 lb ground turkey 1/2 small onion, chopped 1 28- or 30-oz can of plain crushed tomatoes 2 16-oz cans red kidney beans, rinsed 1/2 small green or red bell pepper, chopped Salt & Pepper to taste oregano - a good sprinkling chili powder - ditto cumin - about 1/2 teaspoon or so (best to use whole cumin seeds and crush them yourself to release the flavor - you can do that with the back of a spoon on the cumin in a small bowl) Brown the turkey, add the onions and green pepper and cook until they are soft. Add the kidney beans, crushed tomatoes, a little bit of water, and the spices. Cook on med-low heat (gently bubbling) for about 30 to 45 minutes, until it's reduced some of the liquid - stir occasionally. This recipe is easily customizable. You can leave out the onion and/or pepper if you like, and add hot sauce or Tabasco if you want some heat. Serve topped with some grated cheddar cheese, a dollop of sour cream, or chopped red onion. It's impossible to get it wrong. Makes great leftovers! I usually have a green salad with it. You can also use ground beef and black beans for Black Bean Chili. When I made wit that way I also added some finely grated carrots.
@@jt.s.7418 You can add it if you want. I don't usually put garlic in mine. It's a basic recipe that can be changed very easily. I don't associate garlic with chili, maybe it's a regional thing. For me, the onion and cumin are essential. But the chili powder/chili seasoning I use has some garlic in it, anyway.
I live in Somerset and have an 8 month old boy. I recommend walking all of the costal path from Minehead up to the Valley of the rocks it's unbelievable. I only explored there after lockdown. Maybe not recommended heavily pregnant though lol saying that I walked up cheddar gorge in my third trimester and was fine haha
Mexican Rice 1 pound ground beef 1 packet taco seasoning 1 can cream of mushroom soup 1 can diced tomatoes and green chiles 2 cups cooked rice Shredded cheese (as much as you like Brown meat add seasoning. Mix in soup, tomatoes, rice then cheese at the end. Easy one pot meal. Has been our go to for over 20 years.
My husband's grandma got it out of a magazine in the 90's. And it's great because you can switch it up to chicken or whatever cheese you want. When we were doing keto I would use cauliflower rice and heavy cream instead of soup. I hope you like it. It was supposed to be put in a pan and top with cheese and in the oven. As I got older and lazier, I just threw the cheese in at the end and called it a day... 😆 I hope you enjoy it.
I make a similar dish using a bag of frozen corn instead of the mushroom soup. Then top with sliced avocado, or guacamole, or sour cream, or some combo of said toppings.
Absolutely amazing video to just watch and get emerged into a whole new experience. As someone who was once very adventurous and was not afraid to create, coming across something like this not only brings old memories, but creates a certain chill in my body to get out there and make videos again. Thank you so much for such inspiration.
when I was in the Army the worse the weather the happier I’d get the more miserable the lads got the bigger my smile got I think there’s something wrong with me 😂
My family loves "terrible" weather! It means no one else is out and about and we get all the things to ourselves! 😂 Clouds, fog, rain and snow give us a thrill! 😊
Peanut butter chicken! 1 onion 2 cloves of garlic Chicken thighs Bouquet garni Bay leaves Tomato paste Chopped tomatoes Peanut butter Sauté onion and garlic then add chicken thighs until lightly browned. Add tomato purée, bouquet garni, bay leaves and chopped tomatoes then cook on low/medium heat. When cooked through slightly shred the chicken thighs and add 1 tablespoon of peanut butter then just add the rice ! Total comfort food in one pot 😋 Love your videos and here’s to many more 😊
Another awesome video. You three are so much fun! Here ya go.... A few one pot/skillet meals. Sweet Potato Hash: In a large skillet, saute some diced or chopped sweet potato in olive oil until nearly but not quite fork tender. Then add some chopped onion , garlic, and zuchini and continue to saute with sweet potato until done and nearly caramelized. Add salt, pepper, and cumin then add some ground chorizo sausage or whatever sausage you've got and sear it off good. Push everything to one side of the skillet , lop in a little butter and crack a few eggs into the pan to fry. Mix it all up, toss in some cheese if you like and a splash of Cholula Hot Sauce. Smashing! Ribollita (Peasant Stew): Chop a couple carrot, an onion and a couple stalks of celery and toss in a pan with some olive oil to saute until translucent. Toss in a can of crushed tomatoes, a can of drained cannellini beans, some chicken broth or stock, a small wedge of parmesan, pepper, dried basil and oregano. Add some torn kale and crusty bread. Delish and so comforting! Posh Beans on Toast: To a pan add olive oil and butter, then add some broad beans or lima beans, peas, pearl onions, a little chopped garlic, a squeeze of lemon, some chopped parsley and green onion for flavor and color. Spoon onto a slice of crusty bread and crumble some feta over the beans. For Alex: Slap another piece of crusty bread on top and you've got a post beans on toast sandwich! lol Enjoy and as always, safe travels Beans! My best, LIsa G.
Right Alex, as you asked I have a meal that is easy to prepare, easy to cook and maybe not so easy on Emma's internals and it is this : Buy a Turnip (Neep) , skin it and cut into smallish chunks and boil in salted water for about an hour till soft. But that is not the meal side of it, as you need 2 bowls or Pyrex deep dishes and into them large spoon 3 spoonful's of Rough Oatmeal. Add salt and black Pepper for taste, give it a swish round and ladle off as much of the turnip bree as you want. The more you have, the better the meal is. Stirring continuously so there are limited lumps , when the bree turns cloudy, spoon into your gobs and feel the heat internally slide down to your gullets. And that is it 2 satisfied well fed adults and the Neeps can be used for another meal the next night with dare I say sausages and mash or an alternative !!
Here in Astoria Oregon on the coast we get a lot of grey, wet, gloomy days too, but when the sun is out, it's glorious! You two crack me up. Taco soup is good. 💜💙
We here in the Pacific Northwest in USA have the same weather and reactions to it. Except that if we have dry sunny weather for too many weeks, we start whining about drying out and blowing away. Plus if the temperature goes over 80-85F we are melting and non-functional. 🥵 Love your videos. Stay safe and warm.
I lasted three years in Oregon and had to go back to California! The first year was great but then the constant rain got to me. Summer was great though.
Beef stew is always a good one pot meal. Mac n Cheese (but you can add veg to it) If you have a sauté pan you could always do a stir fry. You could probably do this in a pot. I’ve just never tried that method. I like making cashew chicken: diced up boneless chicken thigh / breast Thinly sliced carrots Onion (white) - cut into bite size chunks Celery cut into 1/2 inch pieces (I also use the leaves) Minced garlic (2 cloves and of course use more / less depending on how garlicky you like stuff) Green bell pepper, cut into bite size chunks Sauté the veg in some neutral oil (like canola). Toss in the chicken. Add some soy sauce and black pepper. If you want heat, throw in a little diced red chili OR shake in some crushed red pepper. Make a corn starch slurry…a little warm water mixed with a spoonful (or two) of cornstarch. It’ll help thicken the juices in the pot / pan. When everything is nearly done, toss in some crushed cashews. I usually get the whole cashews with pieces and put them in a zip bag…then lightly tap with the full end of a knife. Can leave some whole if like. Lastly, taste it and adjust seasoning as needed.
Had the pleasure of visiting Clovelly with my best friend many years ago. That walk is a real workout. I believe the sleds outside the cottages were meant to be pulled by donkeys. Beautiful village. You two are adorable and I enjoy watching from Ontario, Canada.
Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup. Chicken Breast, water, Sazon seasoning, chicken bullion, a little bit of italian seasoning, add potatoes, pasta, and whatever veggies you like. If you're vegan, substitute for tofu or other alteranatives. But definitely makes a great, hearty meal for cold winter days (or when you're under the weather). Freeze or refrigerate leftovers.
When you live in a part of a country that doesn’t see a whole lot of rain and too much drought you absolutely learn to love the rainy days and appreciate them so much. I adore wet cool days
I’ve seen the sledges being used by the locals in Clovelly on TV. Everything is brought in and out by sledge - even the rubbish. So eco friendly 😊🥰🏴
Hi beans, the one stop for curry and a beer in toilet was hilarious. 🤣 A huge pan of stew is good, lasts a few days and tastes better the next day. Winter time I'm OK if it's cold, frosty or snow just not crazy about the rain. Yet summertime it's nice when it rains now and then. 🤣 and cools down. In uk we talk a lot about the weather. ❤
Maybe a "two pot meal" (one if the rice is already cooked): beans, rice, and salsa....open your favorite can of beans (I do either black beans or kidney for this), rinse, drain...put in. pot with your favorite jar of salsa, heat...serve over rice...add guacamole or avocado, sour cream or plain yogurt on top....that was our go to meal when we first got married, carpooled home together, and wanted to eat "right then" when we got home...quick, easy, delicious and nutritious....you can also add precooked chicken to it if you want...add on top whatever you like...
First time watching your videos sharing van life…I almost bought a narrowboat until an awful survey scuppered that…now looking at vans instead as another option…very funny and entertaining, thanks 😌🙏
Oh yes, and a one pot meal…lentil stew is one of my favorites…add onion, garlic, herbs and seasoning, potatoes, carrots, or any veg you really like and to make it really thick and rich add bovril or marmite with a splash of vinegar at the end; can also have with rice (but then is 2 pots 😕) hope that inspires…😉
Winters in Canada, I would give them up in a heartbeat. It hasn’t stopped snow since Thursday and on Friday it will be -28! Needless to say I’d move back to England even with the rain.
You should walk to Baggy point in that part of the coast. I absolutely love camping in the rain, researching or reading fiction with the rain pattering on canvas, steel or fibreglass. It’s so relaxing, the same walking with a good umbrella. I don’t like hot sticky days too hot to do anything. Fajitas can be great to make in one pot, take jars of soured cream guacamole and salsa either home made or shop bought. Place plates instead of pan lids and heat the wraps between them, one up one down. Just need peppers, onions and whatever else you want to make vegetable or meat derived versions. Take pre mixed spices.

Alex you need cornflour to thicken the stroganoff 😂
Ok cancel that the rice did it 😂

Well "Gooday" BEANS!
Love the UK .... my Ancestral Home !

Cheers guys 👍 I've been to Exmoor. Stunning place! And as a fellow Brit, I too can confirm what you said about how we like to moan. WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS BLOODY WIFI 😂
Nine months of hearing endless laughing and little new bean should be a very happy bean.
Fave one pot meal.. xx cook up a spag bog mix - however you normally do it
Once cooked, pop into a large place (or whatever plate you will end up eating from)
Grab yourself some fajita breads and a bag of grated mozzarella,
Then start layering like a lasagne - spag big mix - cheese - fajita - repeat. Lid on and leave on low for a bit to let everything mix up
Then slice like a cake and eat :)
Yum yum :)
Fellow camping Brit - I can cope with any weather apart from the in between stuff !!!!
Only dishes to clean is the silverware and you already have hot water from the pit the eggs were cooked in 👍🏼
Problem with this is the plastic leeches chemicals and int good for you!!!
Alex. That dinner even looked lovely.... Well done you....
That beef stroganoff looked easy & delicious! Bravo 👏🏻💜❤️
I love ❤️ watching all of your adventures. You find the good in everything. Complaining is part of life but you do it with class!
Have a fabulous day,
From Northern Virginia, next to Washington DC
Emma giggles so much even when depressed.
Yes, at every single thing Alex says!😂
Sorry, but wait until labor starts....rrrrrr
Kara's peanut butter Ramen
1 Onion
1 green or red pepper
16oz mushrooms
2 cups of broth
three Tbl spoons peanut butter
ramen noodles
cayenne pepper
salt
start by sautéing the diced onion, then pepper, then sliced mushrooms, add the broth and season, add the peanut butter and ramen noodles.
If you have problems finding ramen noodles, buy 4-5 of the cheap instant ramen bowls and just take the noodles for your dish.
Let it all cook until the noodles are done and eat!
Love you guys.
PS Garlic, I forgot four-five garlic cloves finely chopped.
You forgot a crap ton of chopped cilantro too... she adds tons of that....
That’s the first thing that came to my mind too!
@@Kiwi91663 What's that called in Europe?
Not before a date or time with someone who's not just eaten garlic unless one wants to split up or sleep in a separate room.
Cilantro is “fresh Koriander” in Europe!
When Alex said his breakfast sandwich was so beige I about died laughing. I often think that about our favorite winter comfort foods like chicken pot pie and sausage gravy and biscuits.
I'd love a breakfast sandwich like that
Sausage gravy and biscuits is great any day!
I can relate being from New England same crap weather in winter 😂
Clovelly wasn't always chargeable. I went in the 90's and we never paid. They had donkeys walking up and down the cobblestone hills.
Agree , agree, agree
I love that you don't hide the bad stuff from us. Being transparent is always the way to go.
Also, I've never seen click bait with you two.
Oooh - I'm not sure that some of Alex's historic choices of photos of Emma almost disrobed wouldn't qualify ?! 😜
The Bay of Fundy by Nova Scotia has some pretty high tides. Probably the number 1 you mentioned in Canada.
Big like 👍. Very entertaining video 📹 to watch.
Now with
vitamin D 10,000 IU I'm happy every day no matter what the weather.
I've been taking 10000 IU Vit D every day last two years. Thanks youtuber Dr. John Campbell

You need to get a pressure cooker and an airfryer. One pot wonders those are. We have both in our trailer and don't use anything else.
Just a fab , heart warming couple and you make me laugh out loud xxxx
Try some scouse lad a Liverpool staple look it up on the tube on how to make it but only use proper stewing steak an a little kidney you will love it one pot meal great show you guys keep it up 👍
Even those of us in the US are affected by gray, misty, miserable days. Sunshine just makes you feel better!
Brazilian cod (fish) Stew Recipe - 🌸1 1/2 to 2 lbs of fillets of firm white fish such as halibut, swordfish, or cod, rinsed in cold water, pin bones removed, cut into large portions- I have also used salmon
🌸3 cloves garlic, minced
🌸4 Tbsp lime or lemon juice (used to soak fish in before cooking but also a total must during serving!)
🌸Salt & Freshly ground black pepper
🌸Olive oil
🌸1 cup chopped spring onion with the greens, or 1 medium yellow onion, chopped or sliced
🌸1/2 yellow and 1/2 red bell pepper, seeded, de-stemmed, chopped (or sliced)
🌸2 cups chopped (or sliced) tomatoes
🌸1 Tbsp paprika (Hungarian sweet)
🌸Pinch red pepper flakes
🌸1 large bunch of cilantro, chopped with some set aside for garnish
🌸1 14-ounce can full fat coconut milk directions:
In a large covered pan (such as a Dutch oven), coat the bottom with about 2 Tbsp of olive oil and heat on medium heat.
Serve with rice or with crusty bread, or since I am low carb I add in riced cauliflower, which can be added with the onions and peppers-
this is a very tasty dish that is super nutrient dense & I never tire of the taste😋
You two are so much fun! And it's so nice to hear British English. I am Belgian, but my late dad was from Oxford, married my Belgian mom and lived here in Belgium for most of his life. I was thus raised bilingually (Dutch/English), so proper (British) English will always be my favourite 😊
Mind you, I have also lived 7 years at the Arctic Circle in Finland (Rovaniemi) and 7 years in Odessa, Ukraine. The stupid war forced me to come back to my home country Belgium. Not regretting it though, I have certainly found a second love for Belgium again ❤
As for one pot recipes, one thing I always loved was a mix of all kinds of stuff:
Boil chopped up chicken breasts with some bouillon cubes, and add some pasta (I love the spirellis).
For best cooking ever, 2 words: cast iron! One or two skillets is all you need! With well fitting lid. Keep it up, you’re so refreshing!
That dinner looks delicious. Is it a stroganoff?
Recipe please! That meal looked delish. Getting recipes from your subscribers is an excellent idea. It would be a great segment to your travel series. I suggest you watch the TH-camr channel MAV that is also an outdoor/camping series. He also cooks meals on his channel inside his camper van and tries recipes his fans send in. I recommend an Instant Pot if you have the room. Love your channel BTW.

Speaking of weather and mood: I remember a group of young Israelis visiting us in Germany some decades ago. After 10 days of tourism in lots of interesting places we asked them what they had enjoyed most. Their answer: "The walk in the rain..."
Because it never, ever rains during the Israeli summer…grass is always greener, right ?!
@@user-jp4sc7iy6p Exactly.
my current favorite (very simple, but very delicious & affordable) one pot meal:
sauté chopped onion + chopped poblano pepper in a little coconut oil.
Well done Alec for the
wonderful meal you made. Harriet and I never miss a video. Sending much love 🙏❤🙏 Harriet, Jim and Yuki. Richmond, Va.
Your visit to Clovely took me back over 50 years when I visited with my family. Still looks the same. Memories. ❤
Living in Cornwall, I think “you’ve got loads of space” is the thing I say most when driving.
You two are so likable and sweet. Great sense of humor!
Your mushroom stroganoff looked delicious. A dish that I find fairly quick and easy to prepare and cook is bacon tagliatelle. It needs two pans though to cook the pasta separately to the rest but it only takes about 15 minutes to cook and ten minutes to prepare the ingredients
4 slices of bacon sliced and diced , frozen bacon is easier to cut as it’s not slimy.
British people in the winter 'it's too cold', British people in the summer 'it's too hot' 😎
I'd reach its 'so hot' but never 'too' hot in UK for me :)
Exact same in most of Canada...( not BC). I barely get a chance to open a window as it's either too hot or too cold.
I was offered a job in Key West, I turned it down because I’d miss the uk seasons.

That's lovely 😁 I'll try to remember that when looking at our gloomy weather ^^

Omg! Third comment now (sorry). Easiest one pot meal. Tuna (canned), sautéed onion, mushroom soup(canned, low sodium), mandarin oranges. Sauté onion, add tuna, soup and lightly simmer. Lastly, add oranges. Serve with rice.
I love how much you too laugh with each other, I'm on my own now with 3 kids but watching you guys and some of my other favourite you tube couples really does make me smile!
I visited Clovelly 40 yrs ago in my teens and it hasnt changed much. one of the most beautiful unspoilt jems in the UK in my humble opinion.
I have a favorite 1-pot meal that is super easy: Turkey Chili
I'm in the US, so some of the ingredients are in ounces. I don't know how they're measured elsewhere.
1 lb ground turkey
1/2 small onion, chopped
1 28- or 30-oz can of plain crushed tomatoes
2 16-oz cans red kidney beans, rinsed
1/2 small green or red bell pepper, chopped
Salt & Pepper to taste
oregano - a good sprinkling
chili powder - ditto
cumin - about 1/2 teaspoon or so (best to use whole cumin seeds and crush them yourself to release the flavor - you can do that with the back of a spoon on the cumin in a small bowl)
Brown the turkey, add the onions and green pepper and cook until they are soft.
What, no garlic at all😲?
My wife and I live in Minnesota and it is always very cold and very very cloudy in the winter. England does not look too bad. We Enjoy your channel.
Mexican Rice
1 pound ground beef
1 packet taco seasoning
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can diced tomatoes and green chiles
2 cups cooked rice
Shredded cheese (as much as you like
Brown meat add seasoning. Mix in soup, tomatoes, rice then cheese at the end.
Easy one pot meal. Has been our go to for over 20 years.
Sounds good! I'll try it at home.
I don’t think Emma eats animals. Maybe make a veggie version. I buy some wonderful vegan chorizo.
I make a similar dish using a bag of frozen corn instead of the mushroom soup. Then top with sliced avocado, or guacamole, or sour cream, or some combo of said toppings.
Another option is to use a 16oz can of black beans in place of the meat.
With all the amazing places you visited it is alway the beauty of home that makes us treasure even more.
Absolutely amazing video to just watch and get emerged into a whole new experience. As someone who was once very adventurous and was not afraid to create, coming across something like this not only brings old memories, but creates a certain chill in my body to get out there and make videos again. Thank you so much for such inspiration.

Peanut butter chicken!
1 onion
2 cloves of garlic
Chicken thighs
Bouquet garni
Bay leaves
Tomato paste
Chopped tomatoes
Peanut butter
Sauté onion and garlic then add chicken thighs until lightly browned.
Add tomato purée, bouquet garni, bay leaves and chopped tomatoes then cook on low/medium heat. When cooked through slightly shred the chicken thighs and add 1 tablespoon of peanut butter then just add the rice ! Total comfort food in one pot 😋
Love your videos and here’s to many more 😊
What a beautiful countryside. Well Mom and Dad, Baby Bean is coming soon. Can’t wait.
Another awesome video. You three are so much fun! Here ya go.... A few one pot/skillet meals.
Sweet Potato Hash:
In a large skillet, saute some diced or chopped sweet potato in olive oil until nearly but not quite fork tender. Smashing!
Ribollita (Peasant Stew):
Chop a couple carrot, an onion and a couple stalks of celery and toss in a pan with some olive oil to saute until translucent. Toss in a can of crushed tomatoes, a can of drained cannellini beans, some chicken broth or stock, a small wedge of parmesan, pepper, dried basil and oregano. Add some torn kale and crusty bread. Delish and so comforting!
Posh Beans on Toast:
To a pan add olive oil and butter, then add some broad beans or lima beans, peas, pearl onions, a little chopped garlic, a squeeze of lemon, some chopped parsley and green onion for flavor and color. Spoon onto a slice of crusty bread and crumble some feta over the beans.
For Alex: Slap another piece of crusty bread on top and you've got a post beans on toast sandwich! lol
Enjoy and as always, safe travels Beans!
My best,
LIsa G.
Our fave one pot meal is sausage casserole really warming too in crappie British weather 😂
Seasonal Depression is real. That dish you you made, Alex looked so yummy. Have a great week. Mary 💕 Fred
I watch lots of couples on TH-cam. You two are the only one I actually want to hang out with.
Great idea adding the rice right into the pot. Makes perfect sense.
Love your videos. Stay safe and warm.
But it’s been yukky cold 🥶 way to much now. 🥲
I can a absolutely relate. I lived in Oregon for 10 years and the weather used to drive me crazy
Yup, I'm in Oregon too. I can't wait until spring.
I lasted three years in Oregon and had to go back to California! The first year was great but then the constant rain got to me. Summer was great though.
Definitely get SAD feeling on grimville dull days but the blue skys are totally motivational❤
Beef stew is always a good one pot meal.
Mac n Cheese (but you can add veg to it)
If you have a sauté pan you could always do a stir fry. You could probably do this in a pot. I’ve just never tried that method.
I like making cashew chicken:
diced up boneless chicken thigh / breast
Thinly sliced carrots
Onion (white) - cut into bite size chunks
Celery cut into 1/2 inch pieces (I also use the leaves)
Minced garlic (2 cloves and of course use more / less depending on how garlicky you like stuff)
Green bell pepper, cut into bite size chunks
Sauté the veg in some neutral oil (like canola).
I love the name of one of those food stores in the Tech park, “I won’t diet”.
Canadian here and SAD is definately a thing.
Love the laughter on your channel. You are both so much fun 🙂
Quick cold dish - Baked beans and sliced tinned peaches mixed together. Delicious.
When you live in a part of a country that doesn’t see a whole lot of rain and too much drought you absolutely learn to love the rainy days and appreciate them so much. I adore wet cool days
This channel feeds my soul.
I’ve seen the sledges being used by the locals in Clovelly on TV. Everything is brought in and out by sledge - even the rubbish. So eco friendly 😊🥰🏴
Hi beans, the one stop for curry and a beer in toilet was hilarious. 🤣
A huge pan of stew is good, lasts a few days and tastes better the next day. Winter time I'm OK if it's cold, frosty or snow just not crazy about the rain. Yet summertime it's nice when it rains now and then. 🤣 and cools down. In uk we talk a lot about the weather. ❤
We have the time change so in winter, it’s dark by 5 pm. That really effects my mood. Your videos are great! Alex’s bedroom comment made me lol.
It is so good you can select the life travel in the road . I am so admire your life style.
Winters in Canada, I would give them up in a heartbeat. It hasn’t stopped snow since Thursday and on Friday it will be -28! Needless to say I’d move back to England even with the rain.
We love CLOVELLY!❤️ It's most beautiful in the summertime.
Alex looks so happy with a mouth full of sausages ❤. Love the channel.
