Vikings Valhalla is so bad. Not even close to being historically accurate. Dumbest ending to an epic show!? But even that wasn’t as bad as season 3 or Valhalla
Both the Vikings shows changed history a lot. Yeah the way ivar died wasn’t good considering he died in Ireland, ubba died in England and never went to Vinland, but hvitserk did become the king of York but I didn’t like his addict arc. Valhalla did alot wrong too, and was arguably worse as the sons of Ragnar are based on legend with their tales being almost mythical, so the writers had a lot to play around with, but the Jomsvikings they completely ruined it so many historical in accuracies, women wenrnt even allowed in their castle and they were a Viking mercenary order. Edmund Ironside who in real life was an epic warrior king, one of the greatest according to the Anglo Saxon chronicle, you don’t get the nickname Ironside unless your one of the greatest warriors ever seen. @ Harald Hardrada, once a symbol of Viking ambition and glory, betrayed the very spirit of his people by embracing Christianity-a tool of cultural erasure wielded by the very powers the Norse once stood against. This wasn’t just a personal choice; it marked a capitulation to a system designed to subjugate the old ways of honor, strength, and independence. The Vikings were masters of the seas, fierce warriors who answered only to their gods and their own unyielding will. Harald, a man who fought across continents, who carved his legend in the Byzantine Varangian Guard and aspired to rule England, should have embodied this indomitable spirit. But instead, he bent the knee to a foreign faith, forsaking the gods that had empowered his ancestors to forge their destiny. By converting to Christianity, Harald became a pawn of the very forces that sought to dismantle the Norse way of life. Christianity wasn’t just a religion; it was a cultural and political weapon that reshaped the north into a subdued, homogenized Europe. By aligning with it, Harald helped pave the way for the erosion of the Norse identity, allowing the old gods and traditions to be swept away in the tide of “civilization.” Worse still, his ambitions culminated in the catastrophic Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066, where his failure shattered the last hopes of reclaiming England for the Norse. His death marked the end of the Viking Age, not as a hero or liberator but as a man who had already compromised the soul of his people. Harald could have been the embodiment of resistance, a reminder that the Norse would never yield to foreign domination. Instead, his legacy is tainted by his willingness to betray his heritage, trading the fire of the old gods for the cold chains of the cross. His story serves as a bitter reminder of what happens when warriors abandon their roots and bow to the forces they were meant to defy.
@ wow that was actually captivating to read. I have to disagree with you though. Harald wasnt the first king of Norway who was Christian. Harald Fairhair’s own son Haakin the Good became a Christian as he was raised in the court of aethlstan. He was the first Christian king of Norway, then Harald Bluetooth the overlord of Norway was Christian, then Olaf trugvasson the next king of Norway was also Christian as was Cnut the great the next king of Norway. Then there is saint Olaf the most infamous king of Norway another Christian then Magnus the good another Christian who destroyed the pagan stronghold of jomsborg. There were so many Christian kings before hardrada and Norway had been introduced to the religion 100 years before his birth. So say he betrayed his forefathers is a bit of a stretch as all the kings before him were Christian
No he was not. Far from it. Sven Forkbeard and his son Cnut The Great was far better. Cnut was king of England, Norway and Denmark. Harald Hardrada aint shit my dude
@@DANEonDOPE you don’t think I know that? I did a one hour video on Canute. Lol it’s perspective if you think that great. He said: ‘Cows! So many, that when they go down to drink, they’ll stand all round the lake, side by side.’
‘That would be a very big farm,’ said the king.
Then the king said to Harald: ‘And what do you want most of all?’
‘Soldiers!’ said Harald. ‘So many that they will eat all Halfdan’s cows at one meal!’
The king laughed and said: ‘You are bringing up a king here, mother!’ .
So cornfield in this isn't like an American cornfield, it's a wheat field, the name corn was for like an oats or wheat
Think you’re thinking of sweetcorn… but when I was a child we would call cereal fields cornfields

His last name is Not pronounced "hardrade". Dobble aa in Nordic language sounds more like "or" - so the more correct pronunciation is more like: "Hordrorthe".
The name means "hard rule".
the thumbnail looks like Tristan Tate lol
This dude always bitching at me for having a weak navy.
He wasn't the greatest king. Not even close.
That honour should imo go to Canute.
But he _was_ one hell of a viking warrior!
Debatable, greatest for me in terms of battle prowess and his legend throughout history. Canute was no doubt the most powerful, just depends on your interpretation of great, Canute was richer, had 10x the men and wealth, but harald is more celebrated in the sagas so really depends on your definition
@@historyprofiles No you are flat out wrong. Cnut The Great was King of England, Denmark and Norway. Money did not have anything to do with it. It was his father Sven and his father before him Harald who laid the foundations. Do better research dude.
@@DANEonDOPE honestly it’s subjective. Harald fought in way more battles and died with a sword in his hand the viking way arguably making him the greatest, he is also more remembered in history. Sweyn was one of the greatest yes, having his own father killed taking Denmark then ruling Norway and finally taking England. I have videos on all of them. Saying do better research when I have videos on all these people which last hours is laughable.

Man .. Vikings Valhalla isn't accurate at all according to this. I know it's hollywood .. but they can at least try to make it more accurate lol
@@richardeckard3825 season 1 was okay in terms of budget, acting and visuals, they ruined Edmund Ironsides character and harald wasn’t even born when the st brices day massacre took place, and he wasn’t friends with Cnut, cnut literally wanted him dead which is why he had to go to exile, yeah they messed up a lot of stuff, shame because it had a lot of potential

I thought Cnut the Great was the greatest Viking king.
@@personnelente most powerful yes, I think harald was the greatest though
In USA, inlaws
The greatest Viking king was Cnut. Prove me wrong
its all a matter of opinion, the greatest could be the most powerful, which was canute, or the man who is celebrated more in the sagas and had more songs written about him than anyone which was harald, as he fought in many more battles and died a viking warrior death sword in hand. I hope you enjoeyd the video though!
@@historyprofiles the greatest means the one who achieved the greatest.. Which is Cnut. I didn't say the most popular, did I? Nor did you for that matter.
Vikings Valhalla is so bad. Not even close to being historically accurate. Almost as bad as Ivar dying in vitserks arms crying as battle surrounds them people fighting for their lives Alfred says “ stop fighting “ and everyone as far as the eye can see all stop immediately!?
Those were my main 2 problems with Vikings Valhalla, I could think of more but don’t want to be writing forever
@@historyprofiles I love your work and appreciate the feedback!

You mean the most traitorous Viking.
@@Man_of_dirt how so ?
By aligning with it, Harald helped pave the way for the erosion of the Norse identity, allowing the old gods and traditions to be swept away in the tide of “civilization.”
Worse still, his ambitions culminated in the catastrophic Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066, where his failure shattered the last hopes of reclaiming England for the Norse.
God the actor who plays him in valhalla is so fucking hot.

@@DANEonDOPE you don’t think I know that? I did a one hour video on Canute. Lol it’s perspective if you think that great.
