I've been cooped up all winter in Chicago. After watching this video and all of Scott's vlogs I officially have the itch to go up to Wisconsin and get on the water!!!!! Thanks again Ronald
Hey Roland, we are coming down to Florida in June for a wedding and I hope to at least spend a day or two at your Marina. I think I will do the guide service and hopefully stay at the resort. Just got to make the reservations… Grew up watching you on TV, and I am a huge fan of yours and your son Scott… Can’t wait to finally fish Okeechobee… Keep the videos coming.
Mr. Roland Martin 04/09/2019 I think four things made fishing easier if you can afford them GPS Mapping, GPS trolling motors, Side and down scan and shallow water anchor systems. Think what it would have been like if you had these things to use when you were competing in Bass Master Tournaments. Remember long ago when you fished with Shimano Magnumlite GT Fighting Rods and Shimano casting reel models with names like Bantam SG 10, Magnumlite 1550, Bantam Magnumlight 250 and 350 Bantam reels and Magnumlite Speedmaster 2200 WSG. I do cause I still use them because they still work just fine. I have never found one bearing in any of these reels yet they still cast fine. Remember Blue Fox spinnerbaits I still got a few of them Roland Martin specials in good shape too. Remember when you fished Bass tournaments with ten-pounds of tackle and five rods. I have a 1986 official Plano tackle box used at the Bass Master Classic. Can you tell I might be a big fan of yours? Bass boats got smarter and Bass Anglers got dumber seems to me. What hell would I know, I only been fishing for 50 years. Roland you forgot more about fishing than most of these up-to-the-minute genus bass experts will ever know. I am reasonably acceptable at catching fish and never needed a boat that cost more than house to enjoy fishing. Roland check out the (enjoy fishing channel) from Japan. This boy can cast like you never seen anyone cast before. I think you will enjoy the videos.
I liked the concept of this video however, like so many experts Jeff went through the steps so fast that you could not keep up with him. He assumed that we knew a lot more about setting up the depth finder than we might actually know. Would like to see him do an electronics 101 video and maybe use a less expensive version since many of us cannot afford the top of the line touch screen model.
Some of The unsung, behind the scenes dudes and gals. Good marine electronics folks are hard to find. I know Jeff’s pain .. Installing/servicing .. and owner instruction 😜🤘 It’s awesome to see the channel growing Mr.Martin. 🙌🏼 (*edit*: From a guy who does Furuno, Raymarine, Simrad, Lowrance, Garmin, crap this is getting long 😝)
Love Ya Man! But most of us retirees can't afford a unit like that. The common man has a much simpler depth finder like you have on the tricked out boat. Got some good info though, thanks for all you do!
I am just saying the electronics have got so spot on that it's nothing like fishing of the old days.Progress? I am not so sure of that. I do thank you for reading and replying to my comment!!
Roland Martin is a class act! Live these instructional and the fishing videos in general. Keep up the great contribution to the fishing community as you have for so many years! Good stuff......"SON"!
You just showed me something I never knee. Scott keeps saying "I see bass over here or there", but he never shows us how he can tell. You just did that and it is not hard at all, you just gotta know what you're looking at. Thanks for that, now I am going to buy a Jon Boat and rig it up with one of those quad screen fish finders.
That’s because he has no clue! Lol no one does. You just have to “best guess” bass usually stack up Parallel with the bottom. Crappie, sand bass tend to stack vertically. Also you can look at structure, and how they are relating to it. These old guys are last two guys you should get advice from electronics from. Lol
@@RolandMartinOutdoors Appreciate the response. Not sure if my Lowrance Elite Ti2 has these settings, but I'll check it out and change them if they do. You da man and thanks.
Roland just to let you know our hot spot is now open. You need to reserve a spot on line to get access to it. See you there. We’re going this Friday 👍🎣
I have a Hook 9 Lowrance. No sidescan. Only downscan. mapping. and 2d sonar! Love to find new trees and stumps and rocks with mine! #RippinLipsInc. on You Tube!
GOOD FOR THE FISHERMAN BAD FOR THE FISH. You take a tenement with 40 pros all with these electronics and your lake is cleaned out in short order if they can operate these to there capacities. You wonder why you go fishing and there is nothing biting.? Pretty SAD!
True , but if everyone practices catch and release, its sustainable.its a renewable resource and won't degrade to much as long as all the bass over 2 1/2 pounds are released.
Well I know if i get hit in the jaw i am a little slower to fall for the same trick. How long does it take to to catch the same fish that just got a hole riped in his lip.

You still have to find quality fish and know how to catch them. It definitely helps and speeds up culling dead water.

Just learning my electronics and noticed Jim has the frequency set at 455mhz instead of 800mhz. Why and what is the difference. Thanks.
With the Lowrance 197 is for shallow water and 50 for deep
