    Thank you so much for doing and sharing this process. It has been extremely useful to me. That you are a year into the ANTINet gives me great hope that I can disentangle my mental, analog and digital information I have been amassing for the past several years. Your system is going to be integral to this process. I can't wait for your book in December! Is such a critical analysis, translation & evolution of the original method.

    Thank you so much for sharing this session! I was intimidated to start my own Zettelkasten, so I watch this a couple times, then I watched it and I went along and created my first main cards! It was so so so much easier having a step by step, detailed guide like this! Thanks to both of you!

    I've been using a digital zettelkasten for about 6 months now. I've already written 2 books using, (i guess you could call it) the traditional way of starting with an idea, then searching for information about that topic and building as you go. I'm using my zettlekasten for my 3rd book on trading systems. I like how the inter-linking system works. Thats where the magic is in this system imo. That and the relationship between the links. Its like your own personal search engine of ideas. Start with a topic or keyword and see what it gives you. It takes some serious work however to get there. I was putting in around 2 hours a day for about 6 months. I do notice however that it can go off on tangents just like my mind does lol. It can give some good ideas that you didn't anticipate. The system i was using before with a traditional folder system and then just using search terms to peruse the data you've amassed works well. I;m weighing the pros and cons of both systems to see which ill keep going forward.I have ALOT of information. Its a small library. Over 1500 books, courses, random notes etc. I've read scotts book but im still not swayed by the analog way. It can defiantly work. I think the trick to going digital is just keeping it as simple as possible. All the updates, plugins just creates like he says more busywork. The biggest 2 reasons im still digital is that 1)its far faster and easier to create notes and link them than writing them out by hand. 2) and you can just back up all your work on the cloud. what are you going to do if there is a fire or flood and all that work gets destroyed? YIKES!

      when you are consuming content of any kind and you start getting ideas. Then your mind starts going off on tangents. This i think may be the best way to track all those tangents of thought and see where they lead to. sometimes nowhere but sometimes its extrmely useful.

    As an Enneagram 4, you may want to have a 6000 for Miscellaneous. I wonder if the initial structure of academic discipline may already feel too confining for you. With a Misc. category you would have a spot to just put something somewhere rather than getting stuck with where to put it or feeling overly confined.

    Great walk through. I found this episode particularly helpful. Quick question RE the index: What is the rule for indexing a keyword... It doesn't seem like it should be all of the main notes, so is it just the branches and we navigate from there? Thanks again!

    • @scottscheper
      @scottscheper  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it's important and you want to be able to find it easily, create an index keyterm for it. Arbitrary. You determine 👊🗃✍🏼

    Sounds like there’s many small projects: sermons, youtube videos, lessons/units for AP history, and some more general areas/projects: theory of communication (and/or theory of art), probably theology and philosophy.

      I'm keeping my eye out for institutions like libraries and universities getting rid of 4x6 card filing systems. Ad I can afford the $140/2-drawer system, I found that Stearite plastic lidded shoe boxes and IKEA SAMLA 7"x11" plastic boxes fit 4x6 cards well. Improvise something to keep cards from falling down.

    Scott I have a question about exrefs: when you do eventually develop them and make a main note, do you add the new card ID to the exref card so you don't forget that you deveolped it?

    • @scottscheper
      @scottscheper  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question. Normally I do not, but I don't see how that could hurt. It's a tradeoff of time vs. value.

    I have a question for you, Scott - I'm still on the fence over whether to use an Analog vs Digital Zettelkasten. I do, however, find your videos on the Zettelkasten to be the best I have found on TH-cam.
    The crux of what appeals to me about a Digital Zettelkasten is its portability. My work can take me away from home for extended periods at a time and I would want constant access to my Zettelkasten. What benefit does an Analog system have over, say, just using a naming convention of ones notes that mimics the Zettelkasten's addressing system? e.g '1110-1a Why the Antinet is better than Obsidian-based Zettelkastens'
