brings back so many memories. This game was the best dynasty warriors in the series. The level design is great, the morale system, bodgyguards and sountrack all make this game of the greatest. Even the AI puts up a fight.
This is the best and most intense Dynasty Warriors, while the music makes the gameplay seem crazy in the later titles, this one makes the music seem calming in comparison to the fighting, I love the *"sclosh sclosh sclosh"* sound Xiahou Dun's sword makes
Oh my god the memories. I was like maaaaybe 4 or 5 playing this with my brother and I still remember desperately trying to keep Lu Bu from killing Yuan Shu
@@konigludwigxiv6925 Ya, it was super hard the first time you found him. With a second play-through, with extra stats, it's easier. But I remember when I killed him the first time without additional stats, to see how hard it would be. Basically it consisted of getting hit once, and finding a hp bun. :P
Same. Back then with a very good friend right after school, PS activated, DW sound injected and time to fail many times against Lu Bu. Still very good childhood memories.
People underrate how grounded this game is. The battles were actually tough, the units could hurt you, you needed your army to back you up, you had to plan how to beat certain strong points and strong generals sometimes having to bow them from a distance, go away to get health and come back a few times to break them. The battles actually progressed like battles too. You could also approach maps multiple ways, like Hu Lao gate - rushing off to help Yuan Shu from Lu Bu , or helping the other factions or just sticking with your factions main goal, getting a horse to zip around the map to different points, protecting Yuan Shao at the end or just pushing the Hu Lao Gate. Getting 1,000 kills was a major major achievement that took a lot of planning and effort, as well as that feeling of strength progression as you find more HP/Musou ups, +3/+4 atk/def items, and the specific weapon unlocks. Your bodyguards were sometimes essential to taking out certain bosses and sometimes the battle was lost and you had to just bee line it for the end boss and try to take them out while surrounded, a great feeling when you won that clutch moment. Even charging a line of archers/crossbows would be a deadly move, ducking and weaving with a horse to avoid getting knocked off and knocked down for major damage.
I remember thinking to myself how funny it was that this level was right after the Yellow Turban Rebellion. One level ago I was slaughtering people who weren't paying their taxes to the Empire, now I'm slaughtering Imperial troops controlled by a corrupt Chancellor. Boy was that a shell-shock.
3 is where it embraced that killing mass droves of people. It's got the best of the soundtracks, best art. HOWEVER. In my opinion, 2 had the best use of color, the best feel to the combat and I'd argue 2nd runner up for OST. 2 you fought multiple enemies, but nothing on the level of 3 or later entries. It felt more like Streets of Rage or other beat em ups. I feel if they kept the series tighter like that, you'd have these big war games with gameplay like God of War or Ninja Gaiden. For some reason they stuck with the arcade path, and I haven't played since 6.
I play this game until now one of my favorites.. I defeat lu bu with xiahou dun on hard with third wepon only def 28 and items: att 20 def 39 m charge 18 the way of mosou red hare.. but first I open hu Lao gate then direct I go to defeat lu bu .. after that I wait until the arrival of gou si and the other in 75:00 then enjooooy the rest of stage 😎👍
Yeah what sucks is there was so much "corruption" that group leaders couldn't stand it anymore and tried to expose the government at that time for what they were. Think about it. The eunuchs was taking advantage of the emperor and even though he gave the final say-so they still had him by the balls.
I gotta say, 1st thanks for the upload, 2nd, the Chinese history is seriously messed up but again, every culture is in some way. Cao Cao is the most admired and I admire him the most even over Liu Bei, but he was the most ruthless. I just watched the movie Red Cliff that my GF told me to watch and I recognized every character. I would never have if it wasn't for this game making me interested in Chinese history because they do not teach this in US schools.
I've found glitches within the game that are similar to cao ren running on top of the mountain only the troops never returned into battle , you will find them on my channel
I've seen a glitch on the battle of Yi ling near that bridge that connects the main land with the Wu main camp that Sun Quan is in. Their were about 20 or so troops in the water under the bridge fighting. At first I thought they were reflections of soldiers fighting on the bridge, but after staring at the situation for about 3 minutes I realized they were actually in the water. When the soldiers finally killed each other their bodies remained in the water and did not disappear. I've also ran through a gate captains domain. It was on the nanman campaign. Towards the bottom middle of the map there is a tiny strip of land that is connected by 2 gate captains. After fucking around for about an hour an enemy officer on an elephant smushed me through the no mans barrier. There were also a shit ton of soldiers around me (maybe around 60 troops). I think the game couldn't handle it and when the elepant hit me the game was trying to replace some of the troops. I've never been able to recreate this glitch. I'm sure that tops whatever glitches you've encountered. P.S. The glitches on hu lao gate are fairly common and can be recreated by clearing out the enemy generals quickly or simply running away and then coming back to the massed amount of soldiers. The game does this because the game engine can not handle more then 25 characters on the screen, so it simply tries to respawn the soldiers. If your near a mountain this will happen. I've noticed that cao caos forces display this glitch the most. All you gotta do is kill niou fu and fan chou immediately. After this move away to where hua xiong is at the bottom of fan shui gate. Look at your mini map you will see a stray blue dot travel off the map and into the forbidden zone and takes a shortcut to the top of fan shui. This glitch doesn't happen all the time but it happens often.

Trying to save Yuan Shu was fun! Sometimes he’d die before you even have a chance lmao

4:30 you just casually watch cao ren walk outside of the map
Cow Ren: The Last Airwalker
He had enough
the long the combo after defeating an officer the better loot you get🤗 miss playing this series... this was my jam and plus dw2 and dw4 were my favs
that leftover gate and group of red guys at the top middle of the map hurts me
Yuan Shu and his soldiers disliked this video
The voice acting is both serious cringe and nostalgia.
Perfectly said. *An ancient Chinese proverb*😉😉
But how about the dope heavy metal soundtrack? Nothing says ancient China like head banging
It's strange to notice that they have different voices when they shout than when they speak.
"I defeated an officer"
sounds like one of those guys that VA's for commercials
Yeah, Dun here kinda sounds like he's voiced by Doug Preis, who did lots of Cartoon Network promos throughout 2003.
"I swear to destroy the traitor Don Jow..."
-Yahoo Dune
Don Jiao
Cow Cow, Don Joe, Juan shaw,...
The music is so cool . The voice like they are smoking or sth
This game was before its time it makes me wanna cry 😢
One Shoe has deceived Soon Jean. :D
lmao 😂
+Chan Lach hahahhahahahahah perfect!
You must aid them Yahoo Dune!
When you play the game in easy mode with a good character and still almost got your ass handed to you by lu bu
this is why cao ren became playable in dw4. this one moment made him epic! XD haha!
haha watching Cao Ren walking over the mountain was funny as hell :P
Looking back at this awesome game it's cool to see how much dynasty warriors has evolved
Not now! Go back!!!
This looks better than DW9 OMG

At the opening cutscene....did Zhang Fei have an itch or something? Wtf?
LMFAO!!!! I was thinking about that as well when first dealing with him

Is it weird that I found Cao Cao(cow cow) more intimidating than Cao Cao when I was like 6 or 7 when I first played
