I chose to use only one layer of batting, but feel free to use two layers or a material like insul-brite if you are worried about it not being enough protection.

I been using cast iron practically all my life. I currently am using my grandmother cast iron. It last for ever if care for well. I simple love this idea. Anyone who cooks with cast iron will appreciate this. Thank you for sharing the goodness. A definite win win. Gives new purpose to discard scraps for a much need use with cast iron. :)

Much easier than the other method I was using, thank you. I am going to try some of my old denim scraps this time.

I have sewn my own cast iron covers with heat resistant batting. Works well and is not too thick. Yours are cuter than mine since I used old blue jeans and fabric I have had for way too many years.

Love this idea for scraps! Very useful and needed if you cook with cast iron. I have one that I've had a long time. Will definitely be making some of these for me as well as gifts. These would also be great to sell at craft fairs.
Thanks so much. Have a great day and God Bless. 💚💙💛💜😍

I have Lodge made handles and have still have had the heat go thru the handle holder so I decided to make my own but I bought the Insulbrite hoping this will work better. If you are cooking in the oven with your cast iron, the handles gets extremely hot, more so than on a burner. Will reply again if it works well

I'm at a loss for what to create and I don't have flannel or much quilter's batting. I have some ribbon, bias tape, cotton, denim, thread, pins, needles, and an iron. I'm unsure of what to make without repeating the same projects. As follows: messenger bags, totes, napkins, pillows, pillowcases, zipper pouches, and a couple coffee cozies. Ideas?

Besides being good for cast iron, it works on the stainless steel pots with stainless steel handles! make a set for the set!!
