About food, most Americans are impressed by the German stuff.
Also some American brands are better, Fanta for example.
But there are few examples, where I would prefer the American version. One is the American Milky Way bar, sold outside as Mars Bar (and to make the confusion perfect, outside USA is a Milky Way bar, what is similar to three musketeers). The American Milky Way is less sweet. Wouldn't I know and do a blind comparison, I would say "more sweet, must be Made in USA" and fail.
In most cases the no-name versions are the same, as the famous brands, the only things that differs are the Mars bar and Coke, other companies doesn't imitate the soda water taste.

We can also order them at the local takeout store.
Paprika Chips aren't really that spicy. It is Bellpepper, not a Chili type!

Trolli is German and US. They sold the US branch to an US company in the end of the 90's.
Yes, Ferrero is Italian BUT they produce also in Germany, they also do product development in Germany. and they don`t talk about it where it comes from.
So you don't know which product originates in Germany or Italy.
And the Ferrero stuff is produced all over Europe anyway.
Would you consider Ducati and Lamborghini Italian or German?
Because when you think that all stuff made and developed by Ferrero in Germany is Italian than must be Ducati and Lam,borghiniu German because they belong to Audi and using also car parts from Audi and the VW group.
I would argue that Ferrero is typical German as the company produces in and for Germany for over 75 years.
Opel was also considered a German car, they had their own R&D although they belonged to General Motos since the 1920's.
The legal ownership does not define what we would see as woinerhsip in a more common context.
When you buy a car with a credit you would say it is your car although the bank owns it untill you have paid for it.

Hans Riegel Bonn = HARIBO. Bonn is just south of Cologne along the A555.
Adenauer's Autobahn, also called Diplomatist Highway.
Adenauer was mayor of Cologne and lived in Bonn. At that time he began to build the road. During the Nazi era he had to leave office. Adenauer later became Chancellor of Germany. "Accidentally" Bonn became the West German capital. Then he upgraded the road to a Autobahn.

The ungarisch wouldn't be spicy as you know chips, Ryan, they would be paprika flavored, and all the ones I've had here are much milder/sweeter than any of the spicy ones in the USA. Those girls were just missing the fact that with Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, you get the best of both worlds---Peanut Butter and Chocolate---YUM...best candy in the world, with Dove Chocolate covered cherries and blueberries a close second (but I don't think they make those anymore :( )

German here and I actually hate Reeses and think they’re one of the worst things to exist.. they’re just waaaay to sweet for my taste (and I normally love sweet things) and somehow the peanut butter doesn’t really taste like peanut butter - Reeses are maybe the biggest disappointment I’ve ever had trying snacks from other lands🥲

    • @CabinFever52
      @CabinFever52 ปีที่แล้ว

@@kabbalutin you can really make them yourself (which I have often done--- in Ohio, we call them Buckeyes). You just take your favorite peanut butter, mix with confectioner's (powdered/Staubzucker) sugar to your level of sweetness, form into a ball, refrigerate and then dip them in the chocolate of your choice. If you want them to look like a buckeye, just leave a circle of the peanut butter ball showing.

We have two different cafeterias, one where you can get warm food and a more store-like cafeteria where you can buy things like sweets and food like a Leberkassemmel(a bread roll with a certain type of meat ) a Schnitzelsemmel ( a bread roll with schnitzel ) or also some things like burgers ( at least some days), whcih can also be bought during recess. You can use the chip for both, but you need to use the chip in the "normal" cafeteria and can also use money in the other one. Mostly, the younger kids eat in the American-like cafeteria and the older kids usually eat at the store-like cafeteria, because the parents think they are more responsible in what they buy.

"Paprika" is the traditional flavour for chips in Germany. It refers to dried and ground red bell pepper (originally) from Hungary (which was in many regions the only available bell pepper product before refrigerated transport and heated greenhaouses were a thing - except for some gardeners in the Southwest producing however mostly green bell peppers). This "Hungarian" spice is available in "sweet" and "hot" varieties (but "hot" is still not as hot as a chili).
Hanuta is short for "Haselnusstafel" - hazelnut waffles ('tafel' would be lit. 'bar' here like in chocolate bar, but it can also mean board, plate or table depending on context).
Haribo stands for Hans Riegel, Bonn - Hans Riegel founded it in 1922 in the city of Bonn. Trollis are sold in German supermarkets also, but mostly in the lower shelfs reserved for the cheap brands.
