The waterline used to be 219 feet away from that location. So a mere 2-3 years ago it was safe. However, coastal erosion as a result of climate change has made things worse

Reed, I lived in Pacific City at one time. Storms would cover the Ocean side of a 2 story house with sand. We would get the permits to remove the sand. I shoved the sand off decks, walkways, windows etc.. So big excavator could haul sand back to Ocean.
With the weather being as crazy as it has been for over a year now seems to be getting worse all these freak storms earthquakes volcanoes who would want to live near the ocean it's just going to keep getting worse and there is no way I'd live in a house built on stilts that's just crazy💯‼️ Ty Reed awesome picture 💯
Nobody lived in this house. It was a summer rental. The owner moved the house back as far as possible a few years ago. Everyone who is familiar with this beach knew that it was only a matter of time...
Same in Michigan, all along the coast of Lake Michigan, water levels have hovered around record highs for several years due to years of unusually heavy rain and snow in the great lakes basin. This has caused quite a lot of coastal erosion and loss of hundreds of coastal properties. Some were originally built as much as a quarter mile inland...but nature, and the lakes, are relentless.
Literally you can see this on google maps though not sure how old the footages are, perhaps at least a year old. You can see others built their house 20metres ( 50 feet) away from the cliffs, while this owner didnt even care... what even is distance? Doomed to fall since the start. How was he even given a permission to build that cottage?
A Lemony Snicket house. Aunt Josephine's rickety stilt house above the lake. Only difference is this house is built on sand while Aunt Jo's was built on rock. Still didn't save her house when Hurricane Herman blew in.
You should really learn to fly a true fpv miniquad, It makes the flying camera cow look like childs play. Compared to a hundred mile an hour 5 inch quad.

Poor people? They are likely millionaires who will get their house built back by the insurance company. Nothing "poor" about them. I'm not trying to put you down personally. It's just that I'm tired of all of these McMansions either falling in the ocean or being burned up in wild fires and everyone pours out the sympathy for them. They're building in places that should not be built on, and they have plenty of money to live on while their house gets rebuilt by the insurance companies. I'm no staunch environmentalist, I'm just a staunch supporter of common sense and find it hard to feel bad for or defend these people that have more than enough money to fend for themselves.
I get it’s the best view of the ocean, But come on who really wants a home that sits atop some stilts over hanging a cliff. 🤦🏻

Why? That’s ridiculous. The house falls…they make insurance claim…and everyone else’s insurance goes up.
The house was built in 1899, the waterline used to be hundreds of feet away and no pilings were visible.
