Great video I to was lucky enough to be invited to the factory tour in the late 90s was quite amazing,hospitality was fantastic also.
Great interesting video. I have been to both the Mannheim and the JD combine factory in Germany when I was working for a JD dealer, The factory is amazing , you have to see it to believe it.
You do, it’s so clean and tidy.
Very interesting. I was fortunate enough to do a similar tour back in 1978! Things have moved on since then. We were equally impressed by the cleanliness.
Interesting video Andrew, not really a JD fan but some amount of tractors sold from that one factory

Very interesting video Andrew. I also know JD have reduced the workforce in China, so can imagine from Germany they are exporting to more regions
nobody would have heard of john deere be cause his plows would not run clean made of american steel and some one told him to get some sheffield steel because it ran clean and shiny then his sales took off, and the people of sheffield would not know how to smelt iron until a bunch of lincolnshire lads the monks from kirkstead abbey turned up and built the first iron ore smelter in thundercliff where there was coal, iron ore water in close proximerty they needed the iron to make sheep shears to clip the woo[ from the tens of thousands of sheep they farmer in the witham valley wool was wealth 3 million fleeces of wool was exported through boston a year in 1300 hundereds
I did hear all that but didn’t record it. Very interesting.

Yes I will, after Xmas, haven’t got the figures together yet.
There’s only one combine that stands out above all the others and that’s a lighter shade of green, every other manufacturer is always playing catch-up

Zweibrücken is the town where the combines are manufactured… would have been nice to meet up, I live Near Mainz, not too far away

Think one of reasons that JD didn’t have a UK factory,was the government of the day wouldn’t give them a steel quota.

Wonder if they want to buy a relatively low hour 4755 to go with there 4955, also that 4955 must of been a later 1 as it’s a side pipe exhaust which didn’t come in until late 91-92 !.

Are all the engines , transmissions ,axles made there or are they manufactured elsewhere and just assembled there ?
A bit of both but can’t remember what’s made where!
Any news on the Coolmore video? Be careful putting that one out ,Coolmore wouldn't be popular with farmers in Tipperary they buy every acre of land that comes up sale ,every farmer knows to not even bother bidding on land ,a high profile case happening at the moment where a farmer agreed verbally to sell land to Maginer but decided to sell to someone else now Maginer has a court case pending to force a sale to him .Maginer gets what he wants .
I don’t know what happened but most of the videos I recorded in the afternoon did t have any sound and so they are pointless using without. I’m going back in Feb to talk at a conference so I’ll revisit then or in the summer.
