Great video. Can i aks you if I waant to sort authors alphabetically, starting with authors names that are not in english, how do you arrange it this way ?
In Mendeley Desktop, go to View > Citation Style > More Styles to see the list of available styles. Choose one to use as a starting point. You’ll modify this to include alphabetical sorting. Go to Mendeley's CSL Editor or directly use the CSL Editor Online. In the CSL Editor, find and download the style you want to modify (e.g., APA, Harvard). click on Edit to open it in the CSL Editor. In the CSL editor, look for the “bibliography” section where the sorting rules are defined. In the CSL editor, you'll see an option for sort under the bibliography section. Add or modify the sorting rule so that it sorts alphabetically by the author's name. You’ll want it to look something like this: After you’ve made your changes, click on Save As to save the new citation style with a different name (e.g., “APA Alphabetical”).Download the modified CSL file to your computer.Go back to Mendeley Desktop, and under View > Citation Style > More Styles, click on the Get More Styles tab. Select “Add Custom Style”, and upload the CSL file you just downloaded.
great video but i have a question please wheb i edit citation numbers layout . the delimeter doesn't became a superscribt like the numbers. how to do it ?
Q2:How I make changes { edit} in the style I made? Q3: after I make the style and save it the system saves it automatically on Mendeley's desktop, How can I find the file?
Very helpful. When we change the format of the Author's name in the in-text citation it changes the format of the bibliography as well. While in my case they are different (short format in intext citations and long in bibliography), any ideas?
Hi, could you help me with this issue? I modified Chicago (full note with ibid) style, however, my modifications are limited to the first time the item is cited. Therefore, if I cite item A the first footnote reference is full note with my modifications; if in the following footnote I cite the same item A goes Ibid.; and this is all ok; while, if I cite item A then item B and then A again the reference is formatted in the previous un-modified style rather than my modified style. I tried to sort out the issue by using CSL guide, however I cannot find the right macro. Could you help me solve this issue? Thank you so much!
@@sotadeayopo4597 you need to modify your .bst file you created with a text editor such as notepad, there u search for name format or something similar. U can change auther name style there.
Thank you very much. Your video is really easy to understand and pretty informative. I just still have a problem, when I cite in Mendeley with my modified citation style. Its citation is different from the one which appears in the Visual Editor (it shows me more information than I want). But according to the Visual Editor, everything is correct.
I would suggest you select a premade style that has [1-3] as its inline citation. Then make further editing. Always select a style that is the closest to your desired style. As for as [1,2,3] is concerned, its very rare I think (I haven't seen a style like this). So most of the styles you will be editing will already be having [1-3], so you will not require to edit it.

Might be due to the style you have chosen. The style demand might be that way.

Thank you so much for this. I would like to ask that what if i want the initials to come first, what do I need to do?
Do you want the initials of authors names to come first?
Yes.
I saw a reference style that is close to what I want, I only wish to bring the initials forward before the author names
