To avoid problems with articles try this: copy the doi of the article you found, open mendeley desktop and mannualy insert a reference, and paste the doi to look up for metadata. You wont have errors.
PLEASE DO A VIDEO ON FULL PROFESSORS WHO TAKE FIRST-AUTHORSHIPS IN PHD AND POSTDOC STUDENTS' WORK. THIS IS A HUGE SCAM IN ACADEMIA AND RESEARCH WHICH IS TOTALLY HUSHED UP AND UNADDRESSED.
It will not be addressed by anyone important because it's so hugely common that regular people won't risk their careers and wouldn't want to lose opportunities to do the same thing in the future 😂
I have reverted to the old version of Mendelay desktop as I found the new version (as of 12+18 months ago) harder to maintain my folders.of papers. Current version looks nicer, older version works better for local storage
Yeah, I was an avid Mendeley user for a decade. Then a year or two ago, something changed. I think my desktop version was deprecated, or the look and feel was dumbed down so as to match the online version. Anyways, I switched to Zotero, which has a nice look & feel. But transferring my references, though not hard, was a leap of faith.
Hey, thank you for the video! Do you or anyone else here have any idea how to show the "Table of Content" in the pdf reader window in mendeley? I´ve been going through the web but just can´t find anything....and I´m sure the pdf I want to do it with has the Table of Content and also that Mendeley showed it to me in the past. Thank you in advance
Great videos. Mendeley vs. Zotero- I've used both and I am trying to figure out which is going to be my preferred ref manager going forward. Zotero is open source, which is good. Mendeley has better duplicate ref identification. The citation tool for Mendeley seems a BIT better. Please help and recommend away. I know both can do the job...but I am an optimizer-which is best?
The video was very helpful, thank you. I still have a problem. I am using Vancouver style in German and Mendeley is writing the German "u.a." instead of "et al.". I cant find an instruction how to replace "u.a." by "et al." without changing the language. Can somebody help me?
Andy, what about backup? Has Mendeley ever lost/misplaced your documents? Always backup is my motto, but how do we do that? I guess by having your 'folder' you do have the references downloaded in another place.. Any thoughts? advice??
I'm loving Mendeley but I can't seem to get the quotes I want to use from my articles in Mendeley to Word. I know how to use the references and cites but can't get the actual quotes. Help!
I used Mendeley reference manager but I don't want the font it uses for my in-text. I prefer times new Roman, is there a way I can set it such that it appears in times new Roman?
I've worked with Mendeley during my undergrad and graduate programs and i've experienced the Mendeley cite software to be extremely slow (1 - 2 min of update time) when adding more reference to an already reference heavy document. I was wondering if anyone has experience with merging word documents to work around this problem (i.e. creating chapters in separate word documents and merging them with references into a master document with a single reference list)?
Is there a way to make citations from mendeley link to the corresponding reference? so when you click on the citations in text you transport to the correct reference without using bookmarks. Thanks
NEED HELP! The scientific names or species names during citation using mendeley is having a MAJOR issue. It doesn't italicize the bibliography and we have manually do it. Also if Mendeley fields are there then again it will go back to regular style. Hence we have to remove mendeley fields first and then italicise which is an issue.
In my opinion, if a university or research institute can't afford Endnote, it is definitely a red flag. In this case, research group members may use several different citation softwares, which may lead to a total disaster, when a manuscript of the research group should be wrapped up.
I used Mendeley throughout all of my PhD and PostDocs and there was nothing else that I needed at that time. However, now with AI, Zotero offers more options for integration at the moment if that is an important feature you are looking for in a reference manager.
@@DrAndyStapleton OMG! I just learned about all the plug-ins for Zotero and I gotta say, IT IS A BEAST! I think it would be cool if you talked about how to enhance Zotero to make it into a powerhouse (even more) with all the plug-ins! I currently have like 4 or 5 installed and it is a game-changer! Thanks for all your advice! 🙏🙏

Mendeley was so helpful for my undergrad research
Thank you @Andy your last minute video helped me to generate bibliography.
Thank you so much for following and helping me on my academic journey, which often has many obstacles.
Please do a similar video on Zotero ❤

Hey I'm studying to be a professor at university level, can you tell me more about this?

Same here the newer version seems very buggy

That was absolutely helpful

I am in a similar situation right now. Did you decide for anything yet? Would be curious to know!
Thank youuuu

Hyperlink the citation.

Check the data in Mendeley. It is also useful to inspect the doi, as it might be wrong. Then, restart everything and check software updates.
There is a citation editor online for this. You can take an existing citation style, edit it and save as yours.

Why Endnote? In my opinion it is so outdated!
❤❤❤ Good
If only I could open the papers that upload and highlighted anywhere except Mendeley desktop.
Can't you right click the library and select show file in finder/explorer, then open in Adobe/preview whatever?
I will try maybe I've just uploaded pdf files to mendeley desktop and done anything more to open anywhere or any laptop👍🏻
ok like help me out here. there are videos from Andrew recommending Zotero then Mendeley and the other way around. like whatsup ?

Mendeley or Zotero? Zotero seems more AI friendly?
How can I contact you?
