you got it all wrong, herbo is going to have a stable run game, yes he’s not going to be throwing the ball 40 times a game but Greg Roman is going to utilize play action with tight ends to open up big shots in the middle of the field, herbo is going to have lots of YAC this year also
Trey Pipkins at RG - should be an upgrade. Looking for Zion Johnson to take a step forward. Show art at right tackle should be an upgrade. Boseman at center should be an upgrade since we didn’t have a center last year. I think our blocking is going to be much better than he predicts but he’s covering all 32 teams so the depths of knowledge doesn’t seem very good at this point. Also, the addition of Ladd McConkey and DJ chart could have the wide receiver room better than he expects especially if Quentin Johnson is used properly and takes a step forward. If healthy, Gus Edwards and Dobbins could make this an excellent running back room with the addition of Vidal.
Dont underestimate the harbaugh effect. He didn't have a ton of top end talent on that Michigan team last year. He understands how to use players and get the best out of them. Herbert is arguably the best qb he's ever coached (Andrew Luck) . Cant overlook the importance of having a competent head coach.

We have reason to believe that a lot of the problems on defense were scheme related and a misuse of personel. After staley was fired the defense stepped up and became one of the better defenses in the league.
There's a lot like about this team. You can see the pieces falling into place, specially if some guys bounce back. The problem is that there's a dozen teams in the league whose pieces have already fallen into place the previous seasons. Whose guys are just good and not 'hoping to bounce back'. If we're talking about Herbert getting into and winning a playoff game, he'll need to win against these teams. I think the more realistic-positive expectations is for this team to be on the level of the Bengals. And the Bengals are a step short of elite, they can't field a top 10 offense and defense at the same time like the Ravens, Bills, KC and SF have been able to consistently do.
They are probably a year away from serious contention. There were a lot of things to fix and you won't do that in one off-season but they are certainly trending in that direction.
