This was wonderful! To see the natural setting, to see your process in carving and printing, and to hear you talk about what works, what wasn't working, and wrestling with salvaging something you weren't happy with. A nice reminder for myself - carry on!
Ah we did think about going to The Sloop lots of people said it is lovely! Thank you, I think my next print release will the first weekend of June but not totally sure yet!
I’m always so impressed that you are able to make reduction prints outside! It was also lovely to see the Pembrokeshire coastline - it’s where I grew up and I have very fond memories of it!
Just love watching your videos Molly. So calming and so inspiring to just go outside with some art materials. I feel so inspired by your beautiful carvings and prints. Thank you for sharing your talent ❤
What a lovely comment, thank you Adele! Yes heading out into nature with art supplies and no expectations is pure happiness for sure, I'm so pleased you feel inspired!
Beautiful views and a lovely sunset beach scene!! As usual, you have managed to create such amazing images, and I was impressed that you could do the printing outside! Winnie was a star as usual, and you could see how much she was enjoying the environment. Don't be disheartened if something doesn't seem to go right in your eyes, because to your viewers the images are still amazing! I'm still amazed that you can get so much detail into such a tiny block, and the images they produce are so evocative. [I finally found the word that I had been searching for, to describe the effect they have on me: evocative!! 😄]
Oh my gosh the scenery! I don’t know how to choose a composition when everywhere you look is so visually stunning! Thank you for sharing your residency Molly; the location and the B&B you stayed at looked so peaceful and wholesome somehow 😊 Your work, as ever, gorgeous! I thought your cathedral painting was beautiful and when you look at it in the future it will evoke such a strong memory for you I’m sure. I applaud you for continuing on with the last block too. I takes a certain kind of determination to see through a task when you think it’s going wrong and the end result in those perfect blues was absolutely charming. Always a joy to see your work and sweet Winnie against the sunset - she almost stole the show 😁
Aw thank you Natalie! I don't think we realised how much we needed a break until we arrived in Pembrokeshire, it was a really special trip! So many amazing locations to visit within relatively a small area and yes the Turkish delight ice cream was yummy! My favourite ice cream flavour is liquorice but thats a rare find!
I’m always so excited to see when your videos come out. Love your artworks and the boat one works so well in the blues. Good choice. I’m glad you kept going with it.
Aw I love that so much, I'm so pleased you look forward to my videos! Thank you - I'm learning to hold back on using all the colours and I think it's making for more successful prints!
@@mollylemonart My sister is an art therapist and has lino and I’ve been inspired to try some printing in a few weeks with her. I’ll try a wood block at some point I am sure too.
Great video Molly - I love seeing how you carve and print outdoors and the way you use your car is genius! How do you keep things clean when you are on the move like that? Do you have to take lots of newspaper/ rags/ solvents with you? Or do you just clean up with vegetable oil?
Hi Jess, thank you so much! I take rags, soapy water in a spray bottle and veg oil. I have a bag to put the dirty rags in and on this occasion there were public toilets nearby for me to clean the ink off my hands! I tend to do a proper clean of the equipment when I'm home!
Do you find that the Woodzilla press is good for printing wood engravings? I print by hand but that gets old really fast. I'm on the lookout for a press solution that is (relatively) affordable and can print the details of a wood engraving consistently.
It's a Pookipress, I'm not sure woodzilla has the ability to print type-high blocks such as wood engravings 🤔 I really like mine as it's portable unlike my Albion press! I tend to need to hand burnish the centre of the block but to be fair that's often the case on my little Albion as well. You can use the code MOLLYLEMON for 5% off if you decide to go for it!
Hi Molly. Your reduction prints are fascinating. I find the process very similar to developing film where you don't exactly how the final result will look like. Also, I'm glad that you stick to the second project even though you weren't satisfied with the design. This reminded me of one of my favorite quotes "FINISHED NOT PERFECT", by comic artist and illustrator Jake Parker. It would love to see a video about your beginnings as a printmaker and see how your process has evolved over time.
Thank you so much! Oh yes and that anticipation of revealing the final outcome is very similar to developing film for sure! Oh interesting video suggestion! I will add it to my list!
I'm always fascinated that you carve a block outside as easy and straightforward as if sketching - it's wonderful. Lovely work as always.
Thank you! I always feel quite tense working outside because it’s quite a challenge but I like how immediate it is as I’m forced to work fast 🥰
Lovely! Beautiful! Fascinating! And my favorite part…Winnie chasing her tail. 😁🐶
Haha I'm trying to take nice shots of the room and she goes and does that 🤣
I'm fascinated with the process of your printing. The boat print is lovely. Winnie has such joy, what a sweetie.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yes definitely, often if you continue with something it works out okay in the end... or it doesn't but at least you tried 😅🥰
Looks like a day mark to us. So yes, to guide ships into the harbour. That was a great print!
Ah thank you! I feel so out of my depth when it comes to the travel part of my videos, research and pronunciation is not my strong suit 😅
I love to see how you work. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for taking the time to watch!
What a beautiful place! And your work is so lovely. I am so fortunate to now own a couple of pieces!! ❤
Thank you so much Rose! I'm fortunate to have lovely customers like you!!
What a beautiful place Molly. Lots to inspire (-: Marion ❤
It really was beautiful Marion! 🥰
The boat print turned out so cute!!
Thank you Beth!
Oh I love Porthgain… the Sloop is our favourite! I hope I can buy one of these prints

What a lovely trip. I do love the coast. I think the boats look just right in only blues. It’s amazing how you transport your studio with you.
It was such a lovely few days! Thank you! To be fair that Solva print has grown on me, I’m pleased I continued with it!

Interesting to see you work through your whole process outside, and in such a very beautiful place. Thanks for sharing your amazing art.
My pleasure! Thank you so much for watching!
I won't be original by saying that I am so impressed by your ability to create something so beautiful outside😍. Lovely views too!
Thank you so much! It's really tricky working outside and I'm very rarely that happy with the result but I love a challenge 🤣
Just coming to the end of the podcast episodes - I really look forward to your content on both channels & grateful for all your hard work. Inspiring!
I appreciate that! Thank you so much!
Lovely video, your work is exquisite.
Thank you so much Anita!
It looks such a wonderful place to stay!
It really was, we had such a lovely time! ☀️

Sold. Im looking into a visit in September. 😀
Oh great! September is a lovely month to go away, still warm (hopefully) but nice and quiet!
Couldn’t wait so I’m booked in for a week in Trefin in June 😊
