Picked one up the other day… love it. Plus all the bits are even lifetime warranty. Asked the guy at HF if one of them break and he said “we will open up a new one and then swap it out”.. gotta say, at least I’m not in debt to a tool truck….nice video as always Morgan…👍👍👍
Thanks… for watching and confirming the bits. I thought that was the case but wasn’t 100% sure. I figure it’s a 1/4” ratchet so it should hold up just fine. It’s not like I’ll be standing on it to loosen lug nuts. Although with a lifetime warranty and the right adapter….😂😂😂
When they do this they usually discount the open set. I wonder if they’d sell me the discounted set if I end up doing a warranty exchange on a broken but from my set?
You are gonna love that ratchet! It has already paid off for me. I do HVAC and the genius engineers that design the equipment love to put stuff in stupid stops. And that lottle baby will get right in there. ATTENTION: HVAC guys... Setting gas pressure on a Carrier RTU gas valve (you know the one). This is your "life-saver" tool right here. 😎👍
Yeah, it never ceases to amaze me some of the thought that doesn’t go into the build/design when it comes to servicing equipment of all kinds. Thanks for sharing!
I was reluctant to get this as the price seemed kinda high for HF. After trying 2 other bit ratchets (including the Klein which was junk), I wish I would've gotten this first. Definitely a solid tool and worth the price of admission. Down side is I had to go 2 towns over to find a HF that had one in stock. They definitely need to stock more of these, especially with the amount of videos on it.
I know. I went to the two close to me and none had it, then I ordered it (which cost more with shipping) and it took like 2 1/2 weeks to get it. Yeah on the HF price too..I don’t think I’ve ever went in Harbor Freight and spent $40 on one tool 😂. I like it so far, and to have a warranty like the old Sears/Craftsman warranty where you just walk in the door and swap it is hard to beat. I guess that might depend on if the store has one to swap it with… Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it. I always like to read comments of other peoples videos to see what people say about the tool beside the person who shot the video. So it’s always helpful when others share what they think. Thanks for watching too!
Saw a video on this last fall. I don't go to HF often, it's in the next county. But I wanted to see this for myself. I had to look several times on the Icon display to find it. It's really small compared to everything around it. It was sealed and there was not one displayed, so I bought it anyway. With VA tax it was $44. I opened it in the parking lot and was pleased with the quality. But I'd not put it to use either, so still kind of wary. I put it in my small bag I keep for electrical work. I figured it would be a kind of neat thing to have, but rarely use. The first week I used it 3 times, in spots that would have had me going back to the truck for something else. It's a very handy tool kit, and the case is designed for maximum storage. I've tried sneaking other bits in, but I have to replace one for one if I do.
Thanks for sharing! I bought thinking I would only use occasionally as well, but have found myself using more often. I didn’t really have any compact flex head ratchets before this, so my brain still takes a bit to say get “get the flex head out” at times it will be helpful. I’ve had no problems with mine so far and don’t imagine I will with this size ratchet. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts, it helps people out. I know when I watch videos I always check the comments and see what others are saying about the tool. Have a great day!
It's a really nice little compact tool kit for the money. Got this the other week when they were on sale for ~$34 instead of the $45 they normally charge - really love the bit selection and versatility of the driver. I'm currently carrying it in my Veto CP4 'grab bag' that I take with me in whatever vehicle I'm riding in during the day (personal or work truck or riding with someone else) - which also has a few sets of keys, some cash, ear buds, meds, phone charger, a lighter, a S&W 642, KNIPEX 100mm cobra & pliers, and (of course) a 10mm socket and a few extra jumper wires. Makes it convenient to keep your personal 'stuff' with ya when switching between personal and work vehicles day-in and day-out - especially when you need to drop a vehicle off at a shop to get serviced and are driving something else. Already wanting to get a 2nd one next time they're on sale to go in the 'overnight/weekend bag' I'm gonna put together using the new Veto EDC backpack.
I’ve been looking at those CP4’s. I love Veto Stuff. I have been glad I’ve purchased this set too and would definitely recommend. It’s got me out of a jamb a few times already.
I bought the larger CP5 and put all my Allen tools in (long t-handles, sockets, key packs, etc). Long term, I hope to have most of my work tools 'kitted' into smaller bags that can be easily grabbed with no guessing or digging. Over-kill....but ultimately keeps frustration and wasted time to a minimum while working.
Here is the best tip i can give you in case you do not know. Malco Eagle Grip locking pliers come in a 7 and 10 inch size currently. They come in flat and curved heads. They are made in the exact same plant in Dewitt Nebraska that the world famous Petersen Vice Grips were made. That plant and all the employees were thrown away like yesterday's trash when the new owner of the vice grip brand bought them out. For that reason i no longer purchase the tools owned by the parent company. The Malco Eagle Grips are without a doubt the finest pair of locking pliers i have ever owned. No other brand comes close. I own 6 other major brands - and gave them away when i bought the Malcos. I own all 4 current offerings & am waiting on them to come out with needle noses.
Thank you. Just screenshot your suggestion for my tool research I do while I’m waiting for things.😂 I love looking at tools and thinking about what all I can use them for. I use C-Clamp style locking pliers when framing with steel studs but I need to look into your suggestion for the standard type. I don’t use them often because I haven’t enjoyed using any that I have used before. Yours may be the ticket.
If it’s the small Makita ones you are talking about… you can get them on Amazon or Home Depot. They have some 3/8 drive sets as well. I think I have links in the description
I’m not a big Harbor Fright guy myself. But I saw this set on Instagram last week and liked what I saw. Went to HF and they had not put it out yet, that’s how new it is. I keep it in my tool bag in my truck. It’s been super handy just in one week. Seems well made for HF. I’ve already gotten my $40.00 worth out of it. Very handy, well made and worth the $40.00. I highly recommend it.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Very helpful. I don’t buy a lot there either but the Icon stuff looks pretty good. Haven’t used it much but I like it so far as well.
@@owenbearden5769 yeah, it’s hard to beat a tool that is fairly decent with a lifetime warranty. Especially the type of warranty that you just walk in the store and swap it out.
@@owenbearden5769 So far, I’ve been impressed with this little kit. I’ve used it several times in the week or so that I have had it and it seems well made. No complaints! I’m satisfied.
I have been looking for a kinda do all for my Range Bag , It’s one of those things when you don’t need it ya need it things. Can’t beat it for the price I have all there icon ratchets for the home box and there really nice. Great review fellow Tool Nut. LOL…
This one has come in handy several times. It took forever for my store to get them. They still don’t put them on the shelves, you have to ask for them. Tool Nuts think alike 😂
I picked up one of these the other day. Very nice quality. It's not something I will use all the time, but I do have a couple times I've needed something like this to get to screws under my vehicles dash.
I run into places where my finger are up against something pretty often. The flex head is a great addition to the options I have. I told someone it’s not a tool I’ll use often…but it’s a tool I’ll be glad I have when I need it. Thanks for watching and I hope you get good use out of it!
Nice little ratchet, I have a small husky kit that is similar I use on furnaces. The husky ratchet doesn’t lock when you adjust the head at different angles sometimes that can get annoying. Having that T handle and extension is real nice touch. I’ll probably end up buying this and there digital torque adapter by Quinn.
The adapter is what I liked about it too. The holding two bits is nice for me because with my Klein I always had to find something to do with the socket adapter while using a bit. Now I just swap it and store it in the handle. I’ve looked at those digital torque adapter. I think it would be pretty nice, especially since you could use on your favorite ratchets. If you get one, let me know how it works for you.
The worst thing about making these videos is that I put tools and prices out there my wife would never have known about 😂😂 I would have never known about this had I not just stumbled across it. I don’t typically look at those type of tools at Harbor Freight. At least not enough time in those sections that I would have found it. I think it’s going to be pretty useful when I need it. Thanks for watching!
VIM Tools just released a similar ratchet and extender without the case or bits. For $35. I use the set for my tool maintenance on my ratchets. The bits and extentor for my impact driver at work. You can also add more drill bit extenders to increase the length of the ratchet. Plus the pieces are S2 tampered. Well worth the price point. All of the Icon tools come with a hassle free lifetime warranty.
Funny you mention that, The VIM tool came up as an ad on something I was on this morning. I didn’t click on it to see the price. I’ve only used it a handful of times so far but I’ve been pretty impressed with it. Thanks for the suggestion on adding more drill extensions.. seems like it should be something anyone should realize, but I didn’t think about doing it till you just mentioned it Thanks for your thoughts and for watching!
The VIM RBF400K is just a longer version of this same tool, manufactured by HI-FIVE just as this Icon and every other bit ratchet marked " reverse gear " on the thumb wheel is.
It is interesting as I have both a Wera but check and the Icon set. I have to say I was disappointed with Wera for the cost. The Icon set is better for my application. The little rachet with extension has become my screwdriver and socket driver, and is used every day.
@@MORGANSMaintenance almost all my co-workers have the wera set, and I have one too, but I think ratchet is so versatile and for half the price. The Wera ratchet is much smaller than I expected
VIM tools also makes this exact tool but they have an 85 piece set for it. I plan on getting both, where I work I need tools but I also work on cars in my pass time so it'd be cool to keep the icon at work in my go bag and then the bigger set at my shop.
Just pick this up today with the torx bits that are included in this I think this will be really great for tightening up Leatherman's or other multi-tools and doing any modifications as well as work in tight spaces
Yeah I carried a small ratchet with me in the first place because the cameras I work on primarily take security torx bits. I often can’t get a screwdriver between them and the building but his works great for that. It’s a handy little tool. Not something I will use daily in my line of work… but when I need something like this I’m glad I’ve got it. Thanks for sharing how you will use it. That is very helpful for people to make a decision if it’s useful to them…. And thanks for watching!
I used mine twice last week and it was the only tool I had on me that allowed me to get to the fasteners. It comes in handy when you need it. Hope you like it 👍
@@MORGANSMaintenance I’m retired Navy, now working on Injection Molding Machines where I am always looking for a way to not carry a huge load of tools into a facility. This has hopefully eliminated ~10 tools. I have a veto bag that I try to not overload. Thanks for the video,…subscribed and I am going through your videos on other tools I may need. Looking at that bit holder PB screwdriver video now!
@@charlottes-world680 I’ve been keeping that in my “go bag” since I got it. Like it so far. The best “all in one” with the least tools is one of my earliest videos the Klein Super Screwdriver…. If you haven’t seen that. And Thank You! for you service 👍
In the ratchet the bit is held by friction. I’m the end of the ratchet handle where a bit can go, or in the extension the bit is held with magnets. It slightly magnetized the bits while holding them in place, but it’s really only magnetic to hold the bit, not the fastener
I got this with the 20% off coupon a few days ago it came out to $36 nice kit, will be helpful for some tight spaces. The version sold by other companies like VIM has a longer ratchet and extension but those sets cost around double the price so this is a much better price and I think more useful with the shorter ratchet and extension. You can also throw on more extension pieces I have a few Milwaukee extension 12" that fit on this tool so can extended further if I need.
@@MORGANSMaintenance I heard that they were hard to find lately too; store stock showed 'Limited Availability' online - 3 or 4 hanging in the ICON section when I arrived (specifically went for that bit set). Mentioned it to the guy at the checkout and he said they they had just unloaded the truck an hour or so before I arrived and 6 came in - they're usually sold out.
Hello, what are the exact dimensions of the ICON box (without the retail packaging, of course, haha)? I cannot find such data on the HF product page. Thank you!
@@leecherlarry the case is 4 7/8” Length x 2 1/2” Wide (including the latch and hinge - it’s 2 1/4” in the few spots without hinge and latch) It is 1 1/2” Height This is with tape measure, don’t have any calipers on me. Hope that helps
Great find. We don’t have Harbor Freight in Alaska, but I’ll check it out when I’m down in the States again. If you are looking for a good bit holder look at the Wiha 79495 31-Piece XLSelector Bit Set. I’ve tried a lot of them but this is my favorite due to its size and ability to keep the bits in place. It’s a thin design that fits real nice in the MCT pocket. As a maintenance tech you know how frustratingly often you will come across every bit under the rainbow. Thanks for keeping us up on all the good stuff in the market!
Thanks for the suggestion. Another thing to add in my Amazon list :) Very true on the bits…plus we have the whole standard/metric stuff in the States too. Being a multi-job type person makes the amount of tools you need get ridiculous. I’ve always said if I chose to just do one thing instead of 10, I could have probably retired by now on tool savings alone… But then again, what fun would that be 😂 Thanks for all your comments and support!
The Standard/Metric situation is something else isn't it? Thank God I very rarely run into a metric situation in the field; definitely not enough to warrant carrying a set of nut drivers around in my GoBag. I bet one day the US will gradually move towards the metric system; just not in our lifetime. So here we are buying good quality metric tools from Europe and Japan. I've had to learn metric to use our Festool track saw. But I hardly use it for anything else.
@@ryanofalaska I run into just enough to keep a little bit of tools on me… but not much. Those few Makita sockets I have usually take care of it (unless working on cars) I always wished we had one standard when it came to nuts and fasteners, but now that I watch many people from other countries working I’m a little jealous of their tape measurements being just a number without fractions.
@@MORGANSMaintenance yeah aside from simple spanners FACOM is billing the brand name a lot nowadays based on the past reputation and lifetime unconditional warranty... quality is not what it used to be but prices only went up :\ so i sure wouldn't have paid for the 150$ facom, but that ICON, i could have paid for that :D
Same manufacture HI-FIVE, different body style but identical internals and quality. the most expensive variants of HI-FIVE sets include sockets, but that's the only upgrade.
Great tool set! Perfect to carry in my veto bag. I’m really enjoying my Icon torque wrenches I got for Christmas. Icon makes quality tools and I have nothing but great things to say about them. Awesome video!!
Thank you. Yeah I am pretty impressed with it. Since I had to order it I wasn’t sure what to expect but I’m glad I picked it up. I may buy some more Icon in the future. Have a good one!
I like the flex head on it and having a short option but extra reach if needed with the extension. I have needed that extra reach several times….along with the flex head. There are a few cheaper options without the Bits.. Vim Tools RFB400k (it’s out of stock on Amazon right now & this one… amzn.to/3W9NSMO I don’t have either of those to vouch for them but they both have good reviews. I don’t use the case or the bits on my ICON, I just keep the ratchet and the handle in my tool bag. Yeah $50 is kinda high… it is nice that you can walk in Harbor Freight and get Lifetime replacements… but I’m not sure what they will replace them with, my Harbor Freight never has them. It’s one of those tools that you may not use often, but nice when you do. Just depends on how bad the situation is when you do if it’s worth $50
BTW this made by HI-FIVE who manufacturers the WERA and the FACOM. Every bit ratchet marked " Reverse gear " on the thumb wheel is made by HI-FIVE, and you'll find dozens and dozens of bit ratchets made by them. You can get a variant of this flex head bit ratchet as a MAC for $60 for just the ratchet.
Yeah I will find it useful but I think people in Automotive work is who this is made for. I could see it being used pretty often in that field. Thanks for your thought and for watching!
Are you familiar with bahco? It's a swedish company owned by snap on. I used one of their bit socket set I borrowed from a Dutch technician I was working with and I was very impressed with the quality. It's bahco 2058/S26. But I'm really liking this Icon ratchet, I might get one.
So far so good. Been useful in some situations. I haven’t really had a job that “abused” it really, but I believe it will hold up fine. Worse case Harbor Freight at least has any easy warranty process.
@@MORGANSMaintenance yeah I've seen this same kit with 3 or 4 different names on it,I've got a Were tool Check Plus so I'm not in the market, but I'm always looking for spares, this doesn't fit the bill unfortunately.

Do you a one of the wera tool checks? Not sure if you said something. This little guy looks handy. I like the icon line honestly. At first I think they had issues but pretty solid!
No. I’ve been back and forth on it. It’s been sitting in my Amazon list for awhile. I mainly haven’t pulled the trigger because you would have to have two for metric and standard sockets and they are like $80-$90 each. That and it would take up more space in the bag with the case I think. My Makita sockets are $10 and are also impact rated… I’m not sure the WERA ones are. That being said, When I do buy one 😂😂 I may get just the standard and keep carrying my metric Makita ones since I don’t use them as often. This ICON is pretty nice so far… and it has a lifetime warranty like the good ole days where you walk in and swap it. That’s hard to beat.
@@MORGANSMaintenance yeah man I picked one up and to be honest I don’t even know which set I got. I think it’s the metric. And no their not impact rated. It’s pretty slim and very convenient, where I have it located. @@KoolinwithKrauss yeah the Makitas are really compact. I have 3/8 drive sets too that I keep in my truck with my M12 Stubby. They run all of them on sale at Home Depot all the time for $10-$15. Yeah the closest ones to me didn’t have any in stock yet. There were some that were far a little to far from me that said “in stock” but these days when a website says that it means nothing. It took over 2 weeks for me to get it. This thing traveled around the whole country before it got to me. The tracking was crazy. I think it will be useful…at least in my mind.

I have small Wera 073645 with 1/4 ratchet. It's one of the best purchases I've ever made. It was something like $40 or $45. Wera (pronounced as Vera) is Knipex of ratchets, spanners and bit holders. Rapidaptor bit holders are industrial grade accessories.
That’s the one I was looking out while I was searching and I think I’m going to pick it up soon too also. I looked at the ones with the sockets but I would have to buy 2 sets to get imperial and metric about $90 each. Which is a hard sell when I got the Makita ones for $10 and they are impact rated. I really want to try the ratchet though and I plan to stick the set you recommend in my MCT for the bit storage and the ratchet. I have a free spot that looks like it’s made for it. The auto adjusting Jokers look interesting too, do you have those? Yeah I caught myself on the WERA and changed to “Vera”. I’ll get it eventually 😂😂😂 As always… Good to hear from you!
And the audacity of TH-cam that they didn’t notify me of your comment for some reason?…. My #1 commenter 😂😂. I only noticed it while scrolling down the other ones.
@@MORGANSMaintenance I never really needed these self-adjusting wrenches. And that price tag stops me from buying just for the sake of having them. I always forget you have the imperial/metric problem. Here the only reason to use imperial would be some American=made cars. In everyday use we go full metric. Impact rated bit holders from Wera (Impaktor) are IMHO POS. I had two and both stopped holding the bits due to impact damage. Probably Milwaukee 4932459398 is the best I've used so far. Although their impact-rated bits are mediocre. I usually use non-impact rated in my non-impact drills and impact-rated in impact-drivers. As a Makita fan I think Makita bit holders are not worth buying - they are cheap but very low quality, close to disposable. Bosch and Irwin make decent non-impact ones.
@@MORGANSMaintenance NP. I'm glad too see more and more comments from other viewers and more initial views of each video. That curve is getting steeper.
@@Stefan_Kawalec I thought the same thing on the price tag for those wrenches. I figure my Knipex Pliers wrench was more bang for the buck on the sizes. Yeah the imperial/metric is a big thing here. We get so much stuff from all over that you have to have both because you never know when it will show up. I use the Milwaukee Bit holders primarily as well (I have the same as you in multiple lengths). Although I do like the newer Dewalt ones so far. A friend gave me some and I’ve been using them for the last month or so. They are slimmer than the Milwaukee ones at the head but have the bit release the Milwaukee ones do.
My stores didn’t have them when they first came out. I ended up paying to ship it to my house. I’ve still not seen it in my Actual Harbor Freight either and the price has went up since I bought mine. Not sure if it’s a big seller or if they just can’t get any in inventory.

@@slab4x477 being bigger is one reason I haven’t bought it yet. All together in the case it seems like it needs a big slot in a bag. The biggest reason is because to get standard and metric sockets you have to buy 2 sets. Hard to pass up the Makita Sockets that are impact rated for $10 a set. All that said….I will still probably buy the WERA next week 😂😂
This model, along with the Facom and other varieties are made by Toptul Taiwan. Good quality, and the original CHEV0811 can be picked up for under 20 euro over here.

It's much better than the Matco and Snap-on crap, they don't offer a case of this quality either. they are in those cheap brittle plastic cases that crack and are hard to open. Icon tools is doing it right.

I've been looking at the Wera bit check plus but it's really overpriced in my opinion and while the screwdriver handle is nice to have the ICON/FACOM is a better design and doesn't necessarily need it, I think this with a set of 1/4 sockets would be a better buy and especially if you're building a small bare minimum tool kit.

@MORGANSMaintenance mate we don't wera sint cheap at all snap in prices half their stuff is lol I have just paid 40 quid just for the ratchet and bar you get in this set no bits though
It is a solid tool, just heavy and bulky package. The Wera is more $$ but does have some great sockets as well as bits in a tight package. Really wish the Wera came with a flex head and ability to add that extension/hex in the handle. Wera has a short extension, but only for the head, not the handle end. My light/small go to is a "Topeak Ratchet Stick" (was on sale for $20) that has 5 bits built into the handle and the Klein "7-in-1 Impact Flip Socket" ($20) so I get 6 sockets and 5 bits and an extension. Just don't have that flex head. THERE IS NOTHING PERFECT!!!! Grrrr. Maybe I should just remove the Wera ratchet and extension from the top and replace with some magnets to add the Icon ratchet and extension...
Yeah I don’t carry the whole kit.. I just keep the ratchet and extension in my bag with the 1/4 Makita Impact Sockets. I do like the case… I just don’t have room for all that in my bag. You are right… it’s hard to find the perfect tool without combining multiple things 👍
Worth a shot… I know I have returned stuff to Lowes and went in later and found my return on clearance… I have rebought it a time or two 😂
You are gonna love that ratchet!
I guess that might depend on if the store has one to swap it with…
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it.
I could not find it either, smaller than I was expecting but I really like it. Seems high quality for the price.
@@scrambler350 I’m a big fan of specialized kits. It keeps me from forgetting something more than anything
Thank you. Just screenshot your suggestion for my tool research I do while I’m waiting for things.😂
I love looking at tools and thinking about what all I can use them for. I use C-Clamp style locking pliers when framing with steel studs but I need to look into your suggestion for the standard type. I don’t use them often because I haven’t enjoyed using any that I have used before. Yours may be the ticket.
Were did you get those socket sets, i really like how compact that is
If it’s the small Makita ones you are talking about… you can get them on Amazon or Home Depot.
The icon line from harbor freight is surprisingly nice
@@owenbearden5769 yeah, it’s hard to beat a tool that is fairly decent with a lifetime warranty. Especially the type of warranty that you just walk in the store and swap it out.
@@owenbearden5769 So far, I’ve been impressed with this little kit. I’ve used it several times in the week or so that I have had it and it seems well made. No complaints! I’m satisfied.

I love Harbor Freight. No surprise you had to order it online. They sell out of the store almost immediately.
👍… I was in there last week and they actually had some. The first time I had seen it in the store ever.
I finally found their Knipex imitation pliers.
@@ex8280 yeah they have had those the last couple times I’ve been in there. I haven’t picked them up.
More tools ! Your killing me…… Thanks, options are the way to go. Thanks for the video sir.
The worst thing about making these videos is that I put tools and prices out there my wife would never have known about 😂😂
I would have never known about this had I not just stumbled across it.
Thanks for the suggestion on adding more drill extensions.. seems like it should be something anyone should realize, but I didn’t think about doing it till you just mentioned it

It is interesting as I have both a Wera but check and the Icon set. I have to say I was disappointed with Wera for the cost. The Icon set is better for my application. The little rachet with extension has become my screwdriver and socket driver, and is used every day.
I just finally got a WERA Tool Check to try out, but you are right… they are pricey
I’ve seen the VIM ratchet but not as a set… appreciate you letting us know 👍
I really appreciate the review I try to keep things that are multi function too.
Thanks.
Yeah it helps a bunch when you try to pack light. Sometimes multi function isn’t as good as dedicated but it’s worth it for the space saving.
Just got one. Hope it helps as I had various t handles and now I just carry this one.

@@MORGANSMaintenance I’m sure I’ll get there soon. Saw a Klein stubby at Home Depot I almost snagged but decided on the Icon for now.
Is the bit holder in the ratchet head magnetic?
In the ratchet the bit is held by friction. I’m the end of the ratchet handle where a bit can go, or in the extension the bit is held with magnets.
It slightly magnetized the bits while holding them in place, but it’s really only magnetic to hold the bit, not the fastener
I'm getting one now thanks for video

I got this with the 20% off coupon a few days ago it came out to $36 nice kit, will be helpful for some tight spaces. The version sold by other companies like VIM has a longer ratchet and extension but those sets cost around double the price so this is a much better price and I think more useful with the shorter ratchet and extension. You can also throw on more extension pieces I have a few Milwaukee extension 12" that fit on this tool so can extended further if I need.

I’ve always said if I chose to just do one thing instead of 10, I could have probably retired by now on tool savings alone…
But then again, what fun would that be 😂
Thanks for all your comments and support!
Those few Makita sockets I have usually take care of it (unless working on cars)
I always wished we had one standard when it came to nuts and fasteners, but now that I watch many people from other countries working I’m a little jealous of their tape measurements being just a number without fractions.
Check out the Facom R1 Pico wratchet set.

I use the Milwaukee Bit holders primarily as well (I have the same as you in multiple lengths). Although I do like the newer Dewalt ones so far. I’ve used mine several times now and it has worked well. I really like it. Thanks for the info… others may be able to find those varieties easier if HarborFreight isn’t in their area 👍
@@MORGANSMaintenance Cheers, I'm using the Toptul variety daily in a Leatherman Surge based compact tool kit. I've got the Facom variety at home, which is identical save for the handle, but for the ultra compact form factor they're super practical tools.
@ Bas: many thanks for pointing to Toptul! Being also in NL I just bought a returned Facom set for a good discount, but now thanks to you I found the same set from Toptul for 1/3rd of the Facom retail price… Bought 6 to give away as present.
Great detailed review!
Thank you..for the compliment and for watching.
Wonder what the cost is today. This is 1 year ago.
It was $45 last time I was in there… a month or so ago.
@@MORGANSMaintenance Still is. Thx
I have several, icon tools.
Good quality. 🛠🔧🤺
Harbor Freight Warranty, is A-1 Excellente'.
Yeah this was my first one… been really good so far. 👍
@@MORGANSMaintenance
I have, all their pliers...the Knipex 10" Wrench and a Snap-on inspired ratchet.
Not too shabby, the price point is somewhat more to a normal man's standard.
And the warranty is hassle free, no problems...ever.
Walk in, get another one.
If they're out of stock, they let you get something close, and order amother one or and send it to your house.
They're not perfect, but their really close.
@@VRCM_Skywarn_XUSA yeah the warranty there is really good
It's much better than the Matco and Snap-on crap, they don't offer a case of this quality either. they are in those cheap brittle plastic cases that crack and are hard to open. Icon tools is doing it right.
I’ve only bought a couple Icon tools but so far I like them a lot 👍
the first 20% discount they released after this came out this was a insta buy
It’s come in handy for me more than once. I really like it 👍
How can i get one of this in Europe?
I’m not sure. There are other brands that make a very similar tool that they may sell over there. Facom is the original I think but it is expensive. I have also seen a VIM tools version.
Maybe they are available if you can’t get a Harbor Freight one.
The VIM is available on Amazon… I will put a link in the description for you
I'm glad to see you've gone with Icon. Harbor Freight has REALLY upped their game. Icon is nearly as good as my Snap On. Certainly a better value.
I’ve bought two Icon tools so far and like them both 👍
Picked one up yesterday (4-8-22), the price went up to $44.99. . . .At least it's NOT made in china!
I had heard the price went up. Seems like that is the ongoing trend with everything unfortunately.
I think you will like it.
Is there no sockets for this?
No just driver bits. I keep the 1/4” Makita sockets from Home Depot in my bag.
@@MORGANSMaintenance thanks, but is there an actual good mini ratchet out there that includes sockets?
@@Fitjaycjr A lot of people like the WERA sets www.amazon.com/dp/B00I8MYMT2/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_6V82CPBFAN4WQK097JD4?linkCode=ml1&tag=jmorg198002-20
Personally I feel those are a little pricey, especially since you would have to buy two sets to get Metric and SAE.
I buy the Makita sockets because they are impact rated… and cheap… amzn.to/3o8TM6d
I’m not sure if the WERA sockets are impact rated
Try the ez red 1/4 stick, I don't know the name exactly but I have these and that and love them both, but the ez red is so awesome!
Looks nice… you have the long one & short one… one more useful than the other?
The long 1,it's awesome and very sturdy so you can use it without hesitation!
@@williamduff9296 thanks… I think I may order the long one and keep in my MCT since I already have this short one.
Looks pretty sweet.
I meant that and the icon set,I typically use them together
@@williamduff9296 👍 I get what your saying now. That is a sweet find… because 1/4” stuff is what I keep on me.
Ordered and on its way…Thanks a bunch
I've been looking at the Wera bit check plus but it's really overpriced in my opinion and while the screwdriver handle is nice to have the ICON/FACOM is a better design and doesn't necessarily need it, I think this with a set of 1/4 sockets would be a better buy and especially if you're building a small bare minimum tool kit.
That’s the same reason I haven’t bought the WERA.
Harbor Freight is releasing a version this year that includes sockets.
I tried to buy one of these, none in stock anywhere near me.
My local store has never had them in store either the times I’ve been in there.
I ordered mine and shipped it to my house, but had to pay for shipping. That was early on though. I figured they would have more by now. Hopefully they will get more stock of them soon.
@@MORGANSMaintenance They can only be bought in-store in my area.
@@tonyg7553 maybe one day we won’t have so many supply shortages 🤞. I’m sure that is part of it. My Home Depot is nearly out of tools in person.
@@MORGANSMaintenance It is already getting better at my Home Depot.
@@tonyg7553 that’s good.
Mine has never carried many tools, especially the specialty ones. There are other Home Depot’s I’ve been in that blow mine out of the water. I typically have to ship to store on a lot of things. Even though mine never has a bunch, it has been even less than usual.
Glad to hear maybe it’s on the way up and possibly won’t get worse.
people forget what HF is for, to go buy that one time use tool for CHEAP. u go there for jack-stans, chains, hammer. u know none mechanical things. these fools on TH-cam comparing ICON with Snap-On is the dumbest shht iv seen. Snap-On dudes sneaker, well dahh there's no comparison so why tf do one? AND, Snap-On don't perform near what the fn price says. 25 years ago when i was still a teen, i did buy a Pittsburg jack and jack-stans from HF, the jack still works great. i have a buddy with abunch of Pittsburg tools and he swears by them. sorry for the rant, thank for your time, i just might buy a whole set of ICON to see for myself. they cant be any worse than Craftsman's. they have that 300 ps? anyways ty again.
I get it. This is the first ICON tool I purchased, but it was only because it was the only one like it I had seen.. bought for a specific reason.
Harbor Freight is normally my tarp, furniture dolly, and zip tie store 😂.
I do like this little tool a lot, it has gotten more expensive since I bought it though.
Nice...
I think it’s going to get some use. I hope it helps like I think it will.
Thanks for watching!
I dont know about america but in croatia we can get 45 piece toptul whic is almost the same but difdernet bits for 50 euros but 35 piece for 45 dollars and you dont get any socketa i dont know would probably still get toptul its made in taiwan not china 😊
There are a few other version of this that you can get in the US also. This brand here has actually been hard to get ahold of.
👍
That's pretty nifty
I thought so when I saw it. Gives me more options than what I had in pretty much the same space. Thought I’d give it a go.
Thanks for watching!
T handles really need to ratchet though.
True…Most things that ratchet are better… although I am against the norm on screwdrivers. I never really prefer the ratcheting screwdrivers. I just can’t get in the groove using them.
Funny it's a copy of the famous french R1 PICO by FACOM (Stanley Black Decker)
Yeah that’s what Harbor Freight does 😂.
There is a couple other brands that have similar options as well.
Can I buy only ratchet without bits?
I don’t think so. They don’t show it online, and I haven’t seen it that way in the store.
VIM tools has just the ratchet with the extension and socket adapter for about $10 less.
Thanks for the help 👍 @Tim Kimbley
Icon is pretty great quality. Better than most big box store brands excluding rigid and obviously anything knipex. Better than kobalt, husky and honestly craftsman.
Maybe even miluakee in some ways.
@@rjskum688 it is the only tool I have so far… but I have been impressed with it. If I needed a socket set, I wouldn’t think twice about buying Icon.
@@MORGANSMaintenance ya man. The breaker bars and socket wrenches are pretty sweet too. I used to be one of those guys who bashed harbour frieght lol
@@rjskum688 I never bought tools there much before… it was more my zip tie and one time use drill bit store 😂…. Oh and tarps and furniture dollies.
Mine is really in a weird part of town not by any other store I go to much… so I don’t go very often is really why I don’t buy much there…. But I have noticed the last few times I’ve been in there it does seem like they have some better stuff
Could you poat me one to England they are 113 quid here 40 dollars for you guys not fair lol
I know, you guys get hammered on some prices for things sometimes… but you get some tools like Knipex and WERA cheaper than us 😂
@MORGANSMaintenance mate we don't wera sint cheap at all snap in prices half their stuff is lol I have just paid 40 quid just for the ratchet and bar you get in this set no bits though
@@MORGANSMaintenance Agreed!
HF can't keep them in stock: they sell out in hours every shipment.
I’ve never seen them in my local one. I don’t go in there often, but they have never had them. I ordered mine and shipped it to my house.
*1 stolen tool in pennsylvania harbor freight stores.
I’ve been hearing they have been hard to come by…. I guess that’s why 😂.
I don’t go in Harbor Freight often, but mine has never had them there.
Check out Proxxon
Have never heard of them. I will check them out.
Thanks for the suggestion 👍
