Not exactly true. While there are two interpretations of the Serpent's Hand in the SCP-5000 Universe. One of them being where they themselves cut off the ways to the Wanderer's Library. The one that most people acknowledge to be canon is the one where the SCP Foundation track down the Serpent's Hand and sever their connection between the Library and their World so they wouldn't be able to intervene. However, because this was done by the SCP Foundation, there was still a large group of Serpents stuck in the SCP-5000 Timeline, being forced to work alongside the UNGOC and very briefly the Church of the Broken God before their Civil War over Mekhane, a war intentionally fueled by the Foundation to get rid of them. tl;dr The SH didn't mean to abandon the world. Rather the SCP Foundation forced them out for good. A group remained stranded and tried their best to combat against the Foundation. (Note: Please be advised that my memory of SCP-5000 may be not be good, especially since I read the story and a lot of its surrounding tales and canons a very long time ago. Please take this with a grain of salt.)

Edit: That's my head canon, as it's the most logical, they only have what a few hundred members, they can try to evacuate their sites and a few lucky people, but they still have to cut their ties with baseline reality for a bit

I can't remember the exact designation but I know it was a song and it was also related to nature if I remember correctly. They also saved the world in 4 related stories: "Prisoners", "Family", "Showtime" and "Sisters" are the names of the stories (in order).
