The Sam Simon Installs New Hydroponic System

- In a first for Sea Shepherd ship, the crew on the Sam Simon has installed a hydroponics system.
The system will allow our crews to grow fresh produce on the Sam Simon while at sea, meaning the ship can stay out at sea longer, while our crews get the much-needed fresh food and nutrients required to continue their battles protecting the world's oceans.

Coca coir would be a better medium to use at sea. That way you can use an organic fertiliser. Less damage to the environment when the spent fertiliser is disguarded.
is this really efficient on a boat where you need to burn oil to power it?
+dezent I would assume it is less weight so the Engine(s) use less fuel and It would be very bad if they ran out of Food i so i Guess its Worth it

Nice idea SS!! Only.. if there's a 30 man crew...How much food can u grow in such a small place without real earth/soil or even space... You cant really grow potatos or any other really big vegstable.. only.. lettuce? Oh, and SS for president..
