According to my spotty memory, an interview with Vince said that originally he picked up stitchdown because you didn't need an expensive machine to do it well, but he timed the company too well during the boot popularity explosion and he essentially couldn't see how he could fulfill the incoming demand if he stuck with stitchdown. I wish truman kept the horseshoe tongue connection instead of the straight one they use now.
@@EDHBlvd yeah, my wife would call it vanity how I would spend a lot of time just looking at them, admiring the leather, the color, the stitching, the build, the outsole, the smell of the leather!!!! Am I the only one?
What a great find. I don’t think Truman had machine lasting back then. I know Nicks talked about machine lasting in a podcast one time, I don’t think they have started to use it. But if they do, the price should at least not go up that much.
Yeah but what are ya drinkin..!!!? Lol fill us in next time ; ) Like boots bud 👊 I gotta get back in the editing room.. the boot collections been growing but not the videos 😅 Your content is that push i need ✌️
Back in 2016, Truman did a run with Maryam Horserump, and you can tell it’s horserump by the smoother glass like look-there’s way less grain compared to your Prospectors. Honestly, Truman was probably the one that put Maryam on the map before Viberg took it to the next level and overshadowed them completely. It’s kind of like the whole Waxed Flesh and Rambler situation, but people seem to have forgotten about Maryam. Now they’re doing something similar with Gallun’s tannery horserump, which is such a great find. Enjoy them and wear them in good health!
Agreed, probably maryam rump, so many good horse rump makeups around that time and even sold off a few myself due to sizing unfortunately. I actually just snagged a pair of stitchdown horse rump trumans yesterday off ebay from around the same time frame. Think the color might be toscanello but truman/maryam had so many different makeups back then
Oh man these are OGs!! Especially to find them like that. They look unworn. Truman was making stitch down before they moved to Oregon. That last has a bit more “sprung toe” look to it. You got to keep those boots. I think my next boot purchase will be some type of a Moc on a wedge. Was thinking Brass boot by Gran stone, but I keep an eye out for anything Truman has out.
Absolutely beautiful boots! Funny story, I saw these show up as well and I think I probably sent an offer to the Seller at the same time you did....but your offer must have been better 😂. I recently picked up pair of the plain toe versions of these, exact same leather and stitchdown construction as well. I believe these are actual natural Maryam horserump. Since my pair has the matching tongue (which is unlined as opposed to the rest of the boot), I can see the texture of the leather on the back. Unfortunately, I'm closer to a Brannock Size 11, so I'll probably end up letting this pair go. It's really too bad though, I agree with you...these are some of the most stunning boots I've ever seen. The P79 last is more attractive and better fitting than the modern 79 last. I would describe it as a hybrid between the modern 79 last and their new 56 last. Btw, love your taste in boots, watches, and whiskey. Cheers!
@@mightydwighty12 you are the second person to say it’s Maryam. Are you saying yours are lined? This pair is not lined. Not in the shafts or tongue. Cheers brotha! Boots and Whiskey are a great pairing!
Yes that last does have a better looking shape than the modern 79, kinda like the new 56 last. I also go true to size in Truman, half down cramps my big toe. This is a great score, don't show Dale these, he'd claim the Earth is round to get his hands on them.
Man sizing is so strange in this game, you think everybody can follow the same advise but it’s all different, you say you can’t imagine how can somebody go 1/2 down to size on last 79 but I have done that and they fit perfectly, me I can’t imagine how would you size up and get a good fit 😂 feet are strange things my friend
My god those are beautiful boots. That tan leather is UNREAL!

Ya man, unworn forbidden OG Truman in an amazing leather for $375 shipped felt like a damn good deal to me. Zero lead times haha.

Hey great video as always. I saw this on eBay and thought they were fake I’ve never seen a Truman boot quite like that but great boot enjoy 👍👍
@@franciscomacias4392 I don’t think counterfeit Truman’s are a thing lol.
Counterfeit heritage boots in general aren't a thing. Maybe some really bad Red Wings but for the most part boots aren't popular enough to copy.
These remind me of Jim Green's 719. There are probably plenty of differences, they aesthetically look similar.

They look amazing.. the toe box looks comfortably well shaped. How is the toe box compared to Nicks Thurman's.
