Looking good. Thanks for the shout-out. I'm glad you saw that tip. If you put your shore power plug on the rear back panel below your lights, you will find the vent. It makes a great spot to pass the cord through. If you decide to take the headliner down to add reflectix, pull it all the way out and all the way in the back you will find an opening. This seems to be a common place for mice entering the van from the engine area. I put kilmat over the area 👍. All the extra prep will be so worth it.
I always watch your videos but I feel like I should just leave you a message so you know that I’m watching you and I so happy that you were able to keep Lady Bugout ❤🌹🇺🇸🙏
i am TORN...for YOU i want everything DONE and perfect for your new home....for ME i want this series to last forever! i love the polyfill because it is mold resistant (though NOT mold PROOF). thanks for telling us about NOT adding it to doors, that is good to know. {i enjoyed watching the AMAZING cleaning of the floor...and ALL that dust removal.
A New home for 2025👍👍Very good. Enjoy the build. A fyi, my truck bed is exactly like that floor. I have 1 rubber bedmat, 3 layers of carpet, 1/2 inch of foam insulation , and the warmth and cold still is noticible in Winter and July summer. The More the better i learned. Be blessed.
Ms. Dee, I'm a home built teardrop guy. My wife and I are always looking for practical solutions, and we try to ignore the stylish, everyone-does-it-that-way modifications. But, teddy bear stuffing? We didn't see that coming. Good for you!
Good job Dee. I admire you doing it your way. Loving your thinking it all through with your research. Great job well done. Blessings from Christine in Australia 💐💕🇦🇺
You're steadily and surely getting there. Learning is fun; though given the exhausting involved, I'm pretty sure I'm speaking more for myself than you. Lots of hard work! Thanks again for sharing the process -- and progress. 👏
I like watching other people work, and few are as pleasant to watch as you. This almost takes me back to the excellent "aircrete" videos where you worked so hard. It's a shame you didn't have access to a big oil-free air compressor and big fan, to just blow out all the dust. Or it can be used to blow liquid cleaner out of nooks and crannies after going at it with a squirt bottle or garden sprayer. Just put rags down below and blow any remaining cleaner down to them. Your method was 100x faster than doing it with Q tips, but 100x slower than using a blowgun on a compressor. Two of the best tools/toys I bought in 2024 were ultra-quiet oil-free air compressors.. One has a 1-gallon tank and can be carried with one hand, the other has a 26 gallon tank and acts like a top-heavy load on a hand truck. Either is fine for filling tires or blowing off dirt/dust, it's just a matter of how long you can go before you have to stop while it refills the tank when doing a lot with it. Being able to use a compressor without hearing protection or going deaf, is a game changer for many tasks. I wish I'd gotten rid of my noisy compressors a long time ago. But on the other hand, many air tools are almost obsolete due to cordless tools now.
Lots of work with satisfying results! That ArmorAll works wonders on plastic and rubber. Use it on outside moldings and tire sidewalls too. It helps to prevent fading and cracking. You’re making good progress. Keep pushing forward!
Polyfil is a brilliant idea! You taught me something about it too. I use it regularly in crafting but had no idea it's mold and mildew resistant!! Thank you for the info! Super excited to watch the whole van build process!! 🙌🏼 I'm thankful to learn so much for the future when I hope to do the same. All the best from Oregon 🌲💚
Polyfilla is amazing for small areas! Still jelly about the custom insulation...LOL Amazing what you can find these days. I'm so excited to see what you do with a larger area...so much room for activities!!!
Wow you really made it way cleaner. Taking out all that dust and grease also freshens the air in your van. It looks great Dee. So glad you have good gloves to protect your hands. Best wishes!
Amazing job and doing it as you did by hand on your hands and knees. You now know every square inch of that van. You don’t have to wonder what does it look like in there you don’t have to wonder well if you get moisture in there where is it gonna go? You have taken all the wonder out of your future experience and you put in a knowing and a trusting. 90% of what I own is in the sprinter the final clean out of the house is Monday. And what happens the first arctic blast.😂😂😂😂
I just picked up my new (new, to me) Chevy Express cargo van on Thursday! It's 20°f here and it's so hard having to wait to start my build! Thanks for the tip!!!🙌 I live about an hour away from Syr! You guys got hammered with that arctic blast this week. And, of course, our vans are rear wheel drive! 🤣
Awesome video Dee, thanks for showing the cleaning too, every step you take in remodeling your van is important! Very exciting , and I love that you explain your thought process on how you choose which products to use and why. All very helpful! I hope your week is fabulous and can't wait for the next one🥰
I really really appreciate you going through that process in such a great detail. I will be buying a van within the next 6 months, so I will be watching you to get ideas based on your experience. Thanks 😊
I *THOUGHT* it would be another six months before I bought my van, but, I unexpectedly happened upon the exact van I was looking for on New Year's Eve! It seems that when you least expect it, it happens 🙂 Though, my build out will have to wait for March/April, as it's 20°f here in central NYS these days. The ten weeks+ I have to wait gives me plenty of time to watch Dee do her build. She's logical, smart, creative and a real go-getter! Wouldn't you agree?
It’s the little jobs that take the longest time. Please remember to use a face mask and filter the air you breathe when spraying chemicals. Sending you my love xxoo
You have a very easy voice to listen to Dee, and apply yourself well to this rather tedious job. This was the worst part of my build..., i'm a builder not a cleaner! But it has to be done... right? Yes it does, so I was thankful to my daughter who helped me with it all. You got this done fast..., but I know that you had many many hours to get it to this point..., still wanna carry on with it 🙂? Well done so far, I now wonder how far you've got by the time we see you again.... see ya next week.
I’m so glad to see you continuing to go at this new conversion. This is going to be a great series! I am still just scratching the surface on my 2012 FTC and I found 2 warmer days this week to work on my slider door latches - I couldn’t get in one and couldn’t get out the other. I got one fixed and diagnosed and ordered a lock motor for the other. Keep inspiring us! 🥰
Sanding the edges of the flooring might help it fit if it's tight. And maybe a spacer or a "baseboard" would help fill/hide a void. I think you probably already know that though.... But just in case you forgot😎! Looks great so far! Funny seeing you stand in your van😀
Thank you so much for documenting your build! I hope to get my van sometime later this year and this information is super helpful. I've made some stuffed animals for my nieces and I have so much extra fluff laying around. Now I know what to do with it! Great idea! 🧸
It's nice to have your video to distract me from the LA fires! I don't understand why they are only using sea planes to get ocean water to all the fires! I hope some engineers figure this out soon! Love your videos!❤
Because you're heating the whole van as you live in it, if you don't insulate the cubby space up front, you'll get condensation in cooler weather. If you push clothes and blankets up against the roof, they will absorb the moisture and potentially get moldy!!!
Good progress Dee! You did that floor the right way! As far as the poly fill, it'll be fine for those crevices, will certainly stop air flow. Look forward to seeing the pre fit panels go in!
I also have a Ram Promaster, I saw a video about pushing from the back of the sliding door instead of pulling the door closed with the handle. It really is a lot easier.
Re closing the Promaster sliding door and cabin air pressure - you just need to open a window a bit when closing the slide door. Pressure issue solved.
However far along you are with the build, get yourself a portable steamer to clean with. The high power jet cleans and sterilizes virtually any surface and cleans like nobody’s business. Steam gets into all the nooks and crannies that are unreachable. A blow dryer works to dry metal where you can’t get a towel. Love Simple Green and Oxyclean as well.
For crooks and crannies, I see no problem with Poli-fil, especially because you are aware of the options and have made an informed decision. It will help a bit with sound buffering (not deadening), too. It would be a good idea to just double check that you haven't crammed too much in (haven't compacted it too much). Looking forward to your next step.
Compacting it more reduces the airflow even more, so the more the merrier. The steel conducts heat/cold regardless of how well you insulate the interior of a steel box/C section. It really is about stopping the river of air moving in those channels, and stopping convection in the channels, not adding R value. The R value will still remain near 0 because of the metal conduction, but then the cold air will form and flow only from the inside surfaces, not also from the unseen surfaces. So, it cuts down the amount of heat transfer by eliminating convection, not by reducing conduction.
PS don’t have too much concern. If you have a little bit of a gap between the floor and the wall of the van, you can just fill it in with a waterproof caulking. I raised the sprinter floor 2 inches and then put the factory back on and yes, there was a little bit of a gap. Sounds like you’re doing a great job. Have fun step-by-step. Enjoy the journey. And I’ll be honest with you. There is 2 inches of foam board and a layer of foil bubble reflective. I hate to admit this, but it’s cold. I would’ve thought that that insulation would’ve helped and maybe it is but it sure doesn’t feel like on the bare feet.
Yeah…there really is nothing we can do to totally insulate from the cold. No matter how good it is, the van is going to move toward the outside temp without some help😝
I've lived in a truly uninsulated Promaster for over 5 years. The secret to success is:..the southwest where snowbirds that get it, have survived for melemium. Didn't have time or funds in my early build to install any insulation. I use big white barBque tanks and Coleman green ones to stay warm in early mornings. It works, but I can get my sleep times started at 4 pm in below freezing on cold desert mornings ! 👍 Rock on 🙂.
Yay!!! I am about to wash my hair because I hennad it and missed a few bits and when I am done rinsing henna dye out, I will have this waiting for me, to watch!!! See you in a bit. ❤😊 Spoken with alu foil covering my head.
Woman to woman, I wish you ALL the best in what I'm sure will be a cozy and attractive abode. I'll be looking for your videos. Good (and I mean it) luck with the project. It'll be beautiful.
A common insulation mistake is compression. Some people think that packing insulation in real nice and tight is better. The fact is that air space is needed for insulation to work properly. This, of course does not apply to foam board that does have air space in it's construction. The loose material uses air space to do it's job. One downside of that is it can collect moisture and therefore mold. As most are aware, cold outside, metal shell, warm inside... moisture.
Were you the lead in school musicals? I've come to realize that part of the reason your voice is so pleasant, is that the phrasing, tempo, tone, and pitch are so often musically correct/interesting/creative.
Thanks for sharing! I'm also converting a Ram Promaster 136". In addition to the rigid floor from Upfit Supply, are you planning on adding any other layers to your floor, like insullation? I'm at the same point in my build as you are, I'm doing what I can in the cold, and can't wait for the warmer weather for my cut outs!
I can't wait to see the result of your hard work. I know it is going to be amazing because you pay so much attention to every detail. Is that spray that you are putting on your floor like what they use in pickup truck beds? I've seen some put it on the outside of their vans. Looking forward to your next video.❤
@mrabrasive51 Does that work differently for men? Hmm. May depend on the man. Yeah, cleaning a van or house can be about the process, but I wrote my earlier comment before I realised that Dee was gonna spray the Boom Mat on, so she really had to clean that floor.

Off to a great start. I’ve always appreciated how clearly and objectively you explain things. Thank you. ✌️❤️🚐

Fab work Dee, The befores and afters as well as seeing the whole process is fascinating and informative. Thankyou!
That rubber mat spray looks pretty awesome. I know it’s not the finished product of your floor but that’s a great way to start.
I can't wait to see what you're going to do with all that space Dee!!! Soooo exciting!!!

All of Dee's van doors were open and there was a breeze to circulate the vapors out. But, good advice anyway! 🙌
I've never seen that boom, Matt product before.I'm going to look it up.I'm going to use it in the wheelwells of my classic car.

Hi Dee, I used simply green to, but super clean is much better. Walmart has super clean in the auto car care area.
Thanks for the update. You should Redguard your whole inside. I use it to lay tile. Water barrier. Keep forging ahead! 🙏🤙

Re closing the Promaster sliding door and cabin air pressure - you just need to open a window a bit when closing the slide door. Pressure issue solved.
Yes, but what if you don’t have a window that opens or have power windows that need the van to be on to open and close?
A fan or a door can be cracked open, too. Closing the slider doesn't push a lot of air. It's more like making a small bit of a vacuum.
Lookin good.
Great progress so far! Well done Dee!! I look forward to your updates so much!! 😊

WE LOVE THIS KEEP IT GOING!! WANA SEE MORE PROGRESS OF THIS AMAZING BUILD SERIES
Thank you 🤪
Wow! Your van is going to start out spick and span…
As most are aware, cold outside, metal shell, warm inside... moisture.
Yes, you are right about the air space, I made sure to leave plenty!
I used half inch thick felt board
Were you the lead in school musicals? I've come to realize that part of the reason your voice is so pleasant, is that the phrasing, tempo, tone, and pitch are so often musically correct/interesting/creative.
Thanks for sharing! I'm also converting a Ram Promaster 136". In addition to the rigid floor from Upfit Supply, are you planning on adding any other layers to your floor, like insullation?
I'm at the same point in my build as you are, I'm doing what I can in the cold, and can't wait for the warmer weather for my cut outs!
The rigid floor has insulating properties and there will be some effect from this boom mat. Nothing more but what goes on top of it now.
I can't wait to see the result of your hard work. I know it is going to be amazing because you pay so much attention to every detail. Is that spray that you are putting on your floor like what they use in pickup truck beds? I've seen some put it on the outside of their vans. Looking forward to your next video.❤
Yes, it’s similar from what I understand.💪🏼🤞🏼🙌🏼
I wonder if storing clothing against uninsulated metal will lead to mold due to condensation and lack of air circulation.
I took mine to the self serve carwash and then parked it on an incline for 4-5 hrs.easy peasy!😊
Nice!
When you clean it the way Dee does, you really make the van yours.
@@I-talk-about-tough-topics thats why as a man I watch van builds by women..different thought process!.Always gonna learn something!😉
@mrabrasive51 Does that work differently for men? Hmm. May depend on the man. Yeah, cleaning a van or house can be about the process, but I wrote my earlier comment before I realised that Dee was gonna spray the Boom Mat on, so she really had to clean that floor.
