Thank you for this this video. I finally caved and ordered IEW we’re really excited. Also I been looking for history on Ancient Greek and seeing that true quest has it and very affordable. It looks amazing.
I love Dr. Lisle. I have been wanting those books for my kiddos when they get a bit older. But I love to watch his info on youtube as well. We also love teaching textbooks and HWOT. Great video! I guessed most of what you were going to pick but still enjoyed watching.
We enjoyed young explorers apologia but not high school, switched to The 101 series and LOVED it. We tried TT but we found they didn’t always explain the steps, we sat with child and watched child take notes, it did loop too. We switched to Learn math fast and reallllly enjoyed the simplicity, the one lesson per week, working problems out during the week. Loved your video and love your haircut.
Great curriculum choices! I had t heard of several of them. I wish I had, they look amazing. My kiddos are in college now but enjoyed homeschooling all the way!
Have you heard of Layers of Learning? It sounds similar to Truth Quest and I’m considering it this year. Unit study 4 year cycle including history, geography, science, and arts.
Thank you so much for sharing. We are going through Writing & Rhetoric, I’d love to learn what isn’t as good, because perhaps those reasons might or might not be relevant to us. I like that W & R doesn’t take long, a bit each day, my son doesn’t actually write in the student book so I plan on reusing it for my next child when he is ready for it, so cost wise so affordable and all ready to go. Lots of the material my son has covered so far has really high moral teaching, and lessons they are trying to put across, which I feel is wonderful and helpful. I’ve been wary of iew because it feels extremely mechanical, and not a natural coming from the heart. I feel the video lessons appear to take long too. Would really love to learn on the these sorts of queries. We use R & S for grammar, handwriting and spelling in addition, and just starting an online literature study group, so not overloading with time is something I’m aware of.
I don't know if anyone else has commented this yet or not, but the Astronomy books you share at the end of this video are a curriculum put together by Masterbooks. My daughter used it, it's called Taking Back Astronomy and it is AMAZING!! Jason Lisle is a great author and these are books my daughter and I fight over who gets to keep.
Yes! They are! I had the honor to meet Dr. Jason Lisle, both me and my husband… total fangirl and boy. Lol But seriously, it’s so hard to find an astronomy book that 100% glorifies God.
I am looking into Truth Quest for my first grader and saw that it uses the Sea to Shining Sea and Light and the Glory books as an optional spine. Do you mind sharing what it was about those you didnt like?
I love Dr. Jason Lisle. I heard his "Ultimate Proof of Creation" talk at a conference when I was in middle school and I've been drawn to anything he writes ever since. My copy of the book (Ultimate Proof) looks the same as yours. 😅
We got Dr. Lisle’s books after watching an earlier video of yours but I didn’t realize that Taking Back Astronomy was just a book!!! They were back ordered forever!
Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. I hopw though, you were able to enjoy it. You could make it into a "curriculum" because it is really packed with a lot of good information.
Love the without tears series because it's straightforward. I was not all that thrilled with the Sea to Shining Sea and Light and the Glory book either.
Finally! Someone that used IEW for reading. I have been looking for someone who actually used them from the beginning. I really want to figure out a way to blend their Thematic with the Structure and Style. Do you have any advice in this regard?
What subjects are required daily in Florida law? Or can you teach your child whatever subjects you want at their pace? Like one semester focus math and science is ok?
I'm a totally Dr Lisle nerd too!!! did you ever see his talk about the Mandelbrot set? It's completely fascinating. He calls it a window into the mind of God! Hugs!
@@LivingWithEve Here's a link! I'll finally have someone who's nerdy like me to talk about this with! LOL I even wrote a little lesson on it to share this awesomeness with my kids! LOL th-cam.com/video/RgZZ9iOpYc0/w-d-xo.html
Hi there, thank you for your videos. They've been so helpful to me. How do you find Truth Quest does with Ancient History? I've found some history curriculums seem to include some pretty hectic details on sexual practices and spiritual rituals.
It is from a Christian perspective. So it doesn't go too crazy. But also keep in mind that it does give you book recommendation more than just a book itself.
I've heard great things about Spanish Academy. I agree it's hard to teach a foreign language... our 2nd language here in Canada is French... I wish it was Spanish though! 😅
Very helpful😃Thank you for sharing. I started searching about Claritas Publishing and Classical learning and somehow found your chanel. I was already looking into IEW and teaching textbooks so that helps. Do you have any input on Claritas or classical learning?
I love that method and philosophy behind classical education. However, I am not a fan of learning Latin. I know IEW is included in Classical Conversations.
Love learning without tears for handwriting. Was introduced by my son's occupational therapist. Question: can the teacher take classes in Homeschool spanish Academy as well??
You can also try a free class with Homeschool Spanish Academy and see if it’s something that works for you…www.spanish.academy/schedule-free-class/?oid=1&affid=219&LeilaniM
Hey this is my first year....and i did not do a great job keeping the work or doing all the work ...i feel like a failure, but i know she has improved...im a little nervous about this...lol...is that normal?
Mostly eBay but sometimes the local homeschool co-op. Check the city your in, this is the time of year they start having them. Also Facebook group, homeschool Facebook groups in the Cory your in. They will advertise book sales.
So, there is a huge purpose behind the shapes of the letters. For the little PK kids, they are learning recognize that shapes make up letter. They have 4 options, big curve, little curve, big line, little line. Alot of kids need that simplicity in order to make since of letter writing. With those shapes they teach constructing letters in many forms, stamping, tracing. They use the same patterns: curve, up / down, slide, zip to help them form the words. If they can write those patterns, they can write any word. Because of its simplicity, they can learn it faster without frustration, and as a result, their confidence is built. No with the half C, HWOT is not saying that they C must look like that forever. But they keep it as a half curve to keep to its pattern. Trust me when I tell, a lot of kids with learning disabilities, slow learners, struggles, autistic or even just a mathematical / engineering mind need that structure that HWOT offers in order to learn and understand letters. Since there are 4 options, like I mentioned, they are able to construct letters. Not many people realize this, but this is a quick and easy way to get kids to learn their letters. For the average kids, it's almost overnight. For kids that struggle with writing, it gives them an alternate way for creating the letter and building memory of the letter's shape. Alot of research has gone behind how Handwriting Without Tears has been created. With a child who has a learning disability, we do have an advantage of seeing the research in action more. Believe me when I say, there is such a huge difference in confidence, letter creating, writing, structure, contruction, ect... They shape of the C is nothing compared to what it does for these kids, because we all know, eventually, after seeing C in books and other people's handwriting, they will unconsciously adjust. Hope this helps.
@@LivingWithEve I'm actually autistic, but I also have OCD so the letter shape does bother me. To each their own though. I'm glad it works so well for Naomi.
Thank you for sharing! That “Stargazer’s guide to the Night Sky” looks amazing!!

I love that you guys are loving your Spanish classes so much!
Thank you so much for this video. I always enjoy your curriculum videos and it's great to have multiple recommendations in one.
