- Building a 6 Figure Online Reseller Business in My 8'x16' Shed in 2023! The scanner I am currently using is pinned below (I plan on upgrading to a Fujitsu next year sometime, which is more made for Sports Cards than documents):
Epson Workforce ES-400 II this is a great entry level low cost document scanner for sports cards that I am starting with: amzn.to/3vpV7FA
Fujitsu Document Scanner mentioned as well: amzn.to/3jqbcsf
This is the latest and greatest scanner (Fujitsu fi-8170) that I want to eventually get that was designed for Sports Cards. Its super fast and allows you to upload cards with top loaders on. I am gonna use my current scanner for now, but if I have a great month I'll pick up the Fujitsu soon:

This is the type of content I enjoy! Not the constant hobby drama and negative shit. Please do more!
And best of luck!
Thanks so much!
@@JMacSportsCards do you know if eBay just changed the best offer option? Now buyers have to put in their payment method before sending offers to a seller?
@@Mrsaltypickle I haven't figured it out yet, I see some buyers have it turned on (when they send offers now it tells you if they have auto payment on or not), some do not have it turned on. I tried to find settings for it on my account but have not found it.
Dude. 1200 listings in a week is awesome.
Thanks first of the year I’m gonna take a week and have a listing marathon, I’ll probably document it.
All the best to you and your family.
Nice video! Would love to see a vid on the scanning and listing of items and also your shipping process.
Thanks, for sure coming soon! Happy holidays!
Yes Sir! 💪Good to see you brother.
Much appreciated!, thanks for stopping by. Merry Christmas to you and your fam!
@@JMacSportsCards Thanks man. Merry Christmas!
So glad your doing good
Love the content - I work out of a 12x12 with a 6x5 side room - sold vintage online by myself for 4yrs now - been in the hobby for 40yrs ...as I'm 44yrs old...but took it strictly online solo 4yrs ago - and your goal is doable - be glad to help or offer any trick I know if you ever wanna reach out
Really appreciate it, will keep you in mind!
The best video you ever made.
Hey thanks for that!
I love the idea making ur shed like a lil shop looks good n there
By the way i love ur channel
Thanks really appreciate the support and kind words!
Great video! This is the kind of video that Hobby needs and not the drama and negativity. I understand some people want to be watch dogs but talking shit about everyone doesn’t help the Hobby at all. Keep up the good work!
So true, thanks for stopping by, lot of good things going on in the hobby.
Very informative and the content is appreciated.
I would very much like a video showing the scanning process in detail showing the steps used with the listing software.
Noted, definitely plan on doing that soon. Thanks for stopping by!
Just started down this road (converting hobby to side hustle) and your content has been awesome. Looking forward to following you on this journey this year!
Thanks and best of luck to you as well!
Great, authentic, raw to the point content!!! Much appreciated! Please keep doing what you're doing!
I appreciate that!
Love the Shed !
Thanks
The ones that are most successful are the ones who are flexible and not focusing on one market like singles, wax, or collections bc if you just corner yourself to 1 particular market you’re cornering yourself. The successful ones are agile imo! Cool video I’m new to your channel but Ive really been enjoying the your content
Thanks for chiming in Merry Christmas!
So should we expect a "Behind The Shed" series on the channel? :o) Honestly, you categories on Ebay I feel like separate you from others on ebay - it' easy to see things better! 50K listings I wouldn't be shocked at all you doing that in 2023.
Thanks brother! Behind the shed is kinda messy 😂.
Enjoyed the walk through… my vote in the poll paid off! lol… I look forward to seeing what kind of inventory you’re able to move for good profit 👍 I just want to mention as a long time ebay seller (& on and off power seller), they did move away from ‘power sellers’ status about a year ago and only have the seller rating visible for buyers. BTW- the shed looks great!!!
Yes your vote certainly did, should ask more often what you guys want to see, thanks for that. Okay yeah was talking more in a general sense of being a power seller, but now that you mention this I guess me saying that from knowing about power seller status from way back when. Thanks the shed looked great at first, gotta get organized, working on that now!
This is very helpful. I think I'll probably end up watching this video a couple a times on down the road a bit. I'm moving back to the US soon (after being abroad for 15 years) and once I get there have a plan to be doing some things pretty similar to what you got going on.
Great video we just hit 25k active listings on ebay and goal is 100k active listings by end of 2023
Heck yeah thats strong!
Enjoyed the vid Jmac, thanks for sharing. Lol, those zero feedback buyers can be wild. Glad it went through.
Thanks Dakota, yeah like I said if it were vice versa and they sent the offer I would have likely declined it, LOL!
Thanks for sharing! Love the shed I want one!
Love your show as always ypu got me taking notes! Lmao just starting back on the hobby been collecting since I was a kid but just got serious this year hope do do half what you do one day lol!
Appreciate it and glad you're back in the hobby!
@JMac Sports Cards yes sir! Me too lmao. When I got back in was mainly for the collecting aspect but saw the opportunity and really want to make a splash in the hobby hope to see you at the next show!
Im here for it brother loved the ebay screen with the in depth look from the back end as a seller, forsure helpful to me, big 2023 on the way!
Thanks, looking forward to doing these, helps with the monotony of selling, and allows lots of story telling about selling on the platform as well!
Awesome video
Thanks for the visit!
Great video my guy! I like the work shed!
Appreciate it
Love this! More of these video...
If you could “pin” your equipment used (I see the scanner was already posted) in the video notes...
I’m doing the same thing at my house right now and details help! lol
Great suggestion will do.
Dude .. Love your content!! Awesome YT channel. Question for you … How are you able to post some many cards in a day?? eBay has me limited to 70 cards for a month. Do you or anyone else know away round this? Thanks!!
Git er done! ✌🏼nice!
Cheers!
Cool video, respect the grind.
Appreciate it!
Love the content! Very inspiring keep it up brother!
Appreciate it!
Great video. Thank you for sharing. I am going to do something similar. I am going to share my sports card business online too. But probably won't be as lofty on sales goals.
I assume you have an LLC etc? Any other tips for a brand new guy starting a sports card business?
Thank you again
I do have an LLC but isn't at all necessary (that's a fallacy most say), you can write most everything off as a sole proprietorship, just like an LLC. Tips for someone new, don't wasted money buying packs, buy collections with lots of rookies, stars, and hall of famers (there will always be a market for these). Also don't overpay on bulk or collections, but do be fair. Thanks and best of luck on your endeavors in the new year. Lofty sales goals, but would essentially just be double what I did this year, so I think with inventory and what I hope to pick up in the coming months 6 figures should be easily obtainable.
I wish all YT's that talk what they make selling would give the all the numbers, i.e. purchase$, sold(gross)$, net$, shipping$, ebaycosts$, etc$...
I’m new to selling on eBay, if your cards don’t sell after the 30 days do you take them if and realist them or just leave it
Very good vid! New sub here. Keep it coming sir. With your current scanner Ever any damage? I saw u say it struggles with thicker stock
It would jam on thicker stock cards, thought you were double feeding it, but doesn't damage the card when jammed. You have to turn the double feed setting off, but I am mainly using it for vintage and paper stock cards right now.
Is this the Fuji scanner ?
Hey Jason, We too are on a mission to hit 50k and run a 6 figure card business. However, our approach will be a bit different. We have big plans and aspirations for this channel. I have not put any content up for almost a year. I did this because I change the name and wanted to see what it did just with key words. I gained of 700 subs doing nothing. Once we come back I'd like to do a video with you because I think the fact we have the same sort of goals, it would be cool to have that connection. Let me know if you are up to it.
Thanks for reaching out, always down to discuss collaborations send me an email. Jmacinvesting@gmail.com
What other platform outside of eBay are you using? Love this type of vid. I use the same AI (just started last month) and love the platform.
That's, awesome, I sell some on Instagram & Facebook groups (occasionally), I have some sets listed on buysportscards.com (commons are really easy to list there), also sometimes on FB marketplace.
Great video, Jay! I know that you have a store, but how many free listings do you get per month?
You get 1000 fixed price, 250 auctions with a basic store. But they run monthly promos this month they gave you 10,000 free fixed price listings on top of the 1000 free fixed price. Then once i need to scale up ill just up the store to the next tier
can you make a video showing the AI program ?
Absolutely will do thanks.
do you keep the building climate controlled 24/7 to keep the cards from getting damaged from the heat and humidity?
Yep my shed is climate controlled.
What brand/model scanner are you using?
Epson ES-400 II. I plan on upgrading early next year to a Fujitsu, but gonna ride with this one for a couple months. Does great but struggles a bit with thicker stock cards. Adequate for most stuff though.
@@JMacSportsCards Thank you. I really enjoyed your video and like how its down to earth. Take Care.
Do you pay for promoted listings?
2-3% max
I buy a lot of cards on ebay, what seller name you use on it?
Thanks for watching and definitely check me out, gonna be listing a lot of cards over the next couple months. Always open to fair offers as well: www.ebay.com/usr/jmacssportscards
Moot point but we went from 2500 sq ft to 1300 sq ft. 😂
Thanks dear, I was close LOL!!!
Revenue isn't the problem - profit is...
Pretty vague comment not sure the reference, but profit isn't a problem when you're buying and reselling collections that were purchased at the correct prices.
I just don’t see much profit in selling $2-$4 cards when you are looking at 30%-35% margins off the bat in a declining market.
@@andrewmoore1536 when you buy collections, cards don't even cost a penny apiece, so if you can sell them for $1 or $2, that is actually a pretty good r.o.i. -- that is why they want to get 50k to 100k cards listed so those smaller items add up
@@andrewmoore1536 great more sales for sellers like me, thanks!!!
@@JMacSportsCards - I have friends that have been online sellers for many years. Unless you are charging a lot for S/H the cheap cards are probably not worth your time to post. And for every great sell you have customers renege... the scales of justice are tilted away from the seller. What I have found most successful myself is relationship building and filling wantlists of real collectors - you walk into a show with sales already made. But even so - one day's "correct" price purchase can turn into tomorrows reach. Unless you pivot mostly into older stuff
Hate to say it.......ebay DOESNT always work/ pay well...... i worked hard at it, even gave it the time one would as a 30hr part time job........ and i didnt have items like this...... i had(still have) NIB/NIPK Toyota, Lexus, Volvo ans Subaru parts...... i got my hands on a storage locker of a dealership that closed........... anyone out there with REAL advice reach out to me please..... im even contipalating selling it all out right......... happy holidays too all out there !
Great walk through Jmac. I'm doing exactly what you are without the scanner which i will be upgrading soon. I got about 2700 cards on my store ranging from $1 to $50k and every card has value. I also use a auction service host called Auctiva which helps me process and list items. I like the flow of your store and how fast the inventory is moving right now. Only low end sells great right now and I am concentrating on this. I try and buy bulk as well, just a question what % are you paying people for the bulk is it around 70, 80 or lower. I also have a youtube channel i vlog and do similar things as you, check me out when you have a chance. Thank you again for taking the time to go over this with us. Have a great holiday and happy new years sir
Definitely will check you out, I do most of the bulk buying at shows and its a case by case basis on how much I pay (I try to pay as little as possible LOL), I also have bought a few collections which I still a crazy amount of inventory from that I'll be listing over the next year. Always looking to buy more collections, but they are hard to come by good ones, but the search never ends (if you stop looking you will miss them when they do popup)
@@JMacSportsCards That's great 👍
