Seb won more races than Verstappen in the hybrid era and challenged Mercedes for two years in a row but gets zero recognition by F1. Awesome.
I can't believe they'd leave that out. The only reason 2017 and 2018 weren't complete snooze fests was because of Seb and Ferrari

And yet F1 decided to completely neglect him in their video reviewing the era to this point. It’s a shame even the official account disrespect one of their greatest champions.
He only did well when Ferrari were cheating in 2017 and 2018. When they had to make their car legal in 2019 Vettel was beaten by LeClerc. If Ferrari hadn’t been caught cheating then he would’ve got a mention.
@@ben6993 the best part is Ferrari only ‘cheated’ in 2019, not 17 and 18 so that completely debunks your conspiracy. And vettel’s ridiculously bad luck is what cost him in 2019, he beat leclerc in the race head to head and lost out on big points in Canada, Russia, cota and Brazil (not to take away from leclerc’s fantastic season).
@@rayyan1495 why did you put cheated in quotation marks? They were cheating, it was only in 2019 that they were finally caught. They finished P2 then in 2020 they had to make the car legal and finished P6. That’s pretty strange isn’t it? Almost as if they were cheating using an illegal fuel flow system for the 3 previous seasons…

he has 14 victories in the turbo-hybrid era, was the 1st and only non Mercedes driver to lead the championship between 2014-2020 and the only one to challenge their dominance even with a slower car. one of the few to have multiple podiums with thee different teams. 4th biggest and most successful driver of this era.

You need to simply try so hard to prepare this type of "tribute video" for the turbo hybrid era of Formula 1. Sebastian Vettel was the only reason why so many people had watched Formula 1 in 2017 and 2018 years. Many people wanted to see number "5" driver of Scuderia Ferrari to win his "5th" championship against the dominating Mercedes Team. This was the main topic and even though not lasted long, this topic brought a reason for people to watch Formula 1. No offense but it wasn't Hamilton.

I don't want this comment section to go to a different point. From my point of view, Hamilton is a great driver. Of course he will get the most of the appreciation in this era, no doubt about it. However the point that I would like to emphasize here is, just like in the previous Redbull dominant era, you can not deny Vettel. This is not right. This is similar to forgetting or not mentioning Alonso or Hamilton, for their achievements in 2010-2013 era. And this will be also not right. Thanks.
Mercedes used their overpowered engine advantage mid-season in 2017 and 2018 and left Ferrari in the dust. They nearly done that last year. Thanks to Seb and Max for making F1 interesting.

@@Frozander no, they weren't, seb was just 46 points away, and those 46 points can easily be gained in Singapore (first lap crash, lost 25 points and Hamilton gained 7), reliability issues in Japan (lost 18 points), that already made a 50 point difference and seb still got more bad luck (Malaysia, Canada, Silverstone, etc.) unlike lewis.
That "title fiights" were over at the middle of the season lol

Mentions Bernie Ecclestone leaving but not Charlie Whiting who passed away. Without him pushing for the changes in safety until his sad passing in Melbourne in 2019 made F1 safer. He made sure Bianchis sad passing NEVER happened again.

Technically speaking, we’ve got two *generations* of the turbo-hybrid era from 2014-2021. Initially, there was 2014-2016, when these engines were introduced alongside a low downforce and skinny tires design philosophy, and then 2017-2021, with wider, high downforce, high mechanical grip design philosophy. 2022 will be a third generation of the turbo-hybrid era.

It’s kind of like the regulation changes in 2009, same engine but drastically differently aero to improve racing.
Technically, technically, we are still in the hybrid era.
The engines remain frozen till 2025. All thats changing is chassis and body.

Kinda ironic how the presence of Michael Schumacher at Mercedes between 2010-2012 attracted the biggest engineering talent which then created the most dominant machine in F1 history which enabled Hamilton to beat Schumacher's records.

This wasn't even a recap of the turbo hybrid era, this is just the highlight of hamilton and Mercedes success. No mention of seb Hamilton rivalry for 2017-2018, no mention of alonso with mclaren 2015-2018 (they only showed us the meme material), no mention of seb with ferrari 2015-2020.

Not even mentioning Sebastian Vettel's contribution to making at least two of these seasons (2017, 2018) exciting and memorable is a disgrace. One is left speculating what could be the reason(s) ... incompetence?, bias?, worse?
One of the most boring eras of F1 in recent memories must be Said since 2014 lots of fans like me lost interest in the sports until this season. This artificial overtaking through DRS meant drivers weren't able to show their potential and breezed past other drivers and no real racing.
That, and the near total one-sided nature in Mercedes' favour.
I still question whether we can consider Hamilton one of the all time greats when he barely had to contend for race wins.

I can't believe that didn't mention to Sebastian Vettel that he fight against Merecedes 2 years in a row (2017-2018).
And the Mercedes era was so boring, the only can get better was the 2021 season without a doubt, and also some races were amazing between the years, but one team that was dominated everything was not fun. That's why I left to watched since they started the Hybrid era in 2014, but I come back to see it in 2017.
Let's hope that 2022 will be more better, with more teams and drivers fighting for the championships and please try to give the show what the fans want!!! How it was in 2021!

Won't miss that era at all- cars were too wide, too long, we lost the iconic engine noise and apart from last season it was an absolute snooze fest. Let's hope lessons have been learned and the new regulations are a success and we have multiple world champions with personality that leave their politics at the door!

@@jedijackattack3594 It's a balance. Too small and the cars become extremely dangerous (60s), but big also means harder to overtake, thus ruining the racing.

An absolute failure of an era for a fight for the constructors.
Alonso is right: "Formula 1 creates a hostile environment for non-English people." It happened to Fernando in 2007 and to Sebastian in 2017-2018. I think Hamilton is a great champion but he is not worth 3 more championships to Seb and 5 more to Fernando.
The fact that Sebastian Vettel, a Championship contender and double digit race winner in the hybrid era, wasn’t even mentioned in this video is simply disrespectful

Vettel had kept the title fight going till near the end in 2017. It’s mostly Singapore and Malaysia that unravelled his championship.

Hamilton and Vettel the best drivers for me. Of course they had their rivalry but they're the pair who have fought in 2 eras, a total of 11 championships between them and each one of the best to come out of their respective countries. Both started same year too and two of the youngest champions ever. Only Verstappen is between them I believe. Amazing

A new era begins with a lot of young drivers being ready to prove that they will be the future contenders for the drivers title, and we hope to see more competition with the addition of new teams and constructors 🔥🔥
Considering that Seb and Max are the only non-mercedes drivers to lead the championship in this sad era, I think Vettel deserved a mention. But its a British sport. 90% coverage is LH and his activism while 10% the rest.

I don't think this video is accurate. In 2014 hybrid powerunits were introduced and it's not like they are changing for the next season. We are "just" witnessing a big change in aero and chassis just like in 2017. So no, this is not the end of an era. It's just the beginning of the third fase of the hybrid era
When Ferrari set record between 1999 and 2004 of 6 consecutive constructors titles I thought it would stand for quite a lot longer than it did . For Mercedes to win 8 WCCs in a row is remarkable. The FIA is predicting they'll be no more than a second in terms performance between the entire field next year . Lert's hope they are right.

I'm still going to miss the 2017-2021 cars, they were ridiculously fast and fantastic to watch racing. Sure, there was a lack of competition, save for some cases (Ferrari in 2017-18 and Verstappen in 2021), but, as well as there were "bad" moments, we had iconic moments. Who doesnt remember the Verstappen-Leclerc battle in Silverstone 2019, the chaotic 2017 Azerbaijan GP, Kimi Räikkönen winning again after more than 100 races of waiting at CoTA in 2018, Grosjean escaping from his burning Haas in Bahrain, Germany 2019, one of the best races ever, and of course, the 2021 Hamilton-Verstappen title fight, a fight which saw a new champion crowned.
Hopefully, with this new generation of Turbo-Hybrid engines (the 3rd rule change ever since it's introduction) brings us a closer grid and many teams/drivers, having a chance of fighting for the championship, and hopefully Ferrari can win again, after more than 10 years of nothing, despite Vettel giving the Tifosi hopes of winning for 2 years.
Can't wait, and the cars surely look stunning

I get Mercedes and Lewis were the defining champions of this era, but this video is missing some great drives from others on the grid: Malaysia 2015, Monaco 2018, Silverstone 2018, and Sakhir 2020 all come to mind.
