    I thought when you test for ground , you hook the multimeter from the ground wire to the ground side of the battery?

    What if there is a problem that ecu do not send signal ?

    • @PistonShack
      @PistonShack  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ECU itself fails very rare, most likely you have wiring to the ETS or wiring down to the sensor, defective sensor or issue with power and ground to the ECU. What vehicle do you troubleshot?

    My temperature keeps jumping up and down with barely pressing the gas. I have no codes and replaced a sensor already. Do you think its the wiring to the sensor?

    • @PistonShack
      @PistonShack  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most likely engine you have some air trapper inside the cooling jacket. I would bleed air from cooling system then check ECT sensor wiring integrity then olnly replace temp sensor.

    At open reference I have 12 volts is this normal

    • @PistonShack
      @PistonShack  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      12 volts at reference wire circuit tells about poor ground at the sensor or ecu shared ground. Sorry for late reply.

    • @PistonShack
      @PistonShack  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bad ECU ground will raise voltage on all 5v reference circuits. 5v ref is a blood life of engine computer.

      @@geoepi321975 Hi brotha!
      What kinda vehicle do you have?
      I would check:
      -continuity and resistance at the cooling fan motor;
      -ground and power to the motor;
      -check load and control sides of the fan relay if power is missing;
      - control side signal, check 5v ref at the sensor, unplug sensor (thermistor)
      Let me know if you have any questions.
      Cheers)

    While your video is ok... but in your teaching, you never explained which wire is your ground. What do we do when we have dummies like me out here ? Also, #5, you only test the ground wire ( which ever one that was ), So I would assume you do the same thing with the other wire.

    • @PistonShack
      @PistonShack  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Martin. It doesn't really matter. One of the wires will be GROUND. It depends from circuit design of your vehicle. You can determent which wire which or just check wiring diagram. But thank for sharing your point! Cheers.
