Thanks for the update. The affirmation about the benefits of physical therapy was particularly helpful. I said a prayer for you -- that you would continue to get stronger!
You are a survivor brother! I don't know if i could be as strong as you but i do know when we are put in difficult circumstances we fight like hell. Self preservation.
So sorry to hear you had to battle cancer right after spinal surgery! You are a trooper and thank you for sharing your story! I hope you’re doing well now. I’m the opposite of you. I had cancer and now I’ve had one spinal surgery and looking at another. The key is definitely staying active and having a positive mindset!
I'm having a spinal fusion done really soon I also have oa in both knees but your videos have helped me with what to expect in the coming months thank you for sharing your experience!
I'm having the same surgery on Oct 8th. You've been a huge inspiration for me. I've had total knee replacement. You'll get thru that easily. God bless!
I had L2 - S1 fusion 6 weeks ago. First 2 weeks were the hardest, but take the pain meds as directed. Walking is what I try to do everyday with my dog. I did get a DVT (blood clot) in week 3, I had to come off of blood thinners for the surgery. I haven't had any sciatica nerve pain at all in my legs, which i awesome. I had TKR 2 years ago on my right knee as well. That knee still gets stiff as hell, but i just keep walking. Ortho says it might always be that way. Don't be scared that it won't go well, be positive that you will feel better when you finally fully recover!!
@bradhandy5651 thank you! I feel good about it. You've been a help. It's in both legs. This is pain. After surgery, it'll be healing pain. I'm 70 years old. He asked, "What my goal was?" I said stand up straight and walk my dogs. He said you will. Reading your note about walking the dog makes me confident. Again, thank you! Ron
Thanks so much for sharing your journey. You are well spoken and articulate and very objective which is so helpful. My brother, age 60 will be going through a similar surgery and this was so helpful to me. God bless. Stay well.
Hey John Mark Schwartz here I had my surgery five week's ago S1 through L1 as you know it was a big surgery.I got home 5 days ago the big pain is gone I think I have a hip flexor left side never realized how low my chairs are and bed. I am walking barely also I'm getting around pretty good I don't want a wheelchair so I've been using a walker. For me I shower and bathing have been my hard part I've been blessed with a good friend who's been driving me and help me with whatever I need around the house so I'm pretty sure the surgery went pretty good I did end up in intensive care for 5 days and I guess my heart was going crazy. I'm pretty tired quite often and I wish I had better .physical therapy! I just write about your cancer diagnosis it's in the hands of our Lord John you got to just bite it you know what to do.
I am so sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Was the cancer related to your back surgery? Some surgeons have noted that the bone graft material can sometimes increase your risk.
Hi! Thanks for sharing your story, do you have some links or references to what kind of physio therapy exercises you are doing? I want to encourage my mom to do it as well…
Hello, I hope you are continue to be healthy, free from cancer and also enjoying the benefits of your lumbar fusion surgery. I was wondering if you could please share your age when you had your initial back surgery? Thank you - I am trying to see if my age might be a consideration in this surgery. Thank you !
@john1956c I was going to ask you the same thing and found it in the comments. I'm 50 and thought it would be more beneficial to try and do it while I was younger versus ten more years and risk a harder recovery. Hope you're still hanging in there John.
@@john1956c .... wow thanku so much for so quick response. I want to talk you further in detail. Can I have your instagram????? I want to ask you many of questions that I have in my mind. And how to cope with the condition that i have.

Hi JC. I'm still waiting for your reply. Really wanna know that when you started having back problems? That eventually led to fusion?
Can you give us update please or your email?
