In the OOTP (Book), during the DA Meetings when Harry taught the Disarming charm, Ron was reported to have disarmed Hermione numerous times and was also heard gloating about it.

You can see Neville's reaction after such a minor thing showing how traumatized he was after what happened to his parents.

Hermione paralyzed him in the past, in the first movie & book 😂 it's probably that trauma making a playful comeback...not to do with his parents sad past of cruciatus torture.

People have been saying that for years, But Ron is often a comic relief in the books and also a bit of a joke, and even sometimes arrogant, in the book he claimed that he got Hermionie several times, but in actually the one time he got her was when he more or less fell/tackled her and knocked her wand out of her hand, mean while he got owned just like in the movie several times.
@@Vakaria-plays Did you really read the books? Book Ron is as good as Hemione at DADA. And he didn't get owned, in fact Hermione was stung that he got her many times.
Ron and ginny. in the books they were everything but they were done so dirty in the movie even the other weasley brother, Charlie I think. he's in the books but not in the movies

I love the way he said it's good manners. it's even harder for Ronald to hit Hermione. Look the way he cares. His character is really good in the books. Soft and caring❤
This scene reversed the roles, Hermione’s weakness is defense against the dark arts, and Ron disarmed her many times in the books during the DA meetings. Ron wanted to be an auror and was for a while, until he decided to help run the joke shop with George.
"Many times" is absolutely pushing it and even then Hermione still disarmed Ron more often in return. And her getting an EE in DADA doesn't make it her weakness lol, it's literally the same grade as Ron's.
Amongst the students Hermione has the second best dueling feats in the books, with Harry being first.
@@cannibalrainbows Ron definitely didn't have the upper hand. Hermione disarmed him way more often than Ron did in return and no, he wasn't better in DADA in general. Hermione has objectively superior feats in the field, with the Patronus being the sole exception.
Ron being great at Wizard's Chess and his upbringing have zero connection to his skills in duelling or DADA as he has never displayed any feats or showings that alluded to him having an advantage there. Pretty much a prime example of head-canon.
That being said, it is true that the movies glorified Hermione and downplayed or straight up removed a lot of Ron's stronger moments from the books. But because of that a lot of fans have basically taken to doing the same, possibly subconsciously, in reverse - and in doing so they glorify book Ron and depreciate book Hermione.

Ummm that wasn't until the sixth year. Unspoken incantation wasn't taught until year 6 in which she was the first to master it. The DA was 5th year so it wasn't for another whole year. Good try though.
