I remember reading that part of the novel and gasped when he uses the word lovely for Rey. RELYO moment!!! Honestly the novel makes so much more sense than the movie, I suggest everyone to read the book.
He began to catch feelings for her during the interrogation. He literally stared at her while she was unconscious & I think he's in denial of his feelings at that time & maybe hate himself for having those feelings but it's get worse cause he desire her as time went by.

I didnt read the novel but we can see there is something between them in the movie, the way he looks at her tell you something and I love it! The 2 actors were a so good choice! Sad she realized only at the end that she was in love. I hope we will see them again...

I had watched all StarWars movies before but not this latest trilogy when it was released. I just watched the whole trilogy 3 days ago. Now, I can't stop going back to the ReyLo Moments. Where have i been... ugh lol
Its annoying the filmmakers could convey this in the movies. Why is the new Star Wars movies are afraid of the 'L' word? Alot of the latest movies (no just Star Wars) they want to avoid the word. George Lucas wasn't afraid to put this in his movies!
@@StarWarsForceTime Yeah, what are they afraid of. The one thing I love about Star Wars is its not only a Science Fiction Fantasy movie but its also a Love Story. And to me the two strongest emotions in movies are Love & Fear. Those emotion keep bums in seats and fill cinemas.
It’s just sad they let us down so much with this final movie...soon will be a year and I still haven’t reconciled the disappointment I had with how everything ended and what a disaster of a story was told. I hated what they did to all the characters. I can’t see getting past it so I boycott all things Disney.

The novel is saying what I've been reading in Reylo fanfics! I wish this kind of romance was more prominent in the movies... although the actor's performance was excellent at depicting those emotions 👏

It is difficult to accurately assess the “proper” development of Rey and Kylo’s relationship, because their relationship was never constant or continuous.
I believe this author is a Reylo fan. I do remember Adam driver being interviewed by a reporter , he says they have a special link, he never said that they were in love. Daisy Ridley also says the same thing. Daisy Ridley said that they were never romantically involved with each other they just had a special link they have together. That is the reason why a lot of fans out there did not like Star Wars 7,8and 9!
I think we see what we want to see in the movie. After Ben turned back to the light I think he did love her, and she always cared for Ben not the Kylo Ren side of him. After she saved his life she told ghost Luke she would have given him all her life energy if it would have saved him. Her compassion and mercy for him is what brought him back to the light. That's love, but there are different kinds of love.

The book revealed more on Kylo Ren and Rey's attraction towards each other. In fact, it's more than attraction, they truly loved each other. They just didn't have the opportunity to explore it because of their circumstance. in the last part of the book, where Rey took the name of Skywalker, one of her last thoughts were of Ben.

Well, you can blame sloppy filmmaking for that! In so many ways, they regressed Rey's character arc in TROS and robbed her of agency & maturity. By trying to soften the conflicted romance aspects in TROS, I believe they thought they were pleasing everyone - a little bit, but in reality, they didn't fully truly please anyone. IF Palpatine was behind Shmi’s pregnancy, he did it by manipulating the Force, so Anakin and his descendants aren’t genetically related to him. Even if Sheev Palpatine was biologically Anakin’s father, Rey and Ben would only be second cousins (ie, Ben’s mother Leía would be Rey’s first cousin) That is legal and not considered incest in the vast majority of countries and cultures, including the US.

@@CoolMyron We never see a real relationship, so we can only speculate, but I don't think he would be abusive towards rey because the last 20 minutes or so of TROS showed he turned. He would struggle a lot with what he had done and would need tremendous time to make up for what he did, but i doubt he would harm rey or the people close to her, because they were not his enemies anymore.

Hi. I AGREE with you that the sequels needed work, fine tuning, etc. As far as Finn goes...after the first film he was not utilized effectively--which was unsatisfying. There should have been MORE for him in these films--no question. However, I DO think the right choice was made to have a relationship develop between Kylo Ren/Ben Solo and Rey--that had the most DRAMATIC potential. "Star Wars" is all about exploring power and the relationship between good and evil--and, especially, how people can "trip" and get sucked into the dark side or be seduced by it, etc. Ren and Rey had viewers wondering if she had the strength to stand firm in her convictions (despite a force-bond with--and strong attraction to--Ren/Solo). She also appeared to be the only one who had the potential to really get him to want to pull himself out of his dark-side insanity. No, his parents had not given up on him; however, for some reason he needed even further help and support beyond them; (Rey was instrumental in having Ben Solo reach out to his father in TROS--and looking to him again for guidance). So...while I DID like many ideas which were incorporated into these sequels, sadly, not all of them were properly developed and/or brought to satisfying resolution. And...in the case of Finn, he appears to have been a completely lost opportunity after the first film.
@@kip869 However, there was PLENTY in these sequels which was MORE COMPELLING than anything I had seen out of "Star Wars" since the first flick! There really was POTENTIAL in these sequels to kick everything else in the previous 6 films to the curb. Even with its faults and lack of a proper resolution, the Kylo Ren/Ben Solo and Rey storyline was one of the BEST things I had ever seen in "Star Wars." Shame on those involved with these films for not "tweaking" that to perfection. (They certainly left A LOT of fans cognizant of being cheated by the near miss.)

The book revealed more on Kylo Ren and Rey's attraction towards each other. In fact, it's more than attraction, they truly loved each other. They just didn't have the opportunity to explore it because of their circumstance. in the last part of the book, where Rey took the name of Skywalker, one of her last thoughts were of Ben.

Well, you can blame sloppy filmmaking for that! In so many ways, they regressed Rey's character arc in TROS and robbed her of agency & maturity. By trying to soften the conflicted romance aspects in TROS, I believe they thought they were pleasing everyone - a little bit, but in reality, they didn't fully truly please anyone.

I'm quite familiar with the scene in its entirety, and in my opinion, the TROS filmmakers were *not bold enough* in conveying clear & unambiguous romantic elements of the relationship in the film - too much left unsaid - a discredit to the characters & the audience. I believe that in an attempt to appease a divided & fractured fanbase, we ultimately received a less compelling version of what had in-universe potential of soooo much more!😪

Well...officially, no - not his father. If you are referring to the comic insinuation, that conclusion was denied by Lucasfilm. Or, if you mean the original script from ROTS - Lucas himself excised that suggestive line of dialogue while he was still at the helm.
But, Palpatine is a master manipulator & far from a reliable narrator...so who knows what really happened 40-41BBY??? Or, what "they" may decide to officially retcon...

IF Palpatine was behind Shmi’s pregnancy, he did it by manipulating the Force, so Anakin and his descendants aren’t genetically related to him.
Even if Sheev Palpatine was biologically Anakin’s father, Rey and Ben would only be second cousins (ie, Ben’s mother Leía would be Rey’s first cousin) That is legal and not considered incest in the vast majority of countries and cultures, including the US.

@@CoolMyron We never see a real relationship, so we can only speculate, but I don't think he would be abusive towards rey because the last 20 minutes or so of TROS showed he turned. He would struggle a lot with what he had done and would need tremendous time to make up for what he did, but i doubt he would harm rey or the people close to her, because they were not his enemies anymore.

Hi. I AGREE with you that the sequels needed work, fine tuning, etc. As far as Finn goes...after the first film he was not utilized effectively--which was unsatisfying. There should have been MORE for him in these films--no question. However, I DO think the right choice was made to have a relationship develop between Kylo Ren/Ben Solo and Rey--that had the most DRAMATIC potential. "Star Wars" is all about exploring power and the relationship between good and evil--and, especially, how people can "trip" and get sucked into the dark side or be seduced by it, etc. Ren and Rey had viewers wondering if she had the strength to stand firm in her convictions (despite a force-bond with--and strong attraction to--Ren/Solo). She also appeared to be the only one who had the potential to really get him to want to pull himself out of his dark-side insanity. No, his parents had not given up on him; however, for some reason he needed even further help and support beyond them; (Rey was instrumental in having Ben Solo reach out to his father in TROS--and looking to him again for guidance). So...while I DID like many ideas which were incorporated into these sequels, sadly, not all of them were properly developed and/or brought to satisfying resolution. And...in the case of Finn, he appears to have been a completely lost opportunity after the first film.
@@kip869 However, there was PLENTY in these sequels which was MORE COMPELLING than anything I had seen out of "Star Wars" since the first flick! There really was POTENTIAL in these sequels to kick everything else in the previous 6 films to the curb. Even with its faults and lack of a proper resolution, the Kylo Ren/Ben Solo and Rey storyline was one of the BEST things I had ever seen in "Star Wars." Shame on those involved with these films for not "tweaking" that to perfection. (They certainly left A LOT of fans cognizant of being cheated by the near miss.)
