Can I Turn A Basic Grocery Store Cake Into a Hyperrealistic Cake?

- This week, I challenged myself to make a hyperrealistic cake using ONLY every day items. No specialty items, only things I was able to pick up from my local grocery store. Let me know in the comments how you think I did 💚

I love how she opens every merch promotion with “Do you wear clothes? Or know someone who does?” it just kills me every time 😂
I also think the fact she used a doctor’s room is also great! So random! Only Natalie would be bold enough to pull this one, lol
Same
Same 😂
Sameeeeeeee
Me to lol😅😂😅
I love how she challenges herself all the time and is not afraid to fail, like today she was scared that the sugar might not hold but still did it, and like how last week she remade that lava lamp cake and took her previous experience as a learning opportunity instead of getting discouraged. She always tries to learn new techniques and that is such an amazing quality. Her cakes get better and better every week.
Cake idea- a cake of the knife that you use to cut the other cakes
That’s Natalie for you
I think it is perfectly fine to use something that most people will have in their kitchens as a tool for this sort of contest. A knife/fork/spoon is something most normal people have in their house.
She used a table, freezer and microwave to. So yeah I feel like everyday kitchen utensils and utilities are fair game (since i'm not expecting het to go to an ikea just to get a table for this one video)
Exactly, the same way cooking challenge shows allow stuff like salt and cooking oil. It doesn't affect the challenge, just makes things easier on the logistics/organization end :]
She also used her hands (hopefully not found in grocery stores)
Yeah, my thoughts are "everyday kitchen items and stuff you can find at the grocery store"
Just wanted to let you know that my husband calls your signature green buttercream "Sideserf Green" - and as a result, we've all taken to calling that color Sideserf green! My kids even spread it to their school by calling something Sideserf green and ended up explaining why to a confused audience so now you have a bunch more younger viewers!
Green is my absolute favorite color (crocheting a green blanket right now, in fact - I just prefer darker greens), so I love that you use that in all your goodies!
aww that’s fun
Someone who crochets!!!!
She is getting more and more powerful each day, soon she will create humans made out of cakes and take over the world
She already... has....
Her power is immense. And we, her fans, get to watch her power grow exponentially.
I’m here before this comment blows up 🤠
@@HannahElizabeth0927 me too.😅😅😂
Why I see you under every video waltuh?
@@komododragon410 he wants a meth cake, don't mind him.
Hey Natalie, remember that hair brush cake you made and you absolutely loved the edible hair. Well what if you made a hyperrealistic cake of a wig in a head mannequin?!
ok thats a reallyyy good idea
That sounds like it'd be so fun to pull off.
Good idea!
A what?
Good idea!
At this point I am convinced that I can pick up a random object and it would probably be one of Natalie's cakes
Yeah
maybe natalie might even be cake…
*proceeds to take bites out of random objects and reveals that reality really is cakes made by Natalie*
Lol 10:59:59
xD
You def should be allowed to use everyday items. Things that are in everyone's kitchen is definitely allowed. I'd love to see how you do this same cake but using all the items you want to use.
This cake seems like it would be too sweet to actually eat, but the creative solutions are super impressive! it turned out super realistic!
I don't believe that things that can be "too sweet" but it is cool!
That strawberry cake from Walmart on its own actually isn't super sweet! But the brown sugar would definitely make it too sweet
@Spewky It looks like kinetic sand tho!
@Spewky the brown sugar looks a lot like sand to me. I've never seen two toned sand and sand usually is shiny.
@𝓥 🎀 maybe I'm just thinking of sandbox sand. I've been to the beach once when i was a kid so i can't tell you about natural sand. Sand in a sandbox looks like brown sugar though.
She is so creative with her mind! She can come up with legit anything in, like, less than an hour! She always thinks out of the box! Beautiful cake, as always!
Facts
I would love to see you create a musical instrument. Instruments have so many details and lots of curves and details that could be sculpted and painted. I would also be curious to see how you make it appear hollow as most instruments are.
An 80 foot symphonic gong
Violin cake!😊
Violin cake!
Violin cake
Flute cake!
I have a tip! If you intend to do another "sand" cake in the future, instead of brown sugar, try using cookie crumbs, it looks almost the same and its more consistant
The thing i love about this channel is that her voice is very energetic and 'hyper' which makes the video x10 better ❤
I swr
She's got a great "cartoon voice" that keeps you listening. 😆
WOW ITS AMAZING but it’s ur first time not making it 10000000000% percent realistic but I love it❤❤
This is such a fun concept! Maybe not the best for eating, but it's great to have something that your everyday audience can make. I also love the bits of castle that didn't end up perfect. Because let's be honest; unless you're really good at building sandcastles, not every bucket is going to get crisp edges. You'll have some crumbly bits. And that's exactly how some of these ended up!
I know Walmart also sells craft shells, so that could also be a fun thing to add in! For anyone who would want to recreate this
It's really cool looks great and all. But imagine taking a bite of cake with all that brown sugar. Holy crap. You would immediately become diabetic.
@@coreyhamby2989 same thing I thought
@@coreyhamby2989 Yea, I would probably use biscuits instead
I forgot how much sugar she used 😂
My brothers and I cheered when the cake sandcastles stood tall! Proud of you Natalie!
I think something awesome about this one is it looks like something pretty replicable (compared to your /other/ mind-blowing cakes) and would be cute for a kids birthday party.
Yes, take a bite of all that sugar.
Can wait to see you make a hyper realistic cake with dental tools
That would be so good
She could make cake dentures with dental tools
I too enjoy eiscue
@@benjamincharlton1388 eiscue??
@@M1kadrawsalot yes
Awesome! And the cakes from the yellow and green mold are even more hyper realistic than the one from the red mold, because it's very common that little pieces of the corners/edges break off. Just like they did here!
Ahhh!!! Thanks so much Nattily! I’ve always wanted to try to do something like this. I do lots of different kinds of art and I’m very excited to try this out myself :D
I think the little edges on the sand castles make it look more realistic cuz when you make a sand castle at the beach some sand gets stuck in the molds
Even making cakes from just items from the store looks epic!
Bcz she is talented
I don't think some one else can do the same
@@mjakko256 thats bc no one is her!
Your hair is soooo pretty in this video! ❤ i love watching your videos when i am bored 👍
This turned out GREAT! Also, a nice tutorial for those inclined to make a sand castle cake 😊
I love how you repurposed those Walmart cakes, I work for our local one and have always been rather curious to see exactly what was inside of the 5" cakes (because I can't have gluten). You never cease to amaze me with your creativity ❤
So whimsical and nostalgic, I actually had an emotional reaction to this one... Simply beautiful, sends one back to one's childhood...
Yeah it's really good
I used to see you in tv when I was in class 4 and watching you was a treat you made a koala cake, frog cake and it was like a treat ....but apart from it you look to me like Elsa...but then that channel got 😢 disappeared but after that when I see you here I'm so happy because watching you was always a treat and how amazing it felt to see your husband be helping you in everything and the most suspense time was to see the cake reach destination being in the car trunk 😂❤
Can we all just take a minute to think about how talented she is!?! Like it’s insane
I love how much enthusiasm you show!
Actually, I think the ones with the imperfections make the cakes look more realistic than if all of them came out clean, because realistically you won’t get a clean release of sand everytime while making a sand castle even if you pack it in right
I LOVE THIS VIDEO, IT'S SO MUCH FUN TO WATCH .LIKE. I LOVE IT ❤THIS IS LIKE MY FAVORITE THING OR CHANNEL OF THE DAY I LOVE THE WAY SHE WORKS WITH THE SUGAR CAKE CASTLES ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Why did you do all capable letters? Edit Are you a kid?
That has gotta be the most SATISFYING cut you have ever done! 💗 Cool nostalgia cake, really gives me flash backs of my Florida cake. WAIT! 😳Could you make
a bouncy house cake?!? But it creates the illusion that it’s big! 🤩Like how you did the truck!🤔
Natalie is so sweet! When she used to Butterknife (which I’m sure we all have) she just said ‘I hope you can forgive me!’
Ofc we can!
I propose you make a cake of a… dollhouse!! I’d love to see it ❤🎂
Love this challenge and would like to see you do more!
Using your own tableware (utensils) is totally fine, it’s pointless to buy a knife when you already have enough at home. Anyone able to buy the stuff to replicate this will have utensils or could get some
soooo much sugar it would be the sweetest cake! the imperfections on the sandcastles make them more realistic! i’m curious what would u have used to make the sand if this wasn’t a challenge but like every other cake where you had specialty items available?
I just love how there is always something new she tries out and it works out at the end somehow. And ofcourse the cakes looks so amazing
OMG WHO’S WITH ME‼️you should make a loofa cake! So like a cake ball In the middle then adding some fun textures on the outside like a loofa then mix some egg whites to make bubbles and put it on the loofa and maybe hang it up on an edible hanger but it’s actually flat on the ground!!!🎉🎉🎉 btw some people are saying that she has already made a loofa cake and if so then can someone pls tell what video it is?
Awesome idea ❤
Honestly the imperfections on the top of two of them make it look even more realistic because lets be honest its pretty difficult to get a perfect sand castle without trying a million times
Wow! Great job, Natalie!
I love that you have allowed yourself to have fun with your nails despite the misgivings you had previously. They're always so cute 😊
She is so talented no one can do better than her 💜
This was actually the most satisfying cake cutting for me thus far!
That looks so good! You are so talented!
Idk anything about cakes. But I've been subbed and follow along because everything is so nice to look at here. Ya know? You know..
I love you Natalie, you’re on my top of my list of TH-camrs
OMG UR HAIR IS SO GORGEOUS WTHHH ❤❤❤
You said they didn’t sell modeling chocolate but don’t you make yours?
I really enjoyed this longer video, looks amazing
I was thinking the same!
Maybe they didn’t sell the ingredients
@@Alli9kitty a supermarket sells white chocolate and glucose/corn syrup
@@kasie680 maybe she doesn’t make her own…? But that’s how you make modeling chocolate? Interesting!
@@Alli9kitty yes! She has a video
You are so talented and I love watching every single one of your videos. U are one of a kind and I hope u always continue to bake these cakes and share them w us all for many many many years to come!!! 🎂 😊
The way the lighting, makeup, and her facial expressions are, she looks AI generated lmao. Love the vids.
I love how she is always trying new things! She is so funny!
Well done Natalie! What a great challenge.
I love your profile pic your face smooshed in to the camera 🤗
the yellow and green cakes crumbled a little on the top, but that honestly just adds to the realism because sandcastles usually don't turn out perfect in real life.
Would love to see more cake challenge videos like this. They’re so fun to watch!!
I think the part I like about this video the most is the fact that you pick the strawberry cake which is pink and you use signature green buttercream which obviously is green so the inside of the sandcastle cake that has the strawberry and green in it looks like a watermelon cake and watermelon is perfect for the summer end of being out on the beach!
Wait where did that signature green buttercream come from?
The way you worked outside of your comfort zone was amazing- especially with a complex thing like hyperrealistic cake art
I gotta say, the first time you tried using buttercream I was in pain because it wasn't green XD
Isn't modelling chocolate just chocolate with oil added? They all look amazing!!
Make modeling chocolate it's really easy. And can be done 3 ways. 1.Melted chocolate and corn syrup, 2. grind chocolate in food processor as it ground it gets warm and you have clay. 3. Buy a bunch of tootsie rolls and melt them
The butter knife is fine, plus everyone has knives
butterknives feel fair for the challenge, if this is to show you don't need special items to make a hyperrealistic cake and that its more obtainable of an art for everyday people a butterknife fits that perfectly. same with mixing bowls or anything, the average person definitely has some bowls at their house lol
Wow it's so unique,❤❤ by the way if she didn't made some adjustments to the rules in the last minute she would not have been able to use a knife😅😂
I love how you’re so creative with how you make your cakes, and how much work you put into creating them. Keep up the good work! :)
Okay but seriously one day I'm gonna shake my friends hand or something and its going to be Natalie's cake
Lol, Same 😂
😂😂😂
I feel like the butter knife was a legitimate "cheat." As you said, pretty much everyone owns a butter knife. Besides, if you got too literal, you couldn't have used your table, because I'm guessing you didn't buy that at the store that day. I think you stayed true to the spirit of the challenge.
I'm actually not too surprised the brown sugar held its shape. It's a very "packable" substance because of the molasses base, which gives it an inherent moisture and viscosity. And even in the spots where pieces of it sort of crumbled off, I think that just added to the realism - there's always a few places in real sand castles where the sand didn't pack quite right. This was fun to watch, and it turned out fantastic 😁
Baker here. Brown sugar packs rly well, i wasnt surprised at all when it stood. Also pretty smart to use it as sand lmao ive never thought of how similar the 2 look lol
My mom has used brown sugar for sand before when making birthday cakes, and I used it for a few dioramas when I was kid. It packs incredibly well due to its molasses content, so it is amazing for sand castles.
You should do a husband dave special with both of you do a cake but you have to make the cake husband dave has to make it realistic
Yes it should happen😊
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😮😮😮😮😮😮
@@everythingisamazing1067 agreed
omg i was looking forward to the shovel cutting at the end too but it didn't happen but the brown sugar was more satisfying than i expected, this video was fun to watch even
SID YOU BUY GREEN FOOD COLORING????
I just want to add that I have never seen a sandcastle (not made by professional sand sculptures) that has little nooks and crannies to be in all one piece that isn’t falling apart. The fact that they stood so well in the end makes me jealous of your actual sandcastle making ability.
Make a honey cake ❤
I love the idea of this video, it was awesome! Could you make a cake of an aquarium, with the water being gelatin and maybe some 3d fish too? Love your amazing videos, they always make my day!
day 130 of asking for literally anything from five nights at freddys
Stop beigung so rude
First, also did you notice sniper wolf reacted to your pineapple cake love your vids I just subbed love your vids, maybe pin
Omg she did ? That’s amazing!😊
The sound when she cut the cakes it was sooo satisfied I loved it!
probably too much sugar
Respect for husband Dave for cooking da cakes 🫡🫡
Her hair is so majestic and pretty 😍
Her hair is super pretty! Good job on the cake!
10:35 the fact is it looks more realistic since they are a little messed up on the tops cause I sure can make a perfect sand castle
WOW Natalie you are 1 in a million!! I cannot believe that you did this with items you bought in a grocery store. I bet you could go to just a dollar store, pick up like 3 things, and make something so mind-boggling...
Edit: Give my love to Husband Dave!
This is my favourite cake I'VE EVER SEEN! 😅
I do agree with natalie that everyday items that literally EVERYBODY has are not breaking the rules
6:09 is HILARIOUS😂😂😂😂
All of Natalie's cakes are amazing! BUT THIS CAKE !!! I CANT EXPRESS ANYTHING !!!!!! SHE HAS ALOT OF SKILL !! Not even capitals are enough to express how shocked i am!!!!!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You make me happy! Every day when I’m stressed out I watch you I think you should get a award ❤
The Strawberry cake red with the signature green buttercream reminded me of watermelon and it fits perfectly with the sand castle summer vibe!
I absolutely love her hair! It’s sooo pretty. Also, it really shows how talented she is if she can make that good of a cake with only grocery store items. 👍👍👍
I’m so glad that you have made that cake
This girl can make any cake tool look realistic.
This was a really fun video! I'd love to see more cake challenges like this.
I love your videos so much, they inspire me to do more cakes! I think you should do a phone cake and make the phone be on TH-cam and it should be watching your videos
This was super entertaining! Keep up the good work!
I can't believe it!! Magnificent outcome yet again!!!❤🎉
Editing skills are improving pretty well.
I honestly never have been more proud of you! 💜 💜 💜 💜 This is so cool and the inside looks very summery... Watermelon colors! 💜 💜 🍉
I especially love that this cake seems like it'd be possible to make with my kids. Thanks for sharing!
I just love how you made your ad short not like other TH-camrs becuz when ads are too long it gets boring but yours is short so not boring
I don’t know if I’d want to actually eat that, considering it’s like 50% brown sugar, but it’s still really impressive that you pulled it off and got it to hold!
Her hair is so nice in this video! I love it!
