    for those of you wondering why your image looks flat you have to make sure that Preview Displacement is activated (shortcut D)...also be aware on the lower left hand side you have 3 different options for the displacement...Raise, Lower or Set. Press T if you want your View port to display the texture tiled. Yes, these are basic things, but it helps when you are brand new to the software and everyone just assumes you know what the hell you are doing....when obviously, you don't.

    Awesome video! I would really like to see strategies for dealing with tiled repetition in mixer. I think the new mixer has some specific features that help with this.

    Really impressive!
    But is it really tilable, as you mention at 0:54, for large landscapes in Unreal Engine, Unity, or other software?

      He means it has no seams- The material itself will be pretty obvious if you only use one texture across a landscape. Which you should not. In combination with a few other textures and vert paint you can easily get a decent looking landscape

    What settings are you using for performance ? I have a 4790k, 2 - 980 gtx ti, 32 gigs ram and this program is crawling like a snail ? something i am missing here? should be flying through this.

    Tried the brushes and found the visual outcomes are not the same. Very flat and they're all circular. Am I missing something, or are these lower quality brushes instead? :( Trying to make progress in my learning

    I'm following along with 2018.1.2 Beta with the same brushes and settings but not getting the same results? My displacement is not as high and altho I can see the shallow disp, the diffuse is quite black?

    Rubble_02_Brush is not working like on the video. 1) it has inverted effect 2)values are same but I can't get those displacement visual results. (Mixer 2020.1.1)

    Is there a way to get the texture to look almost as good without the displacement map in order for it to run better in games ?

      gNightrow you don't have to export and use the displacement map in your engine or renderer. You can specify exactly which maps you want in the exporter tab. :) What you can do is to pre-displace your mesh in a 3d software.

    Can't find the Import Brush button on the latest version (2019.1.3.0). I tried to copy the files to the Custom folder, but they also didn't show up on the brush library. Any solution on how can I import those brushes? Thanks

    Awesome! Could you guys also do a tutorial on kinda opposite use of paint layers? That is, instead of making it for bumps to use it for deep cracks in the road for example?
    Also, what is the section those brushes are located? I was looking for those in "Brushes", but haven't found anything like this. "Free" doesn't have it too.

      You can find many brushes on the Internet that can be used on mixers. So, this is very simple. You only need an alpha map, just like the ones in ZBRUSH.

    1 - can i take photoshop brushes and use them in quixel mixer?
    2 - is it possible to make the landscapes to tile randomly ?

      First of, I don't know the answer to any of your questions since I haven't used Quixel Mixer before, however:
      1. I don't think you can use a Photoshop Brush in Quixel Mixer, it seems to only accept JPEG or PNG (and so on). But what you can do is paint your brush in a blank canvas and save it as a PNG, or your preferred image type, because Quixel should accept that!
      2. It's probably not possible to tile your texture randomly in Quixel Mixer, (or maybe it works). It shouldn't really matter, what you should care about is if that is possible in your engine of choice, which it is in both Unity and Unreal Engine 4.

      Yes absolutely! You can even export straight to Unreal using the Megascans Bridge live link. Simply go to File > Export to Library, and when you start Bridge the next time you will find your surface under the “Custom” category. From there you can export it straight to Unreal. Check out the Megascans + UE4 live link tutorial on our channel by Galen Davis to see it step by step :)

    I used a soft brush with a dark grey diffuse tone in carve mode to uncover the buried material and paint the rocky surface. Was that the workaround in the video or did you use a different technique? What I got doing that is this: imgur.com/nEJi9BA

      @@dailyraven3241 I just unpacked .rar on desktop. In mixer, click the current brush shape icon of a paint layer properties panel to load a new brush. Once loaded click the icon to the left of the garbage can icon to save new brush in Mixer's own brush library selection box.
