I KNEW JOHNNY IN PERSON AS MY FATHER HAD A WESTERN TV SHOW IN THE KNOXVILLE,TN MARKET AND HE CAME TO A COOKOUT IN 1986 AT OUR BACKYARD AND I ATE BARBEQUE WITH HIM.I WAS AROUND MY LATE 20S AND HE WAS A FEW YEARS OLDER THAN ME. HE WAS SO SMART AND DOWN TO EARTH. I COULD TELL HOW SENSITIVE HE WAS WHEN HE PLAYED WITH MY Great Dane DOG IN THE BACKYARD FOR ALMOST AN HOUR. HE LOVED NATURE AND ANIMALS AND THE MOST SINCERE PEOPLE DO. WHAT A SPECIAL PERSON HE WAS. REST IN PEACE JOHNNY.
One of the most beloved humans beings and of course entertainers in the world. A true kind and loving person and an authentic cowboy. R.I.P. my brother.
I guess we’ll never know the answer to that, but he and his high school sweetheart met again when they were in their 40s, and got married 5 years later, when children were no longer a possibility.
I was probably 4 when I started watching The Rifleman. My mom cleaned houses, and I went with her, so I watched TV to stay out of her hair. I grew up on The Rifleman and The Price is Right. It was an old black and white show, but was better than pretty much everything else on TV. 'Mark' was my first ever crush.
I had such a crush on Johnny! I loved to hear him sing, and still do......what a wonderful voice. So sad to know that Alzheimer's ruined the last bit of his life, and that he's gone. He was very much loved and I know he is very much missed.
LOVE JOHHNY.AS A ACTOR AND A GREAT SINGER.YOU BRING BACK MEMORIES JOHNNY..AT MY AGE I STILL WATCH YOUR SHOW THE RIFLEMAN.GREAT ACTOR .AS IS WONDERFUL CHUCK CONNERS...GOD BLESS YOU....
I first viewed this video about a year ago. I've viewed it about approx. 15 times since and each time I watch it, tears come to my eyes...and I'm a 48 yr. old married guy. Just beautiful Johnny.
I love his voice and style and his comping. He seems to be a very deep person and would have loved to talk with him. Has a personality that you already feel lack you know him.
i attended the same acting classes in college with david. i can't believe i came upon this post. amazing. i love this song and your singing of it. thank you johnny crawford for this moment...so many memories.
This is Beautiful!!!☺️🙏🏻❤️💙God Bless Johnny Crawford and all that pertains to him. All his sweet family and friends that are seeing to his health and happiness🎶🥰🎶🥰🎶🥰🎶
I remember reading about David Huffman's death. It made me so very sad but at the same time proud that he tried to help someone and lost his life doing so. I loved him in "Ice Castles" and "St. Helens". I know he did so many more movies and TV shows, but those were my personal favorites. RIP Mr. Huffman. Thank you, Mr. Crawford for doing this for him.
Watched you all my life, Johnny. Now I'm trying to find a song you sang that was extra beautiful, but it was probably when you were around late teens or early twenties, with a young man's voice. I don't know any words to it or its name, but it was one I'll never forget...and I'm older now. Anyway, you were and are a class act, and you made great TV with great acting, a spiritual side, and a moral to each story. Thanks man. God Bless You.
Beautiful words and music. Johnny Crawford, I love the way you sang Home. First recorded in 1931 and my # 1 favorite song. Thank you for putting your version on TH-cam. I could hear you sing this over and over the same way you just performed it here.
How delightful! I only came to discover The Rifleman a couple of years ago. I thought he was one of the most talented child actors I'd ever seen. I didn't know he also sang! What a gifted performer he was. I was sad to hear of his illness and death. But I am glad for all the video available, so new generations will keep on discovering him.
So I'm sound asleep 3:00 am my dog wakes me up. By the time I roll out of bed and let lucybelle out to pee,I decide to make a cup and just stay up. Nothing on TV but those stupid tommy copper commercials, the nutrition bullet, some weight loss scams and chuck Connor, the riffleman. I watch it till it ends and I wonder whatever happened to the little boy that played his son. I google it,read a wiki, find out his name was Johnny Crawford and that he went on to do a lot of interesting things including make some music. I TH-cam Johnny Crawford and here I am. I freegin love the Internet and I grew up i Johnnys era so the inter webs was a Litte hard to get used to considering I listened to 8 tracks and watched black and white TV. Anywho, you sing great and youve had an exciting life Johnny Crawford. Glad your still doing well.
Wow. Beautiful voice. Wish I'd discovered this while he was alive. Sympathies to his family. Just saw that this was dedicated to his friend actor David Huffman. I also loved David. I lived in San Diego when he was murdered by an illegal immigrant. David was chasing the teen who had broken into an RV and the teen stabbed him to death. Sorry for Johnny's loss of a friend and sorry for the passing of Johnny. Everything I read shows he was just as nice as he came across in The Rifleman.
Illegal immigration has been a serious problem in the United States for quite some time and now it's deliberately been made worse than ever. Likely that scumbag who murdered him has since been released. The biggest stain on the Reagan legacy is that he got nothing from the Democrats for that amnesty he gave them beyond a wink and a nod that this problem would be fixed and not a God damn thing has ever been done and it's metastasized into a full-blown cancer today. If Reagan had dealt with this in 1986, it never would have be come an entitlement in so many people's minds where they feel they have a right to come into America and be taken care of on the backs of American citizens like they feel they do today.
Johnny was a interesting guy and had many things he liked and would be such fun to have as pal to hang with thanks to Metv for all the old shows they run!! RIP JC 🙏
The song was composed by Peter van Steeden in 1931 along with Harry and Geoffrey Clarkson. Crawford is one of many artists who've covered this classic composition. Its a piece that would've made even George Gershwin jealous.
Wow ...johnny was greatxwithveverything ...being an actor ..singer ..musician ..I watched most of his movies ..riftman ..I love everyone on his movies ..especially johnny !...

I wonder why he never had children?
