  • Matt Dye and Adam Keith of Land & Legacy are back on a familiar farm and one that has had a lot of attention over the years, the Proving Grounds. There will be tons of projects that we will capture showcasing how you can take a good property and make it even better. In this first video they highlight the open portions. of the property and how they can implement different management strategies to help increase the usability for deer and other wildlife.

Awesome info as always. I need to find land in a non dog hunting state. Here in NC it's pointless to even plant food plots anymore when dogs are chasing deer off your land starting in August. #sucks

I had a wind storm in 2021 that knocked the nearly half of trees on my 3 acres over. I finally got a logger to come, (more as a favor since timber value was poor) the deer couldn't even travel through previously. Now I have deer traveling the only dozer trail and enough of a clearing for a food plot. Super excited for the fall!

We know grants not gonna like the sound of letting hardwoods encroach 😂

Nice video, i understand what your doing....I'm clearing off a hillside now of big tall cedars & some poplars, so the sun can hit the Earth, & new grasses, bushes, trees will come up...I've already planted 5 fruit trees & am planting 4 Chinese Chestnuts this Oct, but i'll probably have to make raised beds for the Chestnuts b/c there's not much top soil, a few inches, maybe a ft. down it's solid rock....I saw 2 does walking across that hillside yesterday, just before it got dark, checking it out...there's maybe 15 American persimmons on that hillside now....

Nice! You should look into the dunstan chestnut before you plant the Chinese chestnut.

@@Whitetail_Properties I've watched a lot of videos on Both chestnut trees....One guy said he has BOTH Chestnut trees & he can't tell them apart....Only difference he sees is the price.....Dunstan's cost a LOT more....He said, save your money, just buy Chinese Chestnuts....I have 4 now in 7 gal pots, i'll plant them this October

So the property has been sold and now there’s a new owner?

Yes the proving grounds was split roughly in half and half was sold and Grant kept the other half.
