  • Negative thinking makes you feel blue about the world, yourself, and the future. It contributes to low self-worth and it makes you feel you're not effective in the world. Keep watching this video to know how to stop thinking negative thoughts.
Negative thoughts are thoughts that cause us to slip, lose hope, or stand in the way of improving our health. A negative thought is usually a criticism of oneself. Type of Negative Thought. Life isn’t always easy. Yet, we make life more challenging with negative thinking. The influence of negative thoughts is far-reaching. There’s no part of your life that it escapes. It affects you mentally, emotionally, and physically. It limits your ability to achieve and enjoy life.
Negative thinking has many different causes. Intrusive negative thoughts can be a symptom of obsessive-compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, or other mental health conditions. Negative thinking is also symptomatic of depression. Negative thinking can contribute to problems such as social anxiety, depression, stress, and low self-esteem.
If one negative thought comes into the brain then the brain starts to multiple it. And then it becomes difficult to break the chain of negative thinking but if we have one positive thought then it becomes difficult to add another positive thought in the brain.
We must observe our thoughts carefully and if our brain starts to think negatively then we should stop there. We should divert our brains to some other things. So if you want to change your negative thoughts, you need to understand how you think now, then use strategies to change these thoughts or reduce their impact. And follow the below steps:
    (1) Identify your negative thoughts
    (2) Practice mindfulness and self-awareness
    (3) Avoid thought stopping
    (4) Replace negative thoughts
    (5) Practice coping with criticism
    (6) Use a thought diary
    (7) Frequently asked questions

YES!!! And I also feel meditation helps sooooo much in slowing down our thoughts and in creating a space for inner calm. I feel that negative thinking patterns can gain some momentum, so meditation helps to create some detachment in order to regain our natural state of peace and equilibrium. Meditation is like a massage for the brain overloaded with negative or stressful toxins: it relaxes and flushes them out! Thank you Peter, always.

Being a gym rat , you're analogy of going to ' a positive mental gym' to a regular gym , and taking time to train really resonated with me. Sometimes I have difficulty stopping myself from negative thinking , your suggestion of taking time to see results from gym attendance to doing positive mental workouts really clicked in my head

Clever man Good common sense, sometimes we just need things pointing out, we may already know.. Trouble is, some habitual thinking is deeply rooted and holds the power, over positive thinking. But what he says is true, things are not going to change over night. persistance the key. keep focus. Focus on positive things.Be aware of our thoughts, then we maybe then start to change them. Thank you for sharing.

Problem is if you find a partner because your are fat positive thinking is nothing else than just constantly lying to yourself.
Or if you are an introvert and acting socially awkward so you cant make any so called friends positive thinking wont help you either.
Or if you dont have a job and all people around you are very in to their jobs and you get offended by fucking the whole work-life-balance shit positive thinking is just another possibility to keep things up but in fact you are an outsider and outlaw who lost the connection to society as a whole.
      very complex issue IMHO

In actual practice I find it very difficult when I have a negative colleague spreading around negative thoughts that I may not necessarily share but you can't stop them or be so indelicate to contradict them, you have to walk with them a few steps sharing their negative thoughts then try to give shyly a small positive opinion but then the damage has already happened

I need to loose weight and start eating healthy but then last night my ex girlfriend called and shortly after I went to the super market and made bolognese and ate 3 bowls when I had fish and said in the fridge. Afterwards I noticed that it must be emotional stress that is keeping me from sticking to the healthy diet. I do three days good and mess it up. I also have anxiety. The world needs energy. I looked into setting up solar panel array in the Sarah. Seemed logical to me. Apart from the transmission problems, I wondered why no one had done it. Then I discovered the place is pretty much lawless, full of bandits and rife with small arms smuggling, human trafficking, drugs and counterfeiting. Associates in DRC had a bad time last year and came “home” suddenly and still haven’t said what happened. Then I read more about human trafficking and its incredibly hard to stay positive with that kind of putrid behaviour going on. And it’s all connected. Investments into “hotels” in Europe are sometimes brothels where abducted girls are forced to work. Pharmaceutical companies outsource production to India where they drugs are copied and sold on the black market. Not necessarily a bad thing, but then I found out that they are paying off the criminal underworld to NOT make the copies… which fuels the very problem. Such funds often are leveraged into trafficking and drugs. Banks are complicit in money laundering, tax havens help the rich and powerful asset strip other countries resources. Video games like Call of Duty pay licence fees to arms manufacturers to use likeness of their weapons, so, yeah, your 10 year kid is funding arms manufacturers. Maybe a good thing…maybe not. BUT, the point is, ignorance is bliss. Ignorance means these trifling matters don’t concern your mind. As Dan Pena says, the more you investigate, the less you have to invest. It’s my experience that the more you research and analyse, you slowly come to the realisation it’s all fundamentally corrupt. Take for example “nutrition” companies selling power bars or whatever. If people ate right in the first place, they wouldn’t need nutritional supplements. Unfortunately, the milk and meat industry has pulled the wool over your eyes! And so has McDonalds, but that veil has at least been lifted.(Well, nearly, just look into the inefficient energy model of cattle, deforestation to make way for grazing) Again, ignorance. Sometimes, I wish I had taken the blue pill. I talk about this stuff with friends and they don’t want to hear it, cant hear it, or don’t believe it. After a while, I just talk meaningless BS about whats happening in Big Brother or fecking Lizard Lick Towing. Oh, that cheers them up! It’s really depressing. “It’s easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled” - Twain. Correct. Oh, and why does the world need energy? So we can waste it on useless things like watching more 50” TVs and … well, you get the picture. SIGH.

      Good question.
Every emotion has a lifespan in our bodies. It takes approximately 90 seconds for it to finish the circle.
Allow it to happen by not engaging in it but observing it.
Once the sensation goes away re-contextualise the thing that made you feel that way. Ask intelligent questions that come from more resourceful place of love and contribution rather than from the place of emotion and ego.
It's about releasing the emotion, not suppressing it.
      Hope that helps!
      Stay Amazing!

Peter Sage Peter Sage I really liked your comment. I think many people are uncertain of what it means to die. I think to be scared of death means there's some part of you that is skeptical death really happens. Once one accepts that they die, there is no alternative, one can do like you say and start to live.

I used to be terrified of death.... and I experienced so much of it... so many friends and family have died... but I wasn’t scared of death. I was scared of not existing... of being in a void of nothingness... but nothingness is not an experience.. and we can’t experience what is not. You are eternal. The end is just like the beginning and the beginning is just like the end.

the trap itself is the trap that somehow your falling into a trap of thinking negatively and beleiving that your 'trapped...' in this pattern of the ''trap''.. its a self fulfilling prophecy... negative thinking just doesnt help... why stay in jail when the door is wide open? sometimes we just make ourselves feel trapped when really we arent.

Language patterns, indeed. It seems that most people are conditioned to think negatively, to speak negatively. By eliminating the words don't, not, no, can't, won't, from not only my speech as much as possible, it makes a difference. A step further? Eliminate negative thoughts from my mind.Speaking to myself inside my mind, my own private thoughts, as I would speak to someone I love, makes a difference. The title of this video could be more positive i.e. ~ How to Start Thinking in the Positive
