  • Today I replaced the bushings of my Nissan Skyline R32 GTR and here is how to do it.
This is a step-by-step guide on how to replace the subframe bushings on a Nissan Skyline R32 GTR.
The purpose of the subframe and the bushings is to spread high chassis loads over a wide area of relatively thin sheet metal of a monocoque body shell, and to isolate vibrations and harshness from the rest of the body.

Krid Snero - White Line (orginal) 1992

I’m a fan of keeping things as original so I would opt to keep the rear steering.

Hello, great vid. I know it has been a few months since this video but I would have suggested removing the rear steering. When it was new it was ok but 25 years plus after the fact it is no longer good to keep. Specially when replacing all the bushings. Thumbs up.

Did you reuse the metal “caps” that were on top of the OEM bushings when you reinstalled the subframe in the car? I can’t seem to find anyone discussing this. Thanks!

Yes, we did but I must say we were searching for this information as well since we had the feeling they didn't fit so well anymore. I didn't find any information about that either. However, once my car goes to the workshop where the engine will be mounted back in (professional GT-R restorer) I will ask him and I can let you know as well. Not sure when that will be though. Cheers!

JLST_GTR Vielen dank! And likewise, if I find out I will let you know too. I emailed whiteline and also posted on a forum. I don’t use social media and I’m afraid that is where most of the knowledge is these days.

JLST_GTR so here’s what I found out: per Whiteline I got multiple answers. Whiteline Australia customer service said no need to reuse them BUT Whiteline USA said they talked to the lead tech in Australia and said YES reuse them. Lastly, on the SAU forums a long time member also said YES reuse them. So at this point I guess it seems I should put these hats/washers back over the Whiteline bushings before installing the subframe.

@@JLST_1 I was wondering if you found out any more updates on whether you reuse the metal ''caps'' on top and bottom of the bushings? Thank you :)
