this is gonna sound stupid, but if you are struggling to braid your own hair, TRY TO DO IT WITHOUT LOOKING IN THE MIRROR!!! i have no idea why, but i saw this tip from a celebrity hair stylist and thought it was stupid, but then i tried it and i could actually do it. also try when your hair is wet, because it makes gives your hair better grip and less flyaways!!

same they hurt so bad but I keep going to the death
my tips:
-keep on practicing
-braid with damp hair and use leave in conditioner (it makes the braid look more in place & its easier to braid)
-if you are struggling with having the same starting point on both sides, take your finger and draw a line from the end of your eyebrow to your scalp and start the braid there
-don't look at yourself while braiding
-make sure to get all nots out before braiding
-tie off with a strong rubber band and not a hair tie

a Dutch braid and box braid r two different things.A box braid is when u get a piece of hair and shape it in to a box . People usually do that with extentions . So now u know a Dutch braid that they r different. Still love u tho 😃
Never knew of any Dutch braids they are cornrows and box braids are also known as plats.
But the braid she's doing is not a dutch braid its a french braid

+Shani Solomon braids follow your hand placement, you need to keep your hands high!
What I do is look at how much hair I’m grabbing, then braiding it loosely, afterwards I lift my hands high and pull tight!! I usually don’t grab that far away from my split so that way it stays close. Hopefully that makes sense!

I love doing my hair like this, turns out i was doing the first step completely differently and over-complicating it. I usually do it after washing my hair so it's easier to manage with less fly aways. Also, when my hair drys whilst braided it sets wavy. Which means wavy hair without the heat or hassle.
