Speaking of the wood-carved chain - My father was a woodcarver during his retirement years. He even taught WC classes at the high school and then at our family home. WC groups would have competitions where they were given a length of wood and then they had to see who could carve the best chain in the least amount of time. Usually these chains had a ball that moved freely inside a box at the end. He became so good at making them, he took it a step farther and actually carved a gorilla inside a cage - all out of one piece of wood.
I think the red glass in the lantern pops very nicely! I would definitely hang it there. My motto is, if you like it, then it fits! I was really hoping to make it to the show but my veins in my leg decided differently. I'm a mess. I hope it goes fantastic like I know it will and I hope you're in tip-top health for the entire thing. Have a blast!
Laura , you’re such an incredibly busy woman. I can’t imagine how you would find the time to add a podcast to your career and private life! You continue to amaze us!
Laura, those sashes are from the Rebekah - Independent Order of Odd Fellows organization. If you google the name in that order, you will bring up their website. There is a photo from what looks to be from the 1930s with the ladies dressed up with those sashes draped over their shoulders, many of them have corsages pinned to them. Apparently, Schuyler Colfax, a member of the Odd Fellows thought that women should have their own organization. In 1868, the IOOF voted to establish the Daughters of Rebekah, an organization dedicated to charitable work and the doing of good deeds. Schulyer Colfax was Vice President of the U.S. from 1869 - 1873. My deceased father was a member of the IOOF, and I thought I saw "IOOF" written on the boxes of sashes and surmised that they were from the Rebekahs.
Thanks Laura, so much fun to watch you estate sale-ing again, I also like looking through the layers of the decades in people's homes and giving things a new life. More estate sale content please!! Hope your voice is better soon 🙂
I actually think that the lantern with red glass makes for a beautiful pop of color & makes for a nice contrast for the eye. Just my op of course :) Also, I think that the re-use/upcycling of the wonderful beaded belt is a brilliant idea! Maybe that's your next journey? Upcycling genius!
Great haul Laura😊 I love how some of the pieces you pick aren't necessarily vintage or antique but are just to beautiful pass on❤ You always do a brilliant job of explaining you're finds & are so knowledgeable as well 🎉 Its such great fun for your viewers to learn from you. Keep up the good work dear & THANK YOU for all you do 😇💙
I really like the red lantern in amongst the blues.. As someone else said, it gives a great pop of colour, which I think actually enhances the blue. xxx Tina
@@cherylross2718 I love Jamie’s sense of humour and style very much. I was actually watching Jamie even before I found Joni. And you have great taste too!
I think you may have missed a Glassy Baby Votive candle holder (at minute 3:41). Depending on color they can go for over a hundred dollars. The one at the sale may be a retired Green Gratitude color. I know it's not your "thing" but it made me drool at only $2!
Thank you for another great video. Totally enjoyed them. I don’t know how you do all that you do but it’s such a pleasure to watch you. You’re an amazing person. John.
Your's is one of VERY FEW thrifting channels worth watching, I got very bored with carts filled with junky stuff, I know that doesn't sound very nice but it's true...I'm a thrifter and most of the things these other folks pick up I wouldn't take a second look. I love seeing your finds. Thank you
Fun video! Those sashes would make beautiful borders for throw pillows or curtains or edging for lampshades. Have a great time at your market - wish I lived closer!
The shade + lamp, in the clip from your office space, are beautifully harmonious together! I'm impressed because had I just looked at one or the other, I don't think I would have seen this pairing look so pretty.
Over the time I’ve followed you I’ve learned about the Oregon coast, and all the thrifting and antique stores you’ve found along the way. Then you ventured further afield to some other U.S. vintage and antique shows and introduced us to your home renovations. Sometimes you’d talk about possibly incorporating cooking into your videos. Now you are hosting international travel trips and running vintage markets. All this time you’ve also run monthly sales. You are always trying to keep it fresh, and I marvel at all the ground you’ve covered. I’m not sure what your plan is regarding podcast topics, but your videos can be such a visual delight. I can’t imagine what you have in mind for your next direction, but please make sure to take care of your physical and emotional health first. Hope you’re feeling better already.
It seems I'm in disagreement with most of the comments, but I am like you in the sense I do nit agree the red glass works. I love pop of color but I think the red is the wrong color. Amber or rusty orange, golden or a warm yellow even a purple would look great. Imo. 😊 Love your eye Laura. I'm a new subscriber and an instant fan. Your new friend Kristine
I have an arts and crafts clock and my dad told me to always wind each “key” toward the center, which would be in two different directions. Not sure if this is true about all windups but it works for mine. Probably worth researching that aspect. Also, don’t overwind!
This is Grandma from Texas. Some people have criticized me for shopping estate sales because in most cases it is because someone has passed. The fact is that the estate sale helps the family and is greatly appreciated. Also they appreciate the fact that others will and do value the items I purchase all birthday and Christmas gifts second hand. I wish I had the energy to become a reseller. Who knows,,, I could use a second income and kids like y’all inspire me. Thank to for all your hard work. Oh P.S. use the red lamp at Christmas in your shop
A PRECIOUS FRIEND OF MINE (SHE IS IN HEAVEN NOW) USED TO DECORATE SO LOVELY AND TOLD ME EVERY ROOM SHOULD HAVE A SMALL TOUCH OF BLUE AND RED. I STILL HAVE BEAUTIFUL VASES/VICTORIAN STLYE THINGS I USE TODAY STILL. I THINK THE LOVELY HANGING BRASS LAMP (RED) LOOKS PRETTY. I LOVE THE WAY YOU STYLE THINGS TOGETHER. BOHO IS THE WAY TO GO. TAKE CARE!
Just got back from London and Paris. I was with my son and family as he is stationed tjete along with my daughter her spouse and kids. So much to see in 6 days. Enjoy!!!
Back a life time ago when I was working in home decorating, I was taught that every room should have a spot of red in it. It energizes the space, so yes I think the red would work.
I know that this video was from a few months ago but I am just now seeing it and I wanted to tell you something about your clock that you were missing the keys for. I have a similar one and I am able to use needle nose pliers to wind it I did purchase a pair that has silicone on the tip so as to not damage the edges.Last week I was looking through my tools and I have an inner changeable screwdriver set where you can change the heads out and one of the heads actually fit around the square pieces in my Clock and I was able to wind it with that as well and I don’t have to worry about damaging it with the pliers. Hopefully this is helpful.
As always one more FABULOUS video. Thank you for sharing it with us. The red Morrocan lamp will not blend well. You are my FAVORITE TH-camr!!!! Love your sweet and bubbly personality.
I have been seeing these poster signs, left coast revival all over the Oregon coast, and on I-5 by where I live. I thought was some kind of revival meetings like Billy Graham. Today I found you for the first time. So now I know and so glad I found you.
I like the red in your Moroccan lamp! Maybe just in another part of the room as opposed to by the wallpaper. Sorry you’re not feeling well but it’s so good to watch your videos again…I miss them! Can’t wait to get my shiva dancer. All the best from Newfoundland and Labrador.
Your thrifting videos are awesome, but your real talent shines in your videography and taking us places we've never been. Podcasts are cool, maybe to do once in a while or have one that other thrifters could be alternate hosts. It sure is something to consider as whatever you do is so so special. Hugzzz.
Hi Laura, the carved wooden chain might be a symbol belonging to the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Their main symbol is a three chain link, sometimes with the letters F, L and T in it, representing Frienship, Love and Truth. There is a lot of information online about Odd Fellow symbolism. I really enjoy your video's, and am looking forward to the next one 😃! Best wishes from the Netherlands ❤️!
Laura, I would like to know how much you being home schooled has influenced your life. Are your parents entrepreniers? You have so many skills that you are showing in your shows on youtube. I enjoy it so much!
Lefty Lucy, Righty Tighty. When you inserted key into marble clock, turn to the right to wind it up. You turned left and that is incorrect. Just remember the little poem. 🙂
Awesome job combining your love and talent for thrifting/styling with entrepreneurship...the travel trips look fascinating! Looking forward to listening to your podcast over lunch! 🙂
Little trick with long skirts. I am very short, hate it that most of the long skirts I find have border patterns at the bottom. Take them up from the top!! I wear them midi length with boots.
Def put the red Moroccan lamp with your other hanging lamps. That red looked gorgeous with the blue you have on the wall (the solid colored wall) this blue and red combo is very popular in India/Pakistan in clothing, jewelry and decor so I automatically love it 😊 but I thought it just added a very grand look
Hi Laura! Just wanted to say it appeared that when you tried the clock key on the left side you turned it the wrong way, should have tried turning it clockwise. If the key can be inserted & fit over the metal pin on left side, turn the key to the right! (looked like you were trying to turn to the left). When you insert the key over the pin on the right side, turn it counter clockwise. You are essentially winding the springs towards each other. The chimes & the tick tock part at same time. Don’t overwind, go way at first & only turn the key maybe 3-4 times to the right, switch sides , turn the key 3-4 times to the left. You should be able to feel the tension as you wind. Excited to attend the Glea Market next week & have invited a girlfriend & my daughter ~ we’re heading down from Seattle the night before ! Hope to see you there~ Cheers Dear!
Fantastic finds! I’m a fan of a pop of color, so I think you should hang that red lamp! You can live with it for a bit and then take it down if you’re not a fan. Wish I lived closer to Seattle, the market looks like it will be a 💥 blast!!
I’m always fascinated by your knowledge and style. The red lamp should go. You have yellow, green, wood brass white. It would probably be even to much if the glass were neutral.

Find someone that repairs clocks. I can almost guarantee they will have a box of clock keys. Who knows, theymay even take your two as a trade.
do a rubbing of those clock key holes and take it with you in your bag to the shops❤
